Aims: To assess the efficacy of symptom-limited stair-climbing test (SLSCT), in determining the exercise capacities of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) in comparison with cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and 6-minute walk test(6MWT) and to interpret the results according to the clinical status of the patients. Methods: Thirty-one patients, aged 50-75 years, with stage II-III CHF according to the New York Heart Association Classification and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of ≤45% were included. The demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients were recorded. Exercise capacity was assessed by SLSCT, 6MWT, and CPET. The duration of patients' performance in the test, reasons for ending the test and predicted maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) were recorded. Heart rate (HR), blood pressure (BP), dyspnoea severity [Modified Borg Scale (MBS)] and peripheral oxygen saturation were recorded. Pulmonary functions were assessed by spirometry.
The purpose of this study is to determine if medically tailored meals provided for either 2 weeks or 4 weeks (1 meal per day) to a Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) member after hospital discharge will improve their health. Medically tailored meals (MTM) are meals that are approved by a dietitian and shown to help people with certain health conditions.
The objective of this study is to retrospectively gather information on patients who underwent a CIED procedure with either a CanGaroo Envelope, TYRX Envelope, or no envelope.
This is a pragmatic, non-inferiority clinical trial, enrolling heart failure patients who will be randomized to a 12-week exercise training program either centre-based or home-based with telemonitoring. The impact of this intervention will be assessed on established surrogate markers in HF such as maximal exercise capacity, plasma biomarkers and quality of life. The cost-effectiveness and overall satisfaction with the treatment will also be studied. In addition to measure the clinical and economic impact of this innovative way of delivering exercise, it is intended to unravel new molecular pathways and assess a pool of biomarkers that provide a wide mechanistic picture underlying the clinical effects of exercise.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate if the digital support and communication platform for heart failure can provide patients with heart failure increased knowledge, compliance and quality of life and thus affect re-admissions and visit structure. To evaluate whether a digital support and communication platform for heart failure patients after 6 months can provide: 1. Improved self-care 2. Improved quality of life and reduced number of patient-assessed symptoms 3. Reduction in the number of cardiovascular events, hospital nights, the number of hospitalizations or the number of deaths and out-patient visits
International, Multicenter, Double-Blind, Placebo and Active Control Efficacy and Safety Study to Evaluate Verinurad combined with Allopurinol in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction
Patients with heart failure (HF) need multiple guideline-directed medications to control the systolic and/or diastolic ventricular dysfunction. Laboratory measure the biomarker NT-proBNP (N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide) to support clinical decision and to guide treatment at every stage of HF. Many patients (including HF patients) do not follow therapeutic recommendations. Electronic monitoring of medication intake gives precise information over time and is the gold standard to unveil inappropriate behaviour. Electronic Health Records (EHR) are repository of patient health data in digital format and are mostly locally configured in medical practices. We aim to transmit laboratory results of NT-proBNP and estimates of medication adherence into the EHR system of primary care providers, with the objective to guide treatment and dose adjustment of multiple medications in patients with HF. Our project is *not* to develop a telemonitoring system.
The purpose of this study is to optimize the complex treatment of chronic heart failure of non-ischemic etiology by supplementing umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells to the standard drug therapy.
The purpose of the study is to assess the safety of BMS-986259 in stable participants hospitalized for acute decompensated heart failure.
