Telephone Support vs. Self-guidance in an Internet-based Self-administered Psychological Program to Address Depression

Start date: June 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Depression is a first level problem that poses a challenge for Primary Care (PC). The overload of care in this area requires lower-cost and more accessible alternatives. Internet-based self-applied cognitive behavioral treatments (CBCT) have demonstrated their efficacy and added advantages. The "Smiling is fun" program has been validated in Spanish PC and has demonstrated its usefulness and cost-effectiveness. Previous studies have shown that professional support or guidance increases the results of the TCCI. The aim of the present study is to contrast, by means of a randomized controlled trial, aims to examine the effectiveness, adherence rates, and implementation process of Smiling is Fun to address depression in a PC setting considering the influence of telephone support vs no support. Ultimately, the results of the study could help in the uptake of sustainable resources so that the population could gain better access to psychological interventions in mental health services.

Stress Management in Depressive Disorder: Resilience Training vs. Yoga: Biological, Epigenetic, and Brain Correlates

Start date: April 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effects of a Resilience and Stress Management Intervention Program (RASMUS) compared with yoga on stress perception, coping strategies, depressive symptoms, anxiety, resilience and quality of life in people diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) in the short and long term. In addition to psychological factors, biological parameters will be examined to define biomarkers involved in stress response. In the optional neuroimaging part, the effects of the planned interventions on the structure, metabolism and function of the brain will be investigated. The epigenetic part, which is also optional, will examine the effects of the planned interventions on the histone modifications.

Mental Health Support for Transgender and Gender-expansive Individuals

Start date: March 15, 2022
Phase: N/A

NCT ID: NCT06222528 Recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Reducing Stigma and Increasing Treatment Seeking Intentions Among Adolescents

Start date: May 31, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Depression is a leading cause of illness and disability in teenagers. Longer duration of untreated depression (DUD) is associated with greater severity, poorer outcome, and cognitive impairment. Stigma toward people with depression has been identified as a barrier to seeking help; therefore, reducing stigma toward young people at depressive risk could enhance their receptivity to seeking treatment. Social contact is a form of interpersonal contact with members of the stigmatized group and the most effective type of intervention for improvement in stigma-related knowledge and attitudes. In a prior study, the investigators developed short video interventions to reduce stigma and increase treatment seeking among adolescents with depression. The videos feature adolescent protagonists varied by race/ethncitiy and gender (Black girl, Black boy, White girl, White boy, Hispanic girl, Hispanic boy, nonbinary or transgender adolescent) who will share their experiences with depression, challenges, and recovery process. The investigators would like to conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to test the efficacy of these tailored videos as compared to a video control condition (which provides information about depression and how to seek help but does not include a personal story) on reducing self-stigma and increasing help-seeking intentions and behavior at baseline, post, 2 week follow-up, and 4 week follow-up among adolescents ages 14-18 recruited via Cloudresearch. The videos will be shown again at 2 week follow-up.
