Niche Trial: Navigated Inhibitory rTMS to Contralesional Hemisphere Trial

NICHE
Start date: April 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A pivotal, prospective, multi-center, randomized, controlled, double-blinded study combining active Nexstim NBS-guided 1Hz rTMS or sham-rTMS targeting the healthy hemisphere with standardized task oriented rehabilitation will be conducted in patients with post-stroke motor impairment. The therapy will be provided for 6 weeks and primary outcome assessed 6 months later.

NCT ID: NCT02089074 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Systematic Follow up of Drug Treatment by Pharmacists in Secondary Prevention After Transient Ischemic Attack

Start date: November 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Use of drugs is an important factor in secondary prophylaxis after transient ischemic attack (TIA), but studies show that adherence to the prescribed drugs is often poor. This randomised controlled trial aims to investigate whether a systematic follow up of drug treatment using medication reconciliation, medication reviews and patient counselling by clinical pharmacists, improves adherence and/or decreases cardiovascular events the first three months and the first year after TIA. Patient satisfaction will also be compared between the two groups.

NCT ID: NCT02088346 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Acute Stroke Advancing Program Using Telemedicine

ASAP-Tel
Start date: August 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety profile of telemedicine consultation system in making decision on IV thrombolysis.

NCT ID: NCT02088255 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Walking Training With Partial Body Weight Support on Static and Dynamic Surfaces in Stroke Survivers

Start date: March 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is evaluate the effects of walking training with partial body weight support on static (floor) and dynamic (treadmill) surfaces in individuals with hemiparesis due to stroke. For this purpose, two training protocols will be employed in three experimental groups: G1 will do the walking training with partial body weight support on static surfaces and G2 will do the walking training with partial body weight support on dynamic surfaces

NCT ID: NCT02088125 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Dynamic Ventilatory and Asymmetry of the Chest Wall During Breath Stacking and Volume-oriented Incentive Spirometer

Start date: September 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of IS and BS on dynamics ventilatory and asymmetry of the chest wall in patients after stroke .

NCT ID: NCT02085954 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Evaluation of a Training in the Walking With Exosquelette

LOKOMAT
Start date: October 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Stroke patients in the investigators rehabilitation unit follow gait trainings with robotic-assistive devices such as Lokomat. Patients able to walk alone are also assessed with 3D gait analysis. The objective of this study is to assess the effects of gait training in Lokomat on biomecanic gait parameters in stroke patients.

NCT ID: NCT02085642 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Investigation of the Use of Acupuncture for the Treatment of Spasticity in Chronic Stroke Participants

HHSCSTROKEAC
Start date: March 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate if acupuncture is more effective than sham treatment in reducing lower extremity spasticity, and improving gait speed in the chronic phase of stroke recovery.

NCT ID: NCT02085226 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Art as Creative Engagement for Stroke

ACES
Start date: July 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Title: A C E S Study: Can an arts based creative engagement intervention (CEI) following stroke improve psychosocial outcomes? A feasibility trial of a creative engagement intervention for inpatient rehabilitation. This is a feasibility randomised controlled trial of a novel intervention for stroke rehabilitation examining effects of participation in visual arts activities on psychosocial outcomes after stroke. The investigators hypothesise that participation in a visual arts based intervention (CEI) will improve stroke recovery variables, mood and self-esteem in stroke survivors receiving in-patient rehabilitation compared to viewing a portfolio of artwork. The results of the study will inform a sample size calculation for a full trial.

NCT ID: NCT02082912 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

NMDA Receptors in Motor Learning in Humans

Start date: June 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to focus on enhancing upper limb recovery in patients post-stroke by using robotic-assisted therapy in combination with a drug to improve learning new motor skills.

NCT ID: NCT02082015 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials
