NCT ID: NCT06214741 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

A Study to Test Whether Survodutide (BI 456906) Helps Chinese People Living With Overweight or Obesity to Lose Weight

Start date: January 15, 2024
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study in China is open to adults who are at least 18 years old who are living with overweight or obesity. People with a body mass index (BMI) of 28 kg/m^2 or higher or 24 kg/m^2 or higher with at least 1 weight related problem can join the study. The main purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called survodutide helps people with overweight or obesity. 2 different doses of survodutide are tested in this study. Participants are put into 3 groups by chance. Each participant has an equal chance of being in each group. 2 groups get different doses of survodutide. 1 group gets placebo. Participants get survodutide or placebo as injections under the skin once a week for about 19 months. Placebo injections look like survodutide injections but do not contain any medicine. Participants are in the study for about 21 months. During this time, there are 20 visits. 14 visits are in person at the study site. Where possible, 6 visits can be done by video call, or by phone in rare cases. During this time, doctors regularly measure participant's body weight. Results are compared between the survodutide groups and placebo group to see whether the treatment works. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

NCT ID: NCT06208345 Recruiting - Childhood Obesity Clinical Trials

Early Life Intervention in Pediatrics Supported by E-health

ELIPSE-I
Start date: February 16, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Childhood obesity in early life contributes to the development of specific NCDs, i.e. adult obesity. Unhealthy diet and low level of physical activity are lifestyle risk behaviors associated with chronic, systemic inflammation, which promotes the pathogenesis of NCDs. Early preventive measures to improve lifestyle behavior are of utmost importance. The aim of ELIPSE-I is to assess whether an eHealth application intervention for parents is feasible and efficacious in lowering total energy intake/total energy expenditure (TEI/TEE) ratio in their children with BMI >97 centile (ELIPSE-I).

NCT ID: NCT06208072 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

The Predictive Role of Urinary Proteomics in Blood Pressure Response of Obese Hypertensive Treated With Irbesartan or Eplerenone.

Start date: September 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Despite the available means of treating primary arterial hypertension, the prevalence of hypertensive patients with inadequately controlled blood pressure levels, remains high. The identification of biomarkers with prognostic and predictive roles seems to play an important role in the management of hypertensive patients. Proteomic analysis studies provide encouraging results in the identification of such biomarkers. The goal of this clinical study is to is to highlight peptides through urinary proteomic analysis of obese hypertensive patients, capable of predicting blood pressure response, following treatment with irbesartan or eplerenone.

NCT ID: NCT06207877 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

A Research Study to Look at How CagriSema Influences Food Intake, Appetite and Emptying of the Stomach in People With Excess Body Weight

Start date: February 23, 2024
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This research study tests if CagriSema influences food intake, appetite and emptying of the stomach in people with excess body weight. Participant will either get CagriSema (active medicine) or placebo (a dummy medicine), which has no effect on the body. The treatment participants get is decided by chance. The study will last for about 32 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT06202365 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Whole Body Vibration in Obese Female Students

Start date: December 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obesity is a global public-health issue, with rising incidence and prevalence, significant expenditures, and poor results. Obesity has become a worldwide epidemic in both developed and underdeveloped countries. A body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 is required for class I obesity, a BMI of 35 - 39.9 kg/m2 is required for class II obesity, and a BMI of 40 kg/m2 is required for class III obesity (morbidly obese). Obesity will be the likely situation for the majority of the adult population during the next two decades due to an abundance of calorie-rich food and apathy toward exercise.

NCT ID: NCT06200467 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

A Study to Test Whether Multiple Doses of BI 456906 Have an Effect on Cardiac Safety in People With Overweight or Obesity

Start date: March 4, 2024
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study is open to adults between 18 and 55 years of age with overweight or obesity. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called survodutide (BI 456906) has an effect on cardiac safety. When a new medicine is developed, it is important to check whether it affects the heart. Moxifloxacin is a medicine that is known to change the heart rhythm. In this study, moxifloxacin is used as a so-called positive control. Participants are put into 3 groups by chance. There is a different treatment schedule for each of the groups. All participants start with one placebo injection under their skin. The next day, depending on the group, participants take either moxifloxacin or placebo as a tablet. Then, for about 30 weeks, participants receive survodutide or placebo as an injection under their skin once a week. After this, they take again a single dose of moxifloxacin or placebo. Participants are in the study for up to 9 months. During this time, they visit the study site regularly. For 2 of the visits, participants stay at the study site for 2 nights. During these visits, the doctors collect information about participants' health. To assess the study endpoints, the study staff regularly performs ECG tests. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

NCT ID: NCT06195748 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Ankle Kinesio Taping on Balance and Functional Performance in Obese Females.

Start date: December 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obesity is one of the most dangerous factors affecting the joints, which must be prevented due to arthritis and the long-lasting, tiring effects that affect a person's life [1], The most important of these are foot problems due to weight and excess pressure, It is also one of the factors that greatly affects walking movement because it increases the load on joint movement, This increases the risk of musculoskeletal diseases.

NCT ID: NCT06194175 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Alcohol Consumption After Bariatric Surgery

Start date: May 30, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A large body of studies indicate an increase in alcohol use disorder (AUD) rates after bariatric surgery. However, little information exists on the evolution of other drinking patterns after surgery and the psychological predictors of problematic drinking postoperatively. The identification of these factors is necessary for the implementation of prevention strategies regarding postoperative problematic alcohol use. The aim of this research is to examine the evolution of various drinking patterns after bariatric surgery as well as the psychological factors associated with AUD and an increase in postoperative alcohol consumption.
