Filter by:The general objective of the study is to determine the effectiveness on local mechanical hypoalgesia, pain intensity, disability and psychological variables of the deep dry needling technique on a latent trigger point of the upper trapezius muscle. The specific objective of the study is to observe the interaction between patient expectations and hypoalgesic effects in patients who will receive the same technique but with different explanations about it before punction and which could influence on the modulation of post-punction pain.
MR-107A-01 is being studied to investigate its efficacy, safety, and dose-response after dental surgery.
This is a randomized clinical trial studying the effectiveness of music therapy (i.e. MAR - Music-Assisted Relaxation) on pain intensity in burn patients hospitalized at the Adults Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá in Colombia. Secondary outcome measures include anxiety and depression levels, vital signs, medication intake, quality of hospitalization and EEG, EMG, and ECG measurements. This is the first study in Colombia investigating the effectiveness of music therapy with this population.
Objectif Principal - To evaluate the intensity and frequency of pain episodes in patients with cystic fibrosis followed at the cystic fibrosis center of Rouen University Hospital, Normandy, France. Objectifs secondaires - To assess the relationship between pain and disease severity. - To assess the relationship between pain and the age of the patient. - To describe the pain locations. - To describe the use of pharmacological or nonpharmacological treatment. - To evaluate the procedural pain.
This project is focused on Veteran patients 65 and older with chronic pain. In this project, the investigators will understand the impact of a contextual patient generated data (PGD). Contextual PGD are data about what is important to patients, information about the Veterans social and home contexts (for example, how the Veterans medications are stored and how much help they receive from others). In this study the investigators will talk with Veterans with chronic pain and the Veterans informal caregivers (family members or friends who help them) and find out about how they are coping with chronic pain and what information might be helpful to provide to the Veterans healthcare team. Then, the investigators will talk to clinicians about information that might be helpful to them. The investigators will collect contextual PGD and use it to develop a computer application for collecting contextual PGD and displaying it to patients and doctors in a visit. The investigators will also test the impact of having contextual PGD in a visit on patient satisfaction with the Veterans care plan and how well they are able to follow the care plan.
This single-center, clinical trial is being conducted to determine whether non-narcotic pain regiments are as effective as narcotic-based regiments in reducing post-operative pain in patients undergoing breast reduction in the outpatient setting.
To determine the feasibility and acceptability of using immersive virtual reality technologies to impact clinical outcomes (e.g., pain and anxiety) and medication utilization (e.g., narcotics) in pediatric patients with acute and chronic pain.
Pain intensity is commonly measured in research and clinical settings.1 Different pain intensity domains can be assessed, depending on the specific goals of the researcher or clinician. These include current pain, and recalled average pain, least pain and worst pain in the past 24 hours or 7 days. Although average pain (in the past 24 hours or 7 days) is arguably the most common pain intensity domain assessed by researchers and clinicians, some researches indicate that in chronic pain samples, worst pain is more strongly associated with disability than average pain.2 Thus, while current pain is likely the most appropriate pain intensity domain in acute pain contexts (e.g., during medical procedures), both average and worst pain are important domains to consider assessing the chronic pain context. As such, research to understand the most reliable and valid measures for assessing these domains in different pain populations is critical for both researchers and clinicians.
The ALGOBASES project is an observational epidemiological study of pain through the collection of pain evaluation questionnaires and information with the aim of creating a descriptive "pain" evaluation in all patients who need to benefit from orthopedic, thoracic or gynecological surgery. The painful symptomatology will thus be evaluated in all its dimensions (demographic data, physical, psychological, socio-cultural components) and linked to the pathology justifying the specialized care. It is planned to collect the same data at each subsequent event in order to allow the determination of predictive factors, pain trajectories according to the type of surgery, and the profile of subjects at risk of acute or chronic postoperative pain.
