Filter by:The aim of the study is to test the pilot effectiveness of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in decreasing psychological distress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms and increasing well-being in earthquake survivors in Türkiye, using randomized controlled trial study design, which is considered the gold standard in research for evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. This pilot study will help to identify any further adaptations required prior to further effectiveness testing in a large cluster randomized controlled trial. Study hypothesis: Hypothesis 1: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher decrease in PTSD symptoms compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at the post-assessment. Hypothesis 2: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher decrease in depressive symptom severity compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at the post-assessment. Hypothesis 4: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher decrease in anxiety severity compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at the post-assessment. Hypothesis 5: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher increase in well-being compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at post-assessment.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and feasibility of sequencing psilocybin therapy with a short-duration, aiTBS protocol (Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy, or SAINT) in individuals with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder.
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effect of three level interventions(universal prevention, selective prevention and targeted prevention) in elderly depression and find out the most efficient intervention path. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Whether the pre-disease three-level prevention model (universal prevention, selective prevention and targeted prevention) is applicable for elderly depression in urban communities; - Which level of intervention has the best effect on elderly depression. Participants will be given the following treatments: - Level 1 intervention(universal prevention): Health education related to depression to strengthen the participants' self-care skills to reduce sub-health risk factors. - Level 2 intervention(selective prevention): Psychosocial interventions (including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, mindfulness training) aimed at risk factors to prevent more severe depressive symptoms. - Level 3 intervention(targeted prevention): Therapeutic psychosocial interventions (including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, mindfulness training) to reduce patients' depressive symptoms. Researchers will compare control group to see if the three levels of intervention have a significant effect.
Post-partum depression (PPD) is a prevalent subtype of major depressive disorder that causes a significant distress to the woman and substantial impact on the whole family. Many studies implicate the glutamatergic system in pathological processes relevant to PPD disorders. There is evidence that cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) play a key role in how glutamatergic circuits wire up during development and how glutamatergic synapses, once formed, operate. However, it is unclear how dysregulation in diverse CAMs alter glutamatergic circuitries responsible for emotional and social behavior. Here, the investigators propose to evaluate the molecular and neurobiological underpinnings of PPD focusing on CAMs at glutamatergic synapses by using an integrated approach from mouse models to human patients. Moreover, the investigators will also perform a pilot study to investigate the impact of selective antidepressants, known to be linked to CAMs, in both human and mice.
This study aims to address the following research questions: 1. Evaluate the effectiveness of a Supporting Transition and Resilience to Clinical Nursing Education (STRONG) program on first year nursing students' anxiety, depression, stress, resilience, practice readiness, physical activity and eating behaviours. 2. Explore first year nursing students' experiences and perception of the STRONG program. Participants will be invited to participate in an asynchronous online STRONG program
The aim of this hybrid (Effectiveness-Implementation) cluster randomised controlled clinical trial is to test the feasibility of implementing an age-appropriate electronic version of the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Programme Intervention Guide (emhGAP-Age) in routine home-based care of older Nigerians with depression. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Whether the emhGAP-Age demonstrate sufficient signals of effectiveness in the identification and home management of late life depression to permit for further exploration in a fully powered clinical trial? 2. What are the logistical, programmatic, and operational requirements for a home-delivered emhGAP-Age in a sample of older people with depression in Nigeria? Consenting older participants with depression in the intervention arm will receive treatment based on emhGAP-Age which consists of; - Adapted electronic generic version of the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Programme Intervention Guide (emhGAP-IG) - Adapted Problem-Solving Therapy (PST-PC) - Support/supervision of providers - Links to social support resources. Researchers will compare with treatment based on the basic specification in the generic emhGAP-IG (consisting of basic psychoeducation and stress reduction) for effects on depression remission.
Black and Latino youth are more likely to experience an unmet mental health or psychosocial need than do their white counterparts. Schools and primary care clinics are ideal hubs to provide mental health, healthcare, social services, and prevention to students and families who otherwise face barriers to care. Using Participatory Design and Community Partnered Participatory Research (CPPR) for app development, mobile technology is designed to optimize access to wellness resources. The proposed intervention is a model of care using technology and navigators for connecting youth ages 13-22 to mental health care and supports. The app is co-created with the community and supported by culturally responsive individuals called family and youth navigators, in schools and primary care clinics. Outcomes are measured using the cascade of care model.
1. The plasma concentrations of agomelatine and its two metabolites are simultaneously determined by High performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry; 2. The gene polymorphisms of CYP1A2, ABCB1 and CYP2C9 are detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization or fluorescence polymerase chain reaction; 3. The correlation of CYP1A2, ABCB1, CYP2C9 gene polymorphisms with the blood concentration of agomelatine and its two metabolites is investigated by pharmacokinetic study; 4. According to the correlation between the above genotypes and blood drug concentration, a lean medication guidance scheme for agomelatine will be formed.
Pilot study of the feasibility and utility of an early, in-hospital multidisciplinary intervention in ICU survivors at risk for psychological and physical problems post-ICU stay
Development and preliminary testing of a text messaging intervention that will reduce the risk of a major depressive episode and worsening depressive symptoms in perinatal individuals. The system will screen pregnant individuals, send tailored text messages with links to enhanced content, and will include a peer chat function.This accessible text platform will leverage both the ease of use inherent in text messages and the power of enhanced content drawn evidence from based behavioral interventions (Interpersonal Therapy).
