Filter by:This study aims to evaluate the effect of VR educational program on improving attitude and empathy toward dementia among caregivers. We plan to recruit around 600 participants and randomly assign them to either a control group or an experimental group. The experimental group will participate in a dementia educational program combining VR lasting approximately 2-3 hours. Data would be collected from related questionnaires to investigate whether combining VR with dementia education can effectively improve participants' empathy and attitude toward dementia.
This project aims to adapt, implement, and evaluate a Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills training group intervention for aging adult family caregivers of person with Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) to reduce suicidality. By adapting this modality, the investigators will provide a scalable intervention tailored for this high-risk population, maximizing the public health impact and improving suicide prevention.
This clinical trial is being conducted to see if brain stimulation and brain training together improves cognitive functioning and mood in older adults diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Brain stimulation will be done using repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS). Brain training will be done using immersive virtual reality cognitive training (iVCT) program. The goals of this clinical trail are as follows: - Examine if rTMS+iVCT intervention can improve and sustain objective cognitive functioning in individuals with MCI more than control or rTMS only groups - Examine if rTMS+iVCT intervention improves participants mental health symptoms, functional abilities, and quality of life more than control or rTMS only groups - Examine the impact of rTMS+iVCT intervention on caregiver burden. Eligible participants will be assigned to a standard treatment (no intervention control) group, rTMS only group of rTMS+iVCT group. All participants will undergo baseline assessment to evaluate their cognitive, emotional, and functional abilities. Those in the rTMS only group will receive rTMS treatments for five days per week for two weeks (total of ten sessions). Those in the rTMS+iVCT group will receive rTMS treatment followed by iVCT training for five days a week for two weeks (total of ten sessions). All participants will then repeat testing 2 weeks and three months after baseline testing to assess for possible treatment related changes and lasting effects.
The goal of this intervention study is to test whether the educational intervention work well or not on informal caregiver of person with dementia. The main question it aims to answer is does the educational intervention will help to reduce the caregiver burden experience by the informal caregiver. Participants will be given an educational module and short videos that they can refer to gain more knowledge and skills in caring for the person with dementia.
Psychological distress including depression and anxiety is a major component of caregiver stress, and its negative impact on caregivers' health and well-being has been established in the literature. A recent meta-analysis reported the prevalence of depression and anxiety in stroke caregivers as 40.2% and 21.4% respectively. An evidence profile report by the World Health Organization(WHO) has emphasised that psychological support is crucial in helping caregivers in the community to continue caring for individuals with long-term disabilities, such as stroke patients. Therefore, early psychological intervention (EPI) is crucial to improve the management and prognosis of an individual who are facing stressful events like caregiving. The main aim of this study is to prevent or alleviate the significant psychological consequences in carers resulting from stroke events in family members. Internet-delivered cognitive-behavioural therapy (iCBT) is delivered as an ecological momentary intervention (EMI) to support the clients to engage in cognitive reframing and empower them with proper knowledge, skills and attitudes to make behavioural changes.
Lung cancer is a malignant tumour that has transformed from a single cancer disease into one of the most striking global health problems. Lung cancer has an insidious onset, and most patients are first diagnosed with the middle and advanced stages. Cancer-related fatigue is the most common and distressing symptom reported by lung cancer patients. For cancer patients, fatigue has a lasting impact on physical, psychological and social functions, and interferes with activities and participating in life events, thereby worsening the health-related quality of life. Family members have a key role in providing advanced lung cancer patients with informational, instrumental, and emotional support, which is crucial to patients' adaptation to the advanced illness and living a meaningful cancer life. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is the third-wave cognitive behavioural therapy to improve functioning and health-related quality of life by increasing psychological flexibility. The study aims to examine test the feasibility and acceptability, and preliminary effects of online ACT on fatigue interference in patients with advanced lung cancer and caregiver burden.
The goal of this preference-based pilot study will be to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and impact of a 12-week exercise intervention on oncology care provider burnout, compassion fatigue, and well-being. Participants will be divided into one of three exercise groups. Group assignment will be based on participant preference. Group 1: Supervised circuit-based resistance exercise (2 days/week) Group 2: Supervised circuit-based resistance exercise (2 days/week) + moderate-to-high intensity home-based walking/light jogging program (3 days/week) Group 3: Self-paced home-based walking program (3 days/week)

The death of a spouse is considered one of the most stressful and impactful life events and is associated with increased morbidity and premature mortality. Early identification of individuals who are most at risk for poor health outcomes following bereavement is an important aim of precision medicine and disease prevention initiatives. A better understanding of caregiver burden and bereavement-related distress and its implication for health is a clinically-relevant step toward the development of treatments that improve health outcomes in bereaved spouses. This study aims to map profiles of individual differences in short- and long-term adjustment to loss, according to psychological (e.g., depression, stress, grief severity) and biological markers (e.g., inflammation, cortisol) over time.
