Filter by:1. Study name: The Effect of Nitrendipine/Atenolol Combination on Blood Pressure Variability. 2. Medicine: Nitrendipine/Atenolol; Nitrendipine; Atenolol. 3. Rationale: Blood pressure variability correlates with cardiovascular events and target-organ damage in hypertensive patients. Nitrendipine/Atenolol has obvious advantages in reducing blood pressure variability in hypertensive rats, but the effect of this combination on hypertensive patients is still unknown. 4. Objective: To evaluate the effect of nitrendipine/atenolol on blood pressure variability of patients with Grade 1 hypertension compared with nitrendipine or atenolol monotherapy. 5. Study design: This study is a cross-over, randomized, controlled clinical trial with two equally sized treatment groups: Nitrendipine/Atenolol (5mg/10mg); Nitrendipine (10mg) or atenolol (25mg). 6. Study population: Men and Women aged 30-65 years (n=32) meeting the inclusion/exclusion criteria. 7. Randomization and cross-over design: Eligible patients will be randomly divided into two groups. Half of patients will take nitrendipine/atenolol (5/10mg) once daily for 6 weeks first, and then evenly turn into nitrendipine (10mg) or atenolol (25mg) once daily for 6 weeks. Another half of patients will evenly take nitrendipine (10mg) or atenolol (25mg) first, and turn into nitrendipine/atenolol (5/10mg) next. 8. Follow up: 14 weeks. 9. Sample size: a total of 32 patients should be enrolled. 10. Timeline: After obtaining the approval of Ethics Committee of Ruijin Hospital in April 2021, recruitment will start. Patients enrollment and follow-up will be performed between June 2021 to June 2022.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 6-month aerobic walking program on memory, subjective cognitive complaints, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor for older hypertensive women. Participants will be randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. The intervention group will last for 24 weeks. The outcome measurements included memory, subjective cognitive complaints, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor.
1. Study name: Prospective Comparison of Angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) with Amlodipine on ventricular remodeling in hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. 2. Medicine: sacubitril/valsartan (ARNI, 200mg tablet) and the matching placebo; amlodipine (5mg tablet) and the matching placebo. 3. Rationale: according to the results of previous clinical studies, ARNI has obvious advantages in improving cardiac remodeling and reducing blood pressure. However, there is no evidence to demonstrate the efficacy of ARNI in reducing blood pressure and improving ventricular remodeling in hypertension patients with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) compared with calcium channel blockers. 4. Objective: to demonstrate the superior efficacy of ARNI on improvement of LVH and blood pressure control compared with amlodipine in hypertension patients with LVH. 5. Study design: This study This is a 24-week prospective, randomized, active-controlled, double-blind, multi-center study, with two equally sized treatment groups: sacubitril/valsartan (200mg tablet); amlodipine (5mg tablet). 6. Study population: men or women aged over 18 years; Untreated patients or patients with taking single antihypertensive drugs; Essential mild to moderate hypertension; Echocardiographic diagnosis of LVH. 7. Randomization and treatment: Eligible patients will be randomly divided into 2 groups, taking one pill of sacubitril/valsartan (200mg tablet) + one pill of matching placebo of amlodipine daily, or one pill of amlodipine (5 mg/tablet) + one pill of matching placebo of sacubitril/valsartan daily. 8. Follow up: after meeting the inclusion criteria, there will be 2-week placebo run-in. Then patients will be randomly assigned into ARNI group and amlodipine group. There will be 5 visiting points in the treatment period, which will be the 4th week, 8th week, 12th week, 18th week and 24th week. 9. Sample size: 120 patients in total. 10. Timeline: After obtaining the approval of Ethics Committee of Ruijin Hospital in April 2021, recruitment will start. Patients enrollment and follow-up will be performed between June 2021 to June 2022.
Phase IIIb, randomized, double-blind, prospective, multicenter study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the fixed-dose combination of losartan / chlorthalidone compared with losartan / hydrochlorothiazide in the treatment of patients with essential arterial hypertension.
This will be a single center, Phase I/IB, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, sequential SAD/MAD/FE study, with a patients arm. The study will be divided into three parts: Part A: SAD cohorts, with FE evaluation Part B: MAD cohorts with healthy volunteers Part C: MAD cohorts including naïve patients with mild to moderate hypertension and low cardiovascular risk The three parts will be completed sequentially or with partial overlapping.
This prospective observational trial includes women with high risk pregnancies complicated with hyperglycemia in pregnancy and excessive body weight. The participants are enrolled when pregnant and monitored throughout pregnancy and delivery until the offspring is 6 months old. This research addresses the question which risk factors for non-communicable disorders such as hypertension, obesity, type 2 diabetes for a woman and her offspring can be detected during pregnancy and in early childhood.
Gender-identity differences are becoming increasingly diagnosed in the US and treatment with gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) is associated with improved mental health outcomes. However, GAHT has been associated with cardiovascular risk in adult transgender patients, although mechanisms and treatments have not been explored. Understanding the cardiovascular effects and exploring the potential of a lipid sensitive statin as a potential treatment is important to optimizing safe treatment strategies for transgender men in mitigating this modifiable risk factor, and designing and implementing effective interventions.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of Sacha Inchi Oil supplementation among the 3Hs patients.
Inspiratory muscle training considered as safe and valid method to improve respiratory muscle strength and functional capacity among uncountable conditions which could improve post COVID-19 persistent symptoms including but not limited to respiratory muscle strength, diminishing dyspnea, enhance blood oxygenation, and patient's functional capacity and quality of life.
The objective of the study is to evaluate the safety of multi-organ denervation using the Integrated Radio Frequency (iRF) Denervation System. and to understand any potential improvement in hypertension and glycemic control.
