The Endocrine Colon in Humans

Colon
Start date: July 16, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will examine the role of the colon as an endocrine organ with a focus on the secretion of gastrointestinal peptides.

NCT ID: NCT04156503 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Pilot Study-Quantitative Analysis of Positional Fatty Acids in Postprandial Chylomicron Triacylglycerol Using 13C NMR Spectroscopy

Start date: October 18, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

13C NMR spectroscopy has been validated to be a rapid, direct and accurate quantitative method in determination of positional distribution of fatty acids in edible oils and fats, including the palm oil fractions (from soft olein to hard stearin). Nevertheless, there is paucity of literature describing its application in determining the positional fatty acid composition in blood triacylglycerols & biological samples, despite its widely used application in edible oils and fats. The postprandial feeding intervention is aimed to harvest chylomicron rich in triglycerides (~97% TAG) for NMR analysis.

NCT ID: NCT04149288 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Olive Oil Polyphenols and Cardiovascular Health Biomarkers

Start date: October 6, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this research is to investigate whether consuming two different kinds of olive oil will change risk factors related to cardiovascular disease, including levels of good and bad cholesterol, levels of inflammation, and levels of gene expression.

NCT ID: NCT04139187 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Biomechanics Responses to Power and Strength Combined Training

Start date: September 15, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most frequently injured knee ligament during performance of recreational activities and sports. In the United States, the annual incidence is 68.6 per 100,000 people per year and in Brazil, the estimation of ACL reconstruction increases 64%. There are different biomechanical profiles of risk factors for an ACL injury variable, the ligament dominance, the quadriceps dominance, the trunk dominance, and the leg dominance. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate the biomechanics adaptations after power and strength combined training protocol in healthy individuals. A second aim is to determine the effect of the training on knee injury risk factors.

NCT ID: NCT04110743 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

EXPLORER PET/CT in Healthy Volunteers

Start date: June 19, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this pilot study is to collect preliminary data using total body scans on a new, first of its kind, FDA 510k-cleared positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner, called EXPLORER.

NCT ID: NCT04100200 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Berries, Inflammation, and Gut Microbiome

Start date: October 7, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objectives are to characterize changes in indices of systemic and gut inflammation, assess host- and microbial-derived metabolite pools, and describe and link functional metagenomics and metatranscriptomic alterations in the gut microbiome with metabolite and inflammatory outcomes after acute (24hr) and chronic (4 week) intake of anthocyanins and ellagitannins from strawberry and red raspberries compared to a control diet (negative control), FOS (positive control, non-polyphenol, carbohydrate-based fermentable fiber/pre-biotic), or combination diet (berry composite + FOS) in human participants with low-grade inflammation.

NCT ID: NCT04085627 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

A Bioequivalence Study of Valsartan / Amlodipine From Valsartan and Amlodipine Tablets (Hua Yuan Pharmaceutical LLC, China) and Valsartan and Amlodipine Tablets (Ⅰ) (Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG, Switzerland)

ABSVAFVATVAT
Start date: October 8, 2018
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Comparative randomized, single dose, three periods, three-way crossover open-label study to determine the bioequivalence of Valsartan and Amlodipine Tablets (Hua yuan Pharmaceutical LLC, China) and Valsartan and Amlodipine Tablets (Ⅰ) (Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG, Switzerland).

NCT ID: NCT03947528 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Bioavailability Study of Two Formulations of Sarpogrelate HCl 300mg Tablets Under Fed Conditions

Sarpogrelate
Start date: March 4, 2019
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

A Single-dose, Comparative Bioavailability Study of Two Formulations of Sarpogrelate HCl 300mg Tablets Under Fed Conditions

NCT ID: NCT03945552 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Pediatric Parenting Support in Flint

Start date: July 23, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Public health disasters have disproportionate impacts on low income communities, through pathways that add to those of poverty and associated stressors, and act over extended periods. Very young children are highly vulnerable to long-term impacts on development and mental health in the context of parenting challenges following disasters, yet frequently receive the least attention and resources. This study will test the role of universal parenting support in enhancing young children's development and mental health in Flint, Michigan following the Flint Water Crisis.

NCT ID: NCT03929250 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Pharmacokinetics of Centella Asiatica in the Elderly

Start date: July 5, 2019
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study will measure the oral bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of known bioactive compounds from a standardized Centella asiatica water extract (CAW) product (CAP) in cognitively healthy elders.
