Filter by:The purpose of this study is to determine if treating stroke patients who have obstructive sleep apnea with continuous positive airway pressure will improve symptoms caused by the stroke.
1. To survey the health-related quality of life using the SF-36v2 score of patients with chronic brain infarction in Japan 2. Chronic brain infarction in Japan is better than EU/USA
The purpose of this study is to look at the heart rate and rhythm information collected daily in Medtronic implantable pulse generators (IPG), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. The study will gather this information from many patients to see if heart rate or rhythm data can predict the risk of a patient having a medical condition such as stroke.
The objective is to evaluate decision making of i.v. tPA treatment in acute stroke within 3 hours of symptom onset either remotely via videoconferencing system (investigational arm) beginning of treatment on-site and then transfer to stroke unit vs. decision after immediate transfer to stroke unit (usual care arm). Ten remote hospitals are connected to the BICHAT stroke unit. All patients will have stroke unit care at BICHAT hospital. Primary end-point is rankin 0-1 at 3 months.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Tanakan® 240mg in association with Acetylsalicylic acid (325mg/day) in the recovery of neurological impairment following ischemic stroke.
A single post-hospital discharge home visit by a geriatric nurse practitioner or geriatric fellow can bridge the gap and ease the transition for elderly frail patients returning home after hospital admission. We believe this intervention will reduce medication errors, ensure follow-up discharge plans, decrease re-hospitalization rates, and decrease morbidity and mortality.
Tolerability of a four weeks treatment with Aggrenox® modified release capsules b.i.d, compared to reduced dose during the first two weeks of treatment in a double-blind, randomized controlled parallel group comparison trial among Taiwanese patients with previous TIA's or ischemic stroke. To monitor frequency and intensity of headaches and other safety parameters among Taiwanese patients with previous TIA's or ischemic stroke given Aggrenox using a titration scheme or not
This research study is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of SUN N4057 (piclozotan) in subjects with acute ischemic stroke within 9 hours of the onset of symptoms.
The investigators are looking for individuals who have suffered a stroke to participate in an experiment examining the use of robotics in rehabilitation. They are trying to develop a robotic environment for hands after having had a stroke. Participants will interact with up to two small robots and a visual display. The experiment involves minimal risk and may involve testing sessions over multiple weeks. Subjects must be at least 1 year post-stroke and have difficulty picking up small objects. The purpose of the current proposal is to pilot a new and potentially improved treatment for neglect. The procedure involves the delivery of transcutaneous small-amplitude current to the vestibular nerves that lie directly below the mastoid bones.
