Filter by:Depressive disorders are among the most common psychiatric disorders. However, this disorder is multifaceted, as are its etiological factors, and is not yet fully understood. Within the framework of the P4D study, 1000 patients with depression will be comprehensively examined. In addition to the recording of psychological factors by means of questionnaires and third-party assessments, imaging and electrophysiological procedures (functional and structural MRI, EEG) are used to assess brain structure and function. In addition, blood is drawn from the subjects to analyze these samples for various biological markers (e.g., genetics). Drug level measurements are also performed. The goal is to perform an in-depth characterization (phenotyping) of individuals with a depressive disorder. These findings could be used to individualize and improve therapy for depressive disorders.
Sleep is not simply the absence of wakefulness. Sleep is an active procedure, normally happening every night, and is absolutely vital. Good sleep is essential for our well-being. Survival without food can be further than without sleep. Work time and commuting time seem to affect total sleep time and night bedtime. Social and work obligation can, therefore, suppress sleep time. Sleep deprived individuals may be facing anxiety and depression symptoms. The aim of this study is to investigate the presence of anxiety and depression symptoms among adults with the use of the smartphone application Onar. Onar app will be used to gather information from wearable devices of the users including total sleep time, sleep efficiency, wake after sleep onset time. An established questionnaire (Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale/ HADS) will be used to quantify and detect the presence of anxiety and depression in the study population.
Background Mental health issues are common and often overlooked in COPD patients. Digital psychological interventions might help, but their effectiveness in Chinese COPD patients hasn't been studied. This study aims to develop and evaluate EmoEase, a digital psychological intervention, for its effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in improving mental wellbeing in Chinese COPD patients. Methods This multicenter, two-arm, randomized controlled trial (RCT) will enroll at least 420 COPD patients over 35 years old. Participants will receive either usual care (control group) or usual care plus EmoEase (intervention group). Assessments will occur at baseline (T0), 4 weeks (T1), 8 weeks (T2), and 16 weeks (T3). Participants will complete questionnaires and undergo physical measurements. The primary outcome will be mental wellbeing measured by the Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMWBS). Secondary outcomes will assess mental and physical health, COPD symptoms, health risk behaviors, socioeconomic factors, and healthcare use and costs. Analyses will use an intention-to-treat approach. Discussion This is the first RCT to evaluate EmoEase for COPD patients. If effective and cost-effective, EmoEase could be scaled up to provide mental health support to COPD patients in China.
This will be the first pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) study that investigate the potential effectiveness of individual PM+ among earthquake survivors residing in container cities in Türkiye. The primary objective of this pilot study will be to test feasibility, acceptability, and potential effectiveness of individual PM+ for Turkish earthquake survivors, using RCT design which is considered the gold standard in research for evaluating effectiveness of interventions. Secondly, this study aims to test trial procedures in preparation for a future larger randomized controlled trial.
The study is a single-case intervention study, evaluating effects of the treatment Behavioral activation and emotion-focused interventions for depression. Research question and hypothesis 1. What is the effect of behavioural activation and emotion-focused interventions on patients' ratings of depressive symptoms, behavioural activation and emotion regulation difficulties? 2. What is the effect of behavioural activation and emotion-focused interventions on patients' overall psychiatric state, with regards to ratings of anxiety, quality of life, level of functioning? 3. How does patient ratings of behavioural activation and emotion regulation difficulties and skills change during the course of treatment, in relation to treatment/session content?
Bipolar disorder (BD) affects between 1-3% of the world's population. People with BD experience episodes of mania or hypomania and in most cases, they experience periods of depression which can cause difficulties in daily life. Psychological therapies for people experiencing depression without mania or hypomania are widely available, but there is little research into how effective these therapies are for people with BD. Behavioral activation therapy (BA) is based on behavioral theory and has been proven to be an effective treatment for unipolar depression. It helps people re-establish healthier activity patterns and sleep regulation, especially in BD for mood stabilization. BA is theoretically and clinically well matched to the treatment of bipolar depression, but there is still very little research into offering BA to people with BD. The first aim of the current research is to implement BA for people with depression in Bipolar Disorder and study if it is feasible for this patient group. The second aim is to do a pilot study on the effectiveness of the treatment for this patient group. The research will be implemented with people seeking treatment at the specialized service for bipolar disorder at Landspítali University Hospital in Iceland. The participants will receive treatment as usual and the BA will be adjunctive. At least ten people, that are currently experiencing Bipolar Depression and are willing to take part, will receive up to 20 individual therapy sessions of BA that have been adapted for Bipolar Depression (BA-BD), and will complete regular questionnaires and interviews. The study will be a replication study to validate the previous study's findings by Kim, W. et al., 2022 in another setting.
Infertility affects married adults, and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) that can be treated. Women undergoing IVF are more likely to experience depression. There is a need to reduce depression by supporting and advising sufferers. The aim of this study is to evaluate pharmacist counseling's impact on pregnancy rates in depressed infertile females during IVF treatment.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Tidal Model-based emotion regulation interventions on recovery in individuals diagnosed with depression and nursing diagnosis of impaired mood regulation. The research was designed as a randomized controlled trial. The main hypothesis; After nursing interventions for emotion regulation based on the Tidal Model, there is a significant difference between the recovery, difficulty in emotion regulation, depression levels and nursing outcome criteria of individuals in the intervention and control groups.
This virtual, open-label, three-group, randomized-controlled trial will last six weeks. Participants will be allocated into three groups; the Intervention Group, Spotify Group, and Control Group. All participants will complete a baseline questionnaire before completing their designated regime daily for six weeks. In addition, participants will complete study-specific surveys and validated questionnaires at the end of each week (Week 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6). The study will include 75 [participants in total, 25 per group, who all have self-reported concerns around anxiety, stress, or depression. Questionnaires will be used to monitor sleep, cognitive ability, and changes in symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress. Both study-specific questionnaires and validated questionnaires will be utilized, including the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Assessment (GAD-7), the 9-question Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and The World Health Organisation- Five Well-Being Index (WHO-5). Likert scale responses will be examined from baseline to each check-in. Participant responses on product feedback will be presented as % scores.
An implantable cardiac defibrillator (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator; ICD) can effectively improve heart rhythm problems and reduce sudden death, and is widely used in the treatment of high-risk patients with fatal arrhythmias or heart rhythm problems that cannot be controlled by drugs . In the whole case of arrhythmia, after receiving home-based cardiac fibrillator treatment, Patients often experience uncertainty, feel the changes in heart, feel the shock of being shocked by the electric shock, and worry about death, These psychological distress, which were characterized by anxiety and depression. for universal. About 25% of patients present with symptoms of anxiety at the time of hospitalization, and 50% suffer from depression which seriously affects quality of life. Therefore, the main purpose of this study to alleviate the occurrence of anxiety and depression, promote disease patients to regain life adaptation, develop accessible care strategies with midfulness-based intervention to help patients overcome psychological distress, reduce stress, anxiety and prevent depression.
