Filter by:Objective: To investigate the effects of emotional working memory training (EWM-T) on depressive symptoms and rumination among university students. Methods: The experimental group comprised 25 participants who underwent 21 days of emotional working memory training, which involved viewing a continuous stream of negative emotional face content on a grid and remembering the faces and locations presented on the grid. The control group consisted of 25 participants. The Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), the Chinese version of the Character-Digital Breadth Test, and the Ruminative Responses Scale (RRS) were used as the pre- and post-test indicators.
This study aims to: (1) assess the feasibility and tolerability of two active dTMS coils - H4 and H7 - in older adults with depression; and (2) clinical response measured by change from baseline on the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale- 24 item; changes in cognitive function through neuropsychological assessment; and changes in regional electrophysiological activity and functional connectivity indexed by EEG. Through a parallel design, participants will complete a four-week course of five dTMS sessions per week, for a total of 20 stimulation sessions. Participants will be randomly assigned to either coil (H4 or H7) and will complete questionnaires examining side effects, mental health symptoms, and cognition. Participant EEG data will be measured and collected at baseline and at the end of each week. Collectively, the study will address the absolute and differential feasibility and tolerability of the two active coils to provide preliminary data for a future randomized controlled trial comparing one or both of these novel interventions to the established H1-coil and a sham stimulation (placebo) control.

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to determine the effect of an intervention program with physical activity for 12 weeks on depression, social and emotional well-being and quality of life and health in adults with mild and moderate depression. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. - To determine the association of physical activity levels, sedentary behavior, sleep patterns, physical condition, diet, and general health status with mental and social well-being, and quality of life in a large sample of adult patients diagnosed with mild or moderate depression. 2. - To examine the predictive capacity of physical activity, sedentary behaviors, and physical condition on mild and moderate depressive disorder. 3. - To study the effect of a period without an intervention program with physical activity (8 weeks without exercise intervention) on the variables studied. 4. - To examine the role of the endocannabinoid system on depression as well as its behavior after an intervention program of physical activity. Participants will be involved in a physical activity intervention program for 12 weeks. Researchers will compare intervention group and control group to see if an intervention program with physical activity for 12 weeks improve depression, social and emotional well-being and quality of life and health in adults with mild and moderate depression.
Integrated behavioral healthcare (IBH) emerged to address the high prevalence of psychosocial issues endemic to primary care settings coupled with primary care provider's discomfort in addressing psychosocial issues. IBH addresses the lack of psychosocial care in primary care settings by expanding the traditional healthcare team through the inclusion of a behavioral health provider (clinical social worker, licensed psychologist, etc.). The behavioral health provider utilizes evidenced based interventions to support the healthcare team with addressing a wide range of healthcare concerns. Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) provides a promising treatment approach within IBH settings due to the high productivity standards within primary care and the efficient, solution based style foundational to SFBT. In addition, SFBT is strengths based and emphasizes patient centered approaches which primary care aspires to achieve. Despite the natural fit, there is a paucity of research regarding SFBT within integrated care settings in general, and for specific disease states. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of SFBT within an IBH setting in the treatment of depression while assessing for commensurate improvement with traditional healthcare markers such as A1C, blood pressure, pulse, and weight. In addition, scaling questions will be utilized to assess for increase in core SFBT constructs to include self-awareness of strengths, future hope, and increased ability to problem solve. A pre-posttest experimental design will assess the differences between those receiving SFBT and treatment as usual across symptoms of depression, SFBT core attributes, and health outcomes.
This study is being completed to see if participants activity levels may have an impact as a treatment for depression, or depressive symptoms. Eligible participants will be enrolled and have an 8-week running intervention three times each week. The study hypothesizes that adolescents with Psychiatric disorders that are experiencing depressive symptoms will participate in a supported running intervention.
The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the effect of live lullaby from mother voice, and breast milk smell on pyhsiological parameters, comfort and maternal attachment levels of preterm newborns who are between 35-37 weeks of gestation at the time of the study and the level of pospartum depression of mothers. The main hypothesis are: H0: The live lullaby from mother voice and breast milk smell have no effects on pyhsiological parameters, comfort and maternal attachment levels of preterm newborns H1: The live lullaby from mother voice has effects on pyhsiological parameters, comfort and maternal attachment levels of preterm newborns H2: The breast milk smell has effects on pyhsiological parameters, comfort and maternal attachment levels of preterm newborns H3: There is differences between the live lullaby from mother voice and the breast milk smell interventions in terms of preterm newborns' physiological parameters, comfort and maternal attachment levels. H4: The postpartum depression level of mothers in experimental groups (lullaby group and breast milk group) is lower than the control group. Participants will be in three groups according to the interventions. The preterm newborns who are going to listen a live lullaby from their mothers' voice will be the first group (Lullaby group). The preterms in the second group (Breast milk group) are going to smell their mothers' breast milk. The preterms in the third group (Control group) are going to recieve rutin nursing care interventions.
The goal of this placebo lead-in clinical trial was to test bright light therapy (BLT) in adolescents with depression. The main question[s] it aimed to answer were: 1. characterize and define facilitators/barriers to treatment with BLT in adolescents); 2. evaluate the acceptability and feasibility of outpatient BLT in a dose titration protocol; 3. establish an effective, safe and tolerable light dose.
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the influence of intensified tactile contact between mother and newborn on the direction of the emotional transformation of the mother from the physiological, undisturbed delivery to 12 weeks postpartum. The participants will deliver intensified tactile stimulation to their newborns in the form of Shantali massage at least 2 times a day. Researchers will compare the results obtained in the intervention group to the control group in which participants voluntarily did not agree to introduce more intensive tactile contact with the child. The main question the study aims to answer is: Is the direction of the mother's emotional transformation different after the intensification of tactile contact with the newborn in comparison to the control group?
The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the feasibility and acceptability of a randomized controlled trial comparing a pet dog walking intervention to an attention control education intervention in adult intensive care unit survivors. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: - What is the feasibility of a pet dog-walking intervention compared to an attention control education intervention on depression, anxiety, cortisol, and quality of life for adult ICU survivors. - What is the acceptability of a pet dog-walking intervention compared to an attention control education intervention on depression, anxiety, cortisol, and quality of life for adult ICU survivors. The secondary question[s] it aims to answer are: - What are the differences in depression, anxiety, serum cortisol, and quality of life between and within a companion dog walking intervention compared to an attention control education intervention for ICU survivors? Participants in the intervention group will be asked to: - Participate in dog walking with their pet dog at least three times per week, for at least 10 minutes each walk, for 8-weeks. - Wear an activity monitor and record their dog walks in a diary. - Complete surveys to measure depression, anxiety, and quality of life at the start of the study, after week 4, and after week 8. - Have blood drawn to measure cortisol levels at the start of the study, after week 4, and after week 8. Participants in the control group will be asked to: - Read educational materials about their pet dog's health once every week (education materials are provided by the researchers). - Wear an activity monitor and record when they read their education materials in a diary. - Complete surveys to measure depression, anxiety, and quality of life at the start of the study, after week 4, and after week 8. - Have blood drawn to measure cortisol levels at the start of the study, after week 4, and after week 8. Participants will be assigned to an intervention group or a control group to see if there are differences in depression, anxiety, serum cortisol, and quality of life.
