Filter by:The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) Research Institute is performing this research to accelerate Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease research and drug development by using cells from the body (such as skin or blood cells) to make stem cells and other types of cells, conduct research on the samples, perform genetic testing, and/or store the samples for future use. Through this research, researchers hope to identify future treatments or even cures for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
Pro-Health is a single-center, double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled intervention study in healthy adults. The investigators address the effect of a dietary food supplementation of propionic acid on the immune system and the function of the intestinal barrier in healhty adults.
Objective: This study is designed to address the complex interplay between the gut microbiome, environmental factors, and inflammatory diseases, with a specific emphasis on serving as a healthy cohort for several related projects. Primary hypotheses: Since data from this study will be used as control data for four studies, four primary hypothesis will be defined. Hypothesis H1: Levels of intestinal inflammation will be substantially higher in Zimbabweans living in rural areas and low-resource settings (i.e. high-density areas) compared to Zimbabwean and Swiss individuals living in high-resource settings. Hypothesis H2: Bottlenecks and blooms of bacterial strains are less frequent in healthy participants than in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and bacterial strains will have lower mutation rates in healthy patients when compared to strains from IBD subjects (partner study: BASEC 2021-00871). Hypothesis H3: Longitudinal changes of the faecal microbiome of healthy Swiss individuals differ systematically compared to longitudinal changes of the faecal microbiome of Swiss UC patients with active disease (partner study: BASEC 2022-02008). Hypothesis H4: The HRV of healthy Swiss individuals differ systematically from HRV of Swiss IBD patients and can be associated with differentially abundant bacterial taxa (partner study: BASEC 2022-02008).
The goal of this clinical trial is to define and compare pre-load dependance of the cardiac function according to the intracardiac hydrostatic gradient of pressure in healthy and diabetic populations. Participants will undergo 4 tilt angle and 4 lower body negative pressure intensities during which cardiovascular data will be assessed and a transthoracic echography will be performed.
The goal of this observational study is to learn about the distribution of bioimpedance vector of healthy neonates in China in health conditions. The main question it aims to answer are:whether the distribution of bioimpedance vector of healthy neonates in China is correspond to that in other countries.Participants will be measures by NUTRILAB impedance analyzer (Akern, Florence, Italy).
This study aims to evaluate tongue protrusion motor skills in healthy adults and to assess the reliability of these measurements as well as their validity in relation to other motor functions (handgrip and respiratory muscles).
The aim of this study is to identify biologically viable targets for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety disorder (AD) with the ultimate goal of guiding physicians' therapeutic strategies and identifying more effective and safer treatments for patients. Following the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the investigators will recruit 10 patients with a diagnosis of anxious-depressive disorder (MDD-AD) and 10 healthy controls (HC) subjects. Each participant will be evaluated by a team of expert psychologists and physicians, who will be conducting a structured interview and administering a set of psychopathological scales to assess the symptoms' severity. The participants will also undergo7T multimodal neuroimaging session (including T1-weighted, 1H-MRS and fMRI). In the second part of the study, murine models will be used to study the role of integrin β3 (Itgb3) and protocadherin 9 (Pcdh9) in glutamatergic transmission at a molecular level and to evaluate whether the electrophysiological and behavioral defects identified in Itgb3- and Pcdh9-knockout mice can be restored by CRISPR-mediated transcription activation (CRISPRa).
This study aims to obtain normative values for tongue motor functions in healthy children.
Taking and moving objects is essential. When this becomes difficult, it affects daily functioning. This study aims to determine movement patterns, at the level of the shoulder, during different functional movements in elderly people aged 60 years and older. Movement patterns of people without shoulder problems and patients with a reverse shoulder prosthesis will be compared. These insights can contribute to improving functional rehabilitation in patients with a reverse shoulder prosthesis (RSA).
The working hypotheses are as follows: #1 The processing of performance signals by automated lognormal segmentation and the extraction of the parameters of interest will make it possible to distinguish groups of patients from healthy elderly subjects. #2 The three instrumental approaches will not have the same degree of reliability as a predictive biomarker of clinical diagnosis established by consensus.
