Effects of an Encapsulated Calcium Butyrate Dietary Supplement on Gut Health

Start date: October 23, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this single-arm pilot study is to investigate the effects of an encapsulated calcium butyrate dietary supplement on gastrointestinal (GI) health outcomes in healthy adults, including GI symptom severity (e.g., gas/flatulence and abdominal bloating), bowel habits (frequency and consistency), digestion-associated quality of life, and measures of GI permeability.

NCT ID: NCT06387940 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Acute Metabolic Effects of Carbohydrate Restriction at Varying Energy Levels

Start date: November 5, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study investigates how different low-carbohydrate diets affect metabolism and hunger in overweight adults. We will measure metabolic rates and blood metabolites.

NCT ID: NCT06387277 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Re-epithelialization Efficacy Evaluation of Cosmetic Product RV1551P vs Non-treated Forearm of Healthy Adult Women

Start date: September 19, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the product RV1551P GB3224 on skin microbiota during wound healing process, based on swab samples collected from lesion areas using an epidermally ablated skin model of erbium YAG laser.

NCT ID: NCT06383910 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

The Effect Of Square Stepping Exercise Training On Cognitive Functions And Quality Of Life In Geriatric Individuals

Start date: October 12, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study was designed to investigate the effects of Square-Stepping Exercise Training on cognitive functions and quality of life in geriatric individuals. The volunteer participants in the study were randomly divided into two groups: a square-stepping exercise group and a control group. In the study, participants in the exercise training groups received square stepping exercises three days a week for six weeks, while those in the control group did not undergo any training. Both groups were assessed before and six weeks after the training period. The investigators used several assessment tools including Hodkinson's Mental Test, Montreal Cognitive Assessment, Stroop Test, Trail Making Test, and the Turkish World Health Organization Quality-of-Life Scale.

NCT ID: NCT06383117 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Understanding Effects of Calcium on the Gut-Bone Axis

Start date: October 17, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study team is inviting 13 healthy people to complete a study to explore how calcium affects hormones and bones after eating. Participants will be asked to complete two study visits within eight weeks. Before each visit, participants will be asked to not eat or drink (except water) for 9 hours. At each visit, participants will eat the same meal provided by the research team. Along with their meal, they will take a pill - in one session, this will be a calcium supplement, and in the other, a placebo (a pill with no calcium), but they won't know which one they are taking at which session. A phlebotomist will draw blood before the meal and pill, then again several times after eating. Blood draws will take place over three hours. During that time, participants will complete questionnaires about health, diet, and physical activity. Blood will be analyzed to check on various health indicators, like bone health markers and certain hormones, to see how they change after the meal. The difference in these health indicators between the calcium and placebo sessions will help the study team understand the impact of calcium on health after eating. This could help increase knowledge of the impact of calcium on hormones and bone health.

NCT ID: NCT06380088 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Improving Motor Skills: The Role of Music and Encouragement

Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study used a randomised crossover design to analyse the effect of three different experimental interventions - i.e. standard conditions, music and verbal encouragement - on performance in an isometric endurance task, comparing results between untrained and trained individuals. The interval between each intervention was set at seven days. The outcome measures are muscle activity and fatigue, assessed by surface electromyography, and task duration. Isometric endurance task requires participants to keep their arm flexed at a 90° angle while holding a dumbbell with a supine grip loaded to 80% of 1RM on the dominant side of the body. During execution, the back and head should remain in contact with a vertical wall, with the feet shoulder width apart and firmly planted on the floor. The bar is held with the dominant arm while the other arm remains in a neutral position close to the body. It is imperative to avoid any form of rocking or movement that would make it easier to maintain the position. The test officially begins when the bar is handed to the subject, who is already in the correct position, and ends as soon as the angle of the arm varies by more than five degrees from the starting position.

NCT ID: NCT06378684 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

NCT ID: NCT06367452 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Exploratory Pilot Study to Evaluate the Pharmacokinetic Profile of Magaldrate

Start date: October 31, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical pilot study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetic profile of magaldrate in a group of 10 healthy women, after the administration of a 10 mL drug suspension containing 500 mg of sodium alginate, 267 mg of sodium bicarbonate, 800 mg of magaldrate and 120 mg of simeticone. The main question it aims to answer is the amount of magnesium and/or aluminum, if any, absorbed into the plasma from this oral administration. Participants will take the medication 30 minutes after a standard breakfast. Both groups of participants will take the standard meal but one group will take the medication and the other one won't. Researchers will compare the levels of both ions in plasma in a group to see if there is any absorption, quantifying the basal plasma levels and comparing with the levels obtained after the meal and the medication, when it applies.
