Filter by:In this study, our primary aim is; investigate the effect of aerobic dance based exercise program on lower extremity functions (walking, stair stroke climbing, etc.) in obese individuals awaiting bariatric surgery.
This project will determine the preliminary efficacy of an innovative intergenerational intervention among Head Start preschoolers, aged 3-5 years, and their caregivers. A two-group cluster randomized controlled trial will be conducted. Six Head Start centers will be randomly assigned to the intervention (n=3) or control group (n=3), and an average of 6 caregiver-preschooler dyads will be recruited from each class (N=144 dyads from 16 classes). Grounded in an Actor-Partner Interdependence Model, the 16-week intervention has 3 components: 1) a caregiver component, including 1a) a Facebook-based program with weekly electronic retrievable flyers providing health information and behavioral change strategies and 4 weekly habit-formation tasks to improve parenting practices and home environment for preschoolers; and 1b) 3 face-to-face or virtual meetings (weeks 1, 8, & 16) to establish personal connections and communication networks among caregivers, discuss strategies, and share community resources to support preschoolers' behavioral changes at home; 2) a caregiver-preschooler learning component via Facebook messenger to send preschooler letters to each caregiver privately by the research team twice per week to 2a) share the preschooler's experiences of learning at school and his/her interests for a healthy diet and physical activity at home, and 2b) elicit caregivers' response to the letters; and 3) a Head Start center-based preschooler component to help preschoolers establish healthy habits via weekly healthy diet and physical activity participatory learning.
The human brain has a central role in regulating appetite and food intake. It integrates many metabolic, hedonic and trait-related signals that affect eating behaviour and determine when and how much we eat. The effects of non-nutritive sweeteners (NNS) that provide sweet taste with no calories on appetite, food intake thus weight status remain a subject of debate. In this study, the investigators aim to investigate whole brain response to the ingestion of beverages sweetened with caloric sugars (glucose, maltodextrin) or NNS (stevia) as well as neural substrates of attentional bias to food (pre-and post consumption) in healthy lean participants.
The current study examined the influence of an acute weight stigma exposure on cardiovascular reactivity among women with obesity and high blood pressure and women with obesity and normal blood pressure.
The study will be conducted as a parallel randomized controlled intervention trial, initiated by eight weeks rapid weight loss with one of two VLCDs, one week of reintroducing regular foods, and 12 weeks with one of two different ad libitum diets; in total 21 weeks. The study will be blinded for the statistician. Due to obvious different dietary intakes in the two diets, subjects cannot be blinded and neither the study personnel. As the study includes different dietary recommendations the registered clinical dietician advising the subjects cannot be blinded either. In total 110 overweight and obese volunteers will be included.
The aim of this trial is to evaluate the possible benefits on saciety and dyslipidemia in subjects with overweight/obesity (BMI ≥25 y <40 kg / m2) and dyslipemia after consumption of a modifed honey with soluble fiber and polyphenols. Some studies have shown the contribution of high-fiber foods in the reduction of the cardiovascular risk. Besides, polyphenols have reported with their potent antioxidant effect and their implication lowering the vardiovascular risk.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects and the acceptability of low GI diet versus a conventional healthy diet on the BMI and other cardiometabolic risk factors of obese Chinese adults in Hong Kong.
Overweight and obesity are increasing and more than 50% of all people over 18 years in Sweden are overweight or obese. Main causes are changes in lifestyle habits regarding diet and physical activity. Obesity increases the risk of various diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthrosis and cancer; it also affects the quality of life. Losing 5-10% of body weight can improve metabolic health and quality of life. However, weight loss is difficult to achieve and especially to maintain over a longer period of time. Treatment based on cognitive behavioral therapy improves long-term outcomes. A behavioral treatment program via the Internet has been developed that contains 12 treatment modules that the patient follows for 6 months. The patient has regular contact with a therapist who follows the patient's treatment process and provides support. The purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate the Internet-based treatment regarding weight reduction, change in eating habits, physical activity and quality of life. We also intend to investigate how feasible and user-friendly the treatment program is and the patients' experiences of the treatment effects.
The objective of this study is to conduct a randomized cross-over dietary intervention in adult women who are overweight or obese to compare how yogurt and a control food affect biomarkers of inflammation and intestinal health.
This study in healthy men and women looks at the injection site experience of the DV3396 pen to that of the PDS290 pens when both pens are used to deliver 0.25 mg semaglutide subcutaneously (s.c., under the skin). Participants will receive 2 single doses of semaglutide 0.25 mg on 1 day. The 2 injections will be given at least 30 minutes apart, one in each side of the stomach. Participants will be in the clinic research center for 1 day. A follow-up phone call will take place between 4 and 5 weeks after the injections were given.
