NCT ID: NCT05937269 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Cancer

Assessing Impact of Early Physiotherapy on Lymphatic Dysfunction in Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship

Start date: October 12, 2023
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if treating the lymphatics in head and neck cancer survivors before clinical diagnosis of lymphedema will prevent its development or progression. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does early lymphatic treatment, before onset of clinical symptoms, prevent the development of head and neck lymphedema? - Does dermal lymphatic backflow provide an early indication of lymphedema and its response to treatment? Over the course of one year, participants will undergo several sessions near-infrared fluorescence lymphatic imaging to assess whether they have abnormal dermal lymphatic backflow following head and neck cancer treatment. Subjects will be divided into two groups, a treated and a control group. The treated group will be asked to complete daily sessions of pneumatic compression therapy at home, while the control group will receive standard-of-card treatment after clinical diagnosis of lymphedema. Researchers will compare the incidence of lymphedema between the two groups to see if treatment before diagnosis prevents the development and progression of head and neck lymphedema.

NCT ID: NCT05932017 Enrolling by invitation - Surgery Clinical Trials

Comparison of Gingival Flap Procedure Using Conventional Surgical Loupes vs. Videoscope for Visualization

Start date: July 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is being performed to compare different methods of visualization during routine gum surgery. The gum surgery is standard of care. This study will compare the use of a small camera (videoscope) in conjunction with magnification glasses during surgery vs. surgery only using magnification glasses. Both methods are routinely used and are standard of care methods of visualization. The small camera (videoscope) is a device which allows us to see the area under high magnification and projects live video feed on a computer screen. The study is a split-mouth design pilot study. The patients are only receiving treatment that was previously diagnosed prior to entering the study. The treatment performed is standard treatment that fits in the routine standard of care. No interventional treatment is being performed. The only difference is the method of visualization/observation by the practitioner used during the surgical procedure. One side of the mouth will be treated with just loupes while the other side of the mouth will be treated with loupes and the videoscope.

NCT ID: NCT05931627 Enrolling by invitation - ACL Injury Clinical Trials

Tourniquet Use in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Repair

Start date: March 8, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the intra-operative and post-operative effects of tourniquet use during ACL reconstruction. We hypothesize that: 1. Limited tourniquet use will not significantly impact arthroscopic visualization nor the time it takes to complete an ACL reconstruction. 2. Limited tourniquet use will lead to significantly less patient pain intra-operatively and in the immediate peri-operative period. 3. Patients who undergo an ACL reconstruction with limited tourniquet use will have earlier return of quadriceps functions as compared to those undergoing reconstruction with the use of a tourniquet.

NCT ID: NCT05929833 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

BETTER (Brain Injury Education, Training, and Therapy to Enhance Recovery)

Start date: January 26, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Despite racial/ethnic disparities in outcomes for younger adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI), there are no U.S. standards for TBI transitional care for patients discharged home from acute hospital care. To enhance the standard of care, the investigators will examine the efficacy of the existing intervention named BETTER (Brain Injury, Education, Training, and Therapy to Enhance Recovery), a culturally-tailored, patient- and family-centered TBI transitional care intervention, compared to usual care, among younger adults with TBI and families. The knowledge generated will drive improvements in health equity for younger adults with TBI of various races/ethnicities and families, resulting in improved health of the public.

NCT ID: NCT05929807 Enrolling by invitation - Achondroplasia Clinical Trials

A Clinical Trial to Investigate Long-term Safety, Tolerability, and Efficacy of Weekly Subcutaneous Doses With TransCon CNP in Children and Adolescents With Achondroplasia

AttaCH
Start date: June 21, 2023
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

TransCon CNP administered once-weekly in children and adolescents with achondroplasia who have completed a prior TransCon CNP clinical trial. Participants who complete a prior TransCon CNP trial and meet all eligibility criteria will be invited to continue into the long-term open label extension trial to receive 100 µg CNP/kg/week of TransCon CNP. Trial treatment will be completed when the participant reaches 16 years of age for females and 18 years of age for males and have femur and tibial epiphyseal closure. TransCon CNP treatment will continue if femur and tibial epiphyseal closure is not confirmed at the age of 16 years for females, and 18 years for males. Treatment with TransCon CNP will be completed once femur and tibial epiphyseal closure is confirmed by radiographic imaging. The trial duration is individual for each trial participant. Visits will occur every 12-14 weeks throughout the trial.

NCT ID: NCT05929300 Enrolling by invitation - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

A Yoga Program for Patients Undergoing Prostate Cancer Surgery

Start date: October 18, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Men with localized prostate cancer (PCa) are often treated with surgery, a treatment that is associated with high rates of side effects such as erectile dysfunction (ED) and urinary incontinence (UI) which impact quality of life. Yoga may improve control of UI and improve ED by bringing awareness to and strengthening the pelvic floor musculature. The randomized controlled pilot study is to assess the feasibility of an innovative hybrid (in-person and virtual) twice-weekly yoga program that includes a prehabilitation component and to obtain preliminary data that will help assess its potential effectiveness in alleviating PCa treatment symptom burden (primarily ED and UI). The long-term goal is to develop a scalable and sustainable yoga program that helps cancer survivors manage their treatment side effects.

NCT ID: NCT05928689 Enrolling by invitation - Misophonia Clinical Trials

Behavioral and Pharmacological Reconsolidation Interference in Misophonia

Miso Prop
Start date: June 2, 2023
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

One of the core processes presumably underlying misophonia - a condition characterized by decreased tolerance for specific sounds - is associative learning. Using behavioral, computational, and neural analyses of emotional learning and memory processes to understand the unknown behavioral and neural mechanisms underlying misophonia's associative learning and memory, the study team will evaluate whether interference with the reconsolidation of a reactivated misophonia memory with propranolol can alleviate aversive reaction to misophonia-related cues.

NCT ID: NCT05926544 Enrolling by invitation - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Counseling Intervention for Pharmacists

Start date: October 4, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to test if virtual facilitation (e.g., video coaching) increases rural pharmacists' ability to implement COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy counseling when compared to a "standard" implementation approach (e.g., training and dissemination of implementation support tools) in rural pharmacies. The main question it aims to answer is if virtual facilitation improves fidelity to a newly developed vaccine hesitancy counseling intervention when compared to standard implementation. All participants will begin in the standard implementation condition, where they will complete a webinar on COVID-19 vaccinations and a 30-minute online training on vaccine hesitancy communication. After standard implementation, they will switch to the virtual facilitation condition where they will be assigned a virtual coach to help them with implementing the intervention. There will be four fidelity observations per each 8-week intervention period to determine whether pharmacists are implementing the intervention as intended. Researchers will compare fidelity between the standard and virtual facilitation conditions.
