ADAMTSL4 is one of the family of 7 ADAMTS-Like proteins, themselves part of the Thrombospondin type 1 repeat (TSR) superfamily of proteins. These 7 proteins are divided into two distinct clades, of which ADAMTSL4 and ADAMTS-Like 6 form part of one clade, differing from ADAMTS-Like 1, ADAMTS-Like 3 and ADAMTS-Like 7 by lacking immunoglobulin repeat regions. ADAMTSL4 is widely expressed in brain, colon, heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas and spleen, yet, its precise role is unclear. in addition, ADAMTSL4 protein high expression to the medial layer of the arterial wall, and medial vascular smooth muscle cells specifically.
The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) escalate remarkably worldwide and obesity becomes an epidemic disease. This study is interested in how the model of Developmental Origin of Health and Disease (DOHaD) influence individual's health status as they reach young adulthood. Since the mothers from HAPO study have not been subjected to antenatal treatment on the various degree of maternal hyperglycaemia in pregnancy, this would be an unique cohort that allows determination of the effect of various degree of maternal hyperglycaemia below the level of overt DM, on children's cardiometabolic risk in Chinese population.
With the development of China's economy, people's living standard have improved, and the dietary structure have changed. Metabolic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperuricemia and obesity have gradually become an important health burden in China. The pathophysiological mechanism of renal injury caused by metabolic diseases has always been a hotspot of research. Currently, it is believed that various mechanisms including the activation of Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, vascular endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress and inflammatory process may be involved. Although there are differences in renal pathological manifestations caused by different metabolic diseases, the kidney will eventually present ischemic changes and fibrosis with the progression of the disease. So there must be some common pathogenesis. This study is designed to build a disease cohort of patients with chronic kidney disease caused by metabolic diseases, to identify risk factors leading to disease progression and to explore biomarkers for early diagnosis and treatment of kidney damage.

How to construct a novel, non-invasive, accurate, and convenient method to achieve prediction of hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is an important general problem in the management of portal hypertension in cirrhosis. We plan to investigate the ability of three demensional-magnetic resonance elastography (3D-MRE) to establish a risk stratification system and perform tailored management for portal hypertension in cirrhosis.
This randomized-controlled pilot study will examine the implementation of a cardiovascular health intervention on postpartum mothers and infants. The investigators will adapt a cardiovascular health intervention into an evidence-based home visiting program, Family Check-Up to create Family Check-Up Heart. Through a Type 1 hybrid effectiveness implementation design, the pilot study will test the feasibility and effectiveness of Family Check-Up Heart (Family Check-Up Heart, n=100; Family Check-Up, n=50). The investigators hypothesize that Family Check-Up Heart will show comparable levels of engagement and acceptability as Family Check-Up alone, and mothers receiving Family Check-Up Heart will have greater improvements in cardiovascular health at 6 months postpartum compared to Family Check-Up alone.
The proposed project explores the acceptability and health benefits of ready-to-eat (RTE) meals based on the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) eating plan. The researchers have developed 14 recipes following the DASH eating plan, which is recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The prepackaged meals will be processed using Washington State University (WSU) microwave technologies to ensure food safety. In this pilot study, a sample of 30 participants will be recruited by to study the impact of the DASH meals on blood pressure. All meals will be provided to participants, who will consume the meals daily over a period of 4 weeks. Daily and weekly monitoring of participants (blood pressure and weight) will allow us to gain a scientific understanding on the preventive power of healthy diets in lowering blood pressure and reducing CVD risk.
This is a Phase 1, open-label, parallel-group study in subjects with varying degrees of renal function to assess the safety, tolerability, and Pharmacokinetics of a single 10 mg oral dose of CIN-107.
