PODER Familiar: Health Promotion for Latino Families of Children With IDD

PODER
Start date: January 17, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to test a culturally tailored health promotion intervention for children with IDD and their families. First investigators will conduct a single group design pilot study of a health promotion intervention, followed by second, a small-scale randomized control trial (RCT). of the intervention with Latino parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the Chicago, Illinois and Austin, Texas areas. The following research questions will be addressed: Question 1: What is the appropriate content, dosage, and delivery method of the intervention? Question 2: What is the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention? Question 3: Do participants improve between pre and post-test on outcome measures both in the one group design and compared to the control group in the RCT? Parents will receive 10 weekly remote sessions on health promotion content delivered by parent mentors called promotoras. Parents and children will attend 3 multi-family group workshops in-person that will provide demonstrations and interactive activities.

NCT ID: NCT05712317 Recruiting - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

The Effectiveness of an Exergame-based Intervention

Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This randomized control trial aims to compare the effects of a regular exergame-based intervention and a regular moderate-intensity endurance exercise in healthy individuals. The main questions it aims to answer are: • Is regular exergame-based training an effective intervention to improve different health and performance parameters in healthy adults? Can the exergaming intervention improve health and performance parameters similar to a moderate-intensity endurance exercise intervention? Throughout the intervention period (8 weeks), participants will participate in regular training sessions (3x/week) in an exergame called the ExerCube. Researchers will compare the effects to a control group who participates in regular (3x/week) moderate-intensity endurance exercise to see if the exergaming intervention induces similar effects on health and performance parameters.

NCT ID: NCT05704712 Recruiting - Physical Inactivity Clinical Trials

Exercise Incentives for YMCA Based Exercise

Start date: March 16, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators will conduct a randomized controlled trial to test financial incentive programs (versus control) to promote physical activity among 330 adults who have a YMCA membership. Participants will have the opportunity to earn up to $100 or $200 (depending on the condition they are assigned to) for attending at least 50 sessions at the YMCA over 6 months. Participants will have two 6-month windows during which they will have the opportunity to earn the incentive. In addition to the incentives, participants will complete research assessments every 3 months.

NCT ID: NCT05698693 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Social Determinants of Sleep and Obesity

Start date: November 1, 2023
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

African American adults sleep less and obtain worse quality sleep compared to the national average, and emerging evidence links inadequate sleep with greater morbidity and mortality from chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cancer. To address this public health concern, the proposed research seeks to use a multi-method approach to adapt a sleep intervention for African American adults with overweight/obesity not meeting national sleep duration or physical activity recommendations. The overall goal of the project is to reduce cancer and obesity-related health disparities among African Americans.

NCT ID: NCT05669378 Recruiting - Physical Inactivity Clinical Trials

A Good Start Matters Intervention Study

Start date: January 20, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The BC government and partners developed Active Play Standards and a capacity-building strategy to help childcare centers implement the Standards. We have developed an intervention to supplement the governmental capacity-building strategies. The intervention is comprised of implementation support strategies targeted at childcare providers in BC that will aid with the sustainment of Active Play best practices at their facilities. The impact of the intervention will be assessed by measuring its impact on a) change in practices with respect to Active Play; and b) improving child-level outcomes (children's physical activity, sedentary behavior, and motor skill competencies). The findings will inform future policies and enhance our understanding of how policy action supported by communication, capacity-building, and sustainment strategies influence the environment of childcare centres.

NCT ID: NCT05620888 Recruiting - Physical Inactivity Clinical Trials

Efficacy of a Tailored Communication Intervention Aimed at Increasing the Number of Daily Steps

Start date: October 3, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a physical activity promotion intervention focused on walking behavior. The intervention is delivered via mobile application in a sample drawn from the healthy adult population.

NCT ID: NCT05619406 Recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Systematic Investigation of Blacks With Stroke - GENOMICS

SIBSGENOMICS
Start date: August 20, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The overall goal of SIBS-GENOMICS is to utilize the best available contextual data on stroke in Africa to develop & validate stroke risk estimation models, translate the best model into a mobile phone app and conduct a randomized control trial of the app with a co-created motivational education video, to determine their effectiveness for improvement of stroke risk factor awareness and global risk reduction among Africans.

NCT ID: NCT05619250 Recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Supervised Center-based vs. Unsupervised Home-based Exercise Programs (PRO-Training)

PRO-Training
Start date: September 7, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The superiority of supervised center-based training programs compared with unsupervised home-based ones in older adults remains unclear, and no evidence exists on whether including a motivational component could moderate these differences. The present randomized controlled trial aims to determine the role of supervision and motivational strategies on the safety, adherence, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of different training programs for improving physical and mental health in older adults. Participants (n=120, aged 60-75 years old) will be randomly divided into five groups: 1- Control group, 2- Unsupervised home-based exercise group without motivational intervention (UNSUP), 3- Unsupervised home-based exercise group with motivational intervention (UNSUP+), 4- Supervised center-based exercise group without motivational intervention (SUP) and 5- Supervised center-based exercise group with motivational intervention (SUP+). Participants assigned to the exercise groups will participate in a 24-week multicomponent exercise program (3 sessions/week, 60 min/session), while participants in the control group will be asked to maintain their usual lifestyle. Physical and mental health outcomes will be assessed, including lower and upper-body muscular function, physical function, cardiorespiratory function, anthropometry and body composition, health-related quality of life, cognitive performance, anxiety and depression status, physical activity and sedentary behavior, sleep, biochemical markers, motivators and barriers to exercise, individual's psychological needs, and level of self-determination. Assessments will be conducted at baseline (week 0), mid-intervention (week 12), at the end of the intervention period (week 25), and 24 weeks after the exercise intervention (week 48).

NCT ID: NCT05599646 Recruiting - Fatigue Clinical Trials

Pedometer-Based Walking Intervention on Physical Activity Among Hemodialysis Patients

Start date: October 31, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients undergoing HD are mostly physically inactive and have reduced functional capacities compared to healthy individuals which contributes to a decreased quality of life and consequently increases the risk of mortality
