View clinical trials related to Heart Failure.
Filter by:The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of a telemedicine-based follow-up strategy compared with usual care in the management of patients with chronic heart failure (HF) at high risk of clinical events.
This is a single centre, prospective diagnostic accuracy study to assess the comparative sensitivity of dobutamine versus adenosine for detection of severe non-infarct epicardial coronary artery stenosis in subjects with reduced LV EF ( EFed referred for clinical coronary angiography for investigation of symptoms or to establish the cause heart failure. Study participants will be identified from hospital angiography referral waiting lists, or already known with CAD and from heart failure outpatient clinics at Glenfield General Hospital. Clinical and CMR data will be collated on-site (at Glenfield General Hospital) from medical records stored and stress cardiac MRI scans at Glenfield General Hospital. The analysis will occur over a 12-month period following study commencement.
To evaluate if Italian Cardiologists are treating Heart Failure (HF) patients according to International guidelines and if a structured educational program can improved their adherence.
Discrimination between cardiac and non-cardiac causes of dyspnea can be challenging, causing excessive delay before adequate therapy. In clinical practice lung ultrasound (LUS) is becoming an easy and reliable noninvasive tool for the evaluation of dyspnea and can shorten the time to diagnosis .However the reproductibility of this test was not extensively studied.
The primary objective of this study is to identify and evaluate the range of values provided by accelerometers during a variety of typical daily lifestyle activities for heart failure patients, and to relate these to the measured intensity of performing each activity in the heart failure population.
Autonomic nervous system dysfunction is known to be associated with an increased risk of heart rhythm abnormalities and sudden cardiac death (SCD) in patients with chronic heart failure - a condition affecting millions of people worldwide. The nitric oxide pathway has been identified as being involved in mediating the effects of the autonomic nervous system on the heart. Recent studies have shown that dietary nitrates can increase the availability of nitric oxide in the body. This study hopes to find out if dietary nitrate supplementation can help to improve cardiac and autonomic function in patients with heart failure and autonomic dysfunction and reduce the risk of arrhythmias.
Lack of recognition of HF danger signs and lack of understanding of how to control and minimize danger signs could lead to their escalation and prompt all-cause and HF-related health care resource utilization (HCRU). Investigators hypothesize that patients must understand HF danger signs to have self-confidence in recognizing them and in taking steps to minimize or eliminate their occurrence post hospital discharge. Investigators will determine if video education in HF danger signs recognition and control prior to discharge (and post-discharge) reduces all-cause and HF-related HCRU.
The aim of the current study is to develop and validate an algorithm based on seismocardiography recordings to detect heart failure. Echocardiography will be used as the golden standard for defining patients with heart failure.
Portal flow pulsatility detected by Doppler ultrasound is an echographic marker of cardiogenic portal hypertension from right ventricular failure and is associated with adverse outcomes based on previous studies performed at the Montreal Heart Institute. This multicenter prospective cohort study aims to determine if portal flow pulsatility after cardiopulmonary bypass separation is associated with a longer requirement of life support after cardiac surgery.
The Human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) is a non-classical, major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) protein that modulates the immune response, inhibiting it in most cases. Physiologically expressed in the cells of some tissues, it increases in inflammatory reactions. Inflammation appears to play an important role in the development of chronic heart failure. This study aims to evaluate the levels of soluble HLA-G in patients with heart failure and to investigate the relationships between HLA-G and other clinical-functional parameters of the disease. Investigators hypothesize that the plasma levels of HLA-G could correlate with the clinical status of heart failure and could provide indications on patient's prognosis.
