NCT ID: NCT01448980 Completed - Stroke; Sequelae Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Massage in Stroke Spasticity

Start date: May 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Stroke is one of the common diseases in the elderly. It is the third ranking cause of death and affects health care system in our country. One of the most important consequences of stroke is spasticity. Some stroke patients suffered from severe spasticity or hypersensitive reflex to stimuli. It can cause contracture, limit self care function, transfer or ambulation. Most of stroke patients have to depend on their relatives or families.

NCT ID: NCT01446913 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Sleep Apnea in TIA/Stroke: Reducing Cardiovascular Risk With Positive Airway Pressure

SleepTight
Start date: May 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this study is to develop a novel study design to safely and ethically conduct a long-term randomized controlled trial among patients at high risk for both sleep apnea and cardiovascular events that will examine whether effective positive airway pressure(PAP) therapy reduces cardiovascular risk. Patients with transient ischemic attack(TIA) or stroke have a high prevalence of sleep apnea(60-80%), and they are at high risk of cardiovascular events(myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, recurrent stroke, and cardiovascular death)in the first year post event, despite current prevent strategies. Therefore, the treatment of sleep apnea may represent a novel therapeutic target to reduce cardiovascular outcomes in this high risk population.

NCT ID: NCT01445613 Active, not recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Carotid Artery Stenting Outcomes in the Standard Risk Population for Carotid Endarterectomy

CANOPY
Start date: October 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of the CANOPY trial is to assess the continued safety and effectiveness of the RX Acculink Carotid Stent System under commercial use in subjects at standard risk for adverse events from Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA) enrolled by physicians with a range of carotid stenting experience.

NCT ID: NCT01443052 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Gait Parameters Analysis in Post-stroke Patients and in Elderly Fallers

GAITRITE
Start date: November 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A large proportion of falls in older people occurs when walking. Most studies have recently demonstrated correlation between the variations in spatiotemporal gait parameters and fall risk in elderly and in several diseases. The investigators objective is to analyse this parameters in population with gait stability disorders (post-stroke patients and fallers) to identify the most valuable and to develop/test a conglomerate stability score.

NCT ID: NCT01442766 Withdrawn - Acute Stroke Clinical Trials

Donepezil Trial for Motor Recovery in Acute Stroke

Start date: November 2011
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

AIMS: To establish: 1) whether motor deficits in acute stroke improve more in patients taking donepezil, relative to placebo, for 12 weeks; 2) whether brain functional MRI changes as a result of donepezil after 12 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT01442181 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Minimally Invasive Surgical Treatment Versus Medical Management for Stroke Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

Start date: March 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare a minimally invasive surgical procedure and medication management in stroke patients with Atrial Fibrillation. The two treatment options are a minimally invasive surgical procedure or the use of medications.

NCT ID: NCT01441674 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Animal Assisted Therapy in a Pediatric Setting

AAT
Start date: January 2011
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary purpose for this study is to determine if children who receive Occupational Therapy while they are an inpatient in the hospital will be more motivated to participate in therapy as well as increase the amount of time they will work during that particular session when a therapy dog is present during their sessions. The investigators will also be collecting data regarding a child's heart rate and blood pressure prior to the session starting and ending to determine if having a therapy dog present also helps relax a child.

NCT ID: NCT01438593 Not yet recruiting - Ischemic Stroke Clinical Trials

Study of Purified Umbilical Cord Blood CD34+ Stem Cell on Chronic Ischemic Stroke

Start date: January 2013
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine the safety and possible effectiveness of brain transplants of CD34+ stem cells obtained from umbilical cord blood (UCB) to treat stroke.

NCT ID: NCT01437774 Suspended - Ischemic Stroke Clinical Trials

ReStore Thrombectomy Trial for Flow Restoration in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients

Start date: October 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The ReStoreā„¢ Thrombectomy device restores blood flow in the neurovascular by removing thrombus in patients experiencing ischemic stroke. Patients enrolled in the ReStore Trial will be randomized to treatment with the ReStoreā„¢ Thrombectomy Device (investigational treatment) or to treatment with a commercially available thrombectomy device It is expected that the investigational treatment safety profile in terms of clinically significant procedural adverse events will be comparable to the control group.

NCT ID: NCT01436630 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Step Test and Six Minute Walk Test in Stroke

Start date: February 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to investigate the viability of using the Step Test (ST) in stroke patients, and to compare the functional performance of the physiologic variables in stroke patients during ST and Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT).
