Filter by:A total of 52 overweight children aged between eight and sixteen years will be recruited by criterion based purposive sampling to participate in the two groups pretest post test randomized clinical study. Random allocation of the eligible subjects for treatment will be done by the block randomization method with matrix of thirteen rows and four columns (13x4). The subject will be allotted to the group randomly, based on the chit selected by the person other the primary researcher.Once the block is filled, the next row block will be opened. Thus equal distribution of overweight children in the each group will be ensured. Group A will be receiving actual core stability training (Level 1 - Mat exercises and Level 2 - Swiss Ball exercises) for 6 weeks with a frequency of three sessions per week.Group B will receive no training. Each session will last for 30 minutes of duration. The static and dynamic balance, foot pressure distribution and core strength will be assessed at the baseline and at the end of the treatment sessions.
This is a randomized prospective study to evaluate the effectiveness of a family-based intervention using activity-monitors (I.e. Fitbits) in children and adolescents aged 8-18 years with a BMI greater than or equal to 95%ile who attend the Cleveland Clinic multidisciplinary "Be Well" pediatric obesity clinic.
The main purpose of this study is to measure the effect of tirzepatide on food intake in participants who are overweight or very overweight. The study will also use imaging to learn more about how tirzepatide affects specific parts of the brain. The effect of tirzepatide on appetite will also be studied. The study will last up to about four months and will include up to 14 visits to the study center.
The study evaluates an intervention, The CIrCLE of Life Initiative, which was developed to address HIV and obesity prevention. We evaluated whether the combined HIV and obesity intervention increased knowledge, enhanced skills, and/or promoted healthy behaviour among pre-adolescent students (9-12 years old) and their parents.

The aim of this study is to determined the smallest significant value in osteodensitometry in obese population. The study population will be divided in 3 groups according to their BMI. Bone mineral density will be measured twice in osteodensitometry, then the smallest significant value will be determined. Our hypothesis is that the smallest significant value that we use in an non-obese population can be different in an obese population.
Growing evidence suggests that dynapenic abdominal obesity is associated with a greater risk of falls, functional disability and hospitalisation compared to those with dynapenia, obesity or neither phenotype. Understanding the pathogenesis underlying this phenotype has the potential to inform potential treatment strategies. MicroRNAs can act as messengers at the cellular level to promote or block processes for muscle growth and repair, amongst other things. There is evidence that ageing changes microRNA levels in the muscle and that these changes may result in reduced muscle quality and quantity. However, it is not known whether being obese can change microRNA levels in muscle and how this relates to physical performance. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of dynapenic abdominal obesity on microRNA levels in serum and muscle quality and quantity in the legs of older women. This is an observational, cross-sectional study. The investigators will recruit 4 groups of older women: normal weight, normal weight with dynapenia, obese and obese with dynapenia. The investigators will measure the microRNA levels in serum. The investigators will measure the quantity and fat content of muscle in the legs using magnetic resonance imaging. Muscle strength, fatigue and balance will be measured using gait (walking) analysis, balance tests, and a machine designed to measure leg strength and fatigue. The investigators will measure and compare microRNA levels between groups. The investigators will use databases and computer programmes to look at all of the microRNAs which are different between groups and see how they affect the muscle. The investigators will compare muscle strength, size and fatigue between groups. The investigators will explore relationships of muscle quantity and quality measures with microRNA changes in the muscle. This approach will allow the investigators to understand how obesity affects the microRNA profile of muscle and whether this translates into impairment of function and mobility.
The overall aim of this research is to investigate the acute effects of resistance exercise (REx) on the hormonal and behavioral indices of energy balance regulation in breast cancer survivors. This pilot study is designed to provide preliminary data to support future exercise interventions with more comprehensive energy balance profiling.
According to statistics from the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), taking into account the definition of overweight and obesity recommended by the International Obesity Task Fort (IOTF), the prevalence of overweight (including obesity) in European children aged 7 to 17 years is 16-22% and the prevalence of obesity is 4-6%. Some review studies3 and meta-analysis4,5 have reported an inverse relationship between dairy products consumption and the prevalence or incidence of overweight and obesity. However, some methodological issues arise from these analyses. For instance, the combination of studies with different exposures (e.g. full fat milk, total milk) in the total dairy product analysis. Moreover, since the publication of the lasts meta-analysis in 2016, new epidemiological studies evaluating the association between dairy product consumption and overweight or obesity risk have been published. Objective The aim of this work is to systematically review and assess the associations between total dairy consumption and its different subtypes with the prevalence and incidence of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents.
Obesity treatment interventions have been studied in pediatric primary care offices and are often conducted in low-income and minority populations, and pediatric obesity clinics. Key components of programs that have been shown to be effective include parent engagement providing physical activity, nutrition and behavior education and at least 26 hours of total contact time. However, there is little guidance in the literature describing translation of successful programs into sustainable, real-world practice for uninsured children and families. To the investigator's knowledge no studies in the United States have evaluated the feasibility of implementing a fitness and nutrition program in safety net clinics where uninsured parents and their children receive health care. The objectives of this project were to design an evidence-based, family-centered fitness and nutrition program and evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of implementing this program in a Volunteer in Medicine Clinic, discussing successes, challenges and lessons learned.
