Two prototypes of the same educational video game have been developed. Study participants will play with both prototypes, complete online questionnaires and be interviewed by a research assistant regarding their experience with both prototypes. Study results will serve to select the most promising prototype between the two, based on its potential to support the engagement, the motivation, and the development of nursing students' interpretation of acute heart failure patients' health condition. Study results will also serve to refine the selected prototype before conducting a larger-scale efficacy trial. As such and given the small sample number of participants that is expected, it is not planned to conduct hypothesis testing.
Sacubitril/valsartan is an angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor with the ability to reduce myocardial hypertrophy, cardiac remodeling and cardiorenal fibrosis. The compound is also believed to have antiarrhythmic properties as it has been shown to significantly reduce ventricular arrhythmias in patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Patients suffering from heart failure with reduced ejection fraction show impaired heart rate variability, knowing that in these patients such impairment is highly associated with an increased risk of sudden cardiac death. In its pivotal study, sacubitril/valsartan demonstrated a significant advantage over enalapril in terms of cardiovascular mortality and rehospitalization. Against this background, this study was designed to analyze the largely unknown electrophysiological effects of sacubitril/valsartan on the autonomic cardiac nervous system by determining heart rate variability.
A 6-month prospective, digital randomized controlled trial targeting approximately 49,000 individuals to evaluate the effectiveness of an influenza vaccination intervention during influenza season for people with cardiovascular conditions
The objective of the study is to assess the utility of ECG Belt to understand the conduction and ECG characteristics of Left Bundle Branch Pacing (LBBAP) and His-Optimized Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (HOT-CRT) and compare with preexisting data in traditional Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) and Right Ventricular Pacing (RVP).
Patients with heart failure and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF, EF ≥ 50%) or mid-range left ventricular ejection fraction (HFmrEF, 40% < EF < 50%) with mild to moderate functional limitation will be evaluated for treatment via creation of a no-implant interatrial shunt using clinical, echocardiographic, and invasive hemodynamic data.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate safety and performance of AquaPass System for enhancing fluid transfer through the skin, by increased sweat rate, in edematous patients.
The DAPA-HF trial demonstrated that dapagliflozin was able to reduce the risk of worsening heart failure events and cardiovascular death comparing to placebo in patients with reduced ejection fraction further to standard of care. However, hypotensive patients who generally have higher risks comparing to normotensive patients, were under represented in the DAPA-HF. The investigators aimed to evaluate clinical effects of dapagliflozin on hypotensive heart failure patients receiving chronic sacubitril/valsartan treatment.
Splanchnic vasoconstriction may contribute to decompensation of chronic heart failure (HF) via volume redistribution from the splanchnic vascular bed to the central compartment. This is a sympathetically mediated reflex and can be interrupted through a splanchnic nerve block (SNB). We hypothesize that interruption of the efferent/afferent innervation of the splanchnic vasculature will decrease cardiac congestion in patients presenting with HF. Based on preliminary safety and efficacy data in acute and chronic heart failure patients with temporary (<24 h) SNB. Now we will apply a prolonged SNB in chronic heart failure patients using a long acting agent. We will test the effects of SNB on long term exercise capacitance.
The purpose of this research project is to evaluate the impact of virtual reality therapy on mitigating heart failure pain in hospitalized patients with heart failure and compare this impact to that of 2-dimensional guided imagery distraction therapy.
This study will evaluate the effect of dapagliflozin versus placebo, given once daily in addition to Standard of Care (SoC) therapies for patients with myocardial infarction (MI), for hospitalisation for heart failure (HHF), cardiovascular (CV) death, and other cardiometabolic outcomes.
