Filter by:The purpose of this study is to quantify the brain distribution of the nicotinic receptors in human volunteers and their alterations in patients suffering from neurological diseases such as Parkinson and Alzheimer diseases and familial epilepsy. This will be done using Postron Emission Tomography (PET) and a new radiotracer of the nicotinic receptors.
Inexperienced rescuers may encounter severe problems in an unconscious patient in opening and maintaining an upper airway patent. Designing a ventilating device that could indicate how to open an upper airway correctly may be beneficial. The head of children is randomly placed in different head positions by one investigator. A ventilating mask is then pressed gently on the child's face followed by measurement of the head position angles and pulmonary function. This information could be utilised to optimise assisted ventilation of an unprotected upper airway in children.
The Visu-Loc spring clip is being used to occlude the cystic duct at the time of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A hepato-iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scan will be completed on post operative day one to check for biliary leaks.
The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of a single dose of FXR-450 in healthy Japanese men.
The primary objective of this study is to describe the safety and tolerability of 3 doses of MEDI-560 at 10^5 TCID50 when administered to children 6 to < 12 months of age who are HPIV3 (human parainfluenza virus type 3) seronegative at baseline and to infants 1 to < 3 months of age regardless of baseline serostatus.
This study involves 60 healthy volunteers aged between 18 and 50 recruited from the general community. It involves doing a set of simple memory tests while inside a fMRI machine. The subject is given a very low dose of an anesthetic drug intravenously while in the scanner. The subject then sees a sequence of pictures on a screen, and presses a button if they remember seeing the picture before. While this is happening, the scanner will be capturing images that tell us what parts of the brain are active. Hypothesis: patterns of hippocampal and amygdala activation during the encoding and retrieval of memory,as measured by fMRI, will be altered by intravenous anesthetics such that suppression of hippocampal and amygdala activities will be dissociable. This dissociation pattern will be different between the drugs propofol and thiopental.
The purpose of the study is to determine the most effective formulation of HAL for release of hexaminolevulinate to the cervical epithelium at different doses.
The purpose of this clinical trial is to evaluate various commercially available ultrasound systems and to identify imaging parameters to be used with these systems (along with the contrast agent PB127) as well as to further evaluate the safety of PB127.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the efficacy of infant formula having proportion of palmitate in the sn-2 position comparable to human milk in Chinese term infants.
We aim to compare the morphological and chromosomal features of human embryos cultured In Vitro versus those developed in a new In Vivo culture system with encapsulation in utero as well as implantation and pregnancy rate.
