Filter by:A Comparison Between Lidocaine-Prilocaine Cream (EMLA) Application And wound Infiltration with Lidocaine For Post Caesarean Section Pain Relief : A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Recently, more distal approach to femoral nerve branches (saphenous) in the adductor canal in the medial compartment of the thigh have shown to provide comparable anesthesia and analgesia without quadriceps muscle weakness than traditional femoral nerve blocks (FNB) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Adductor canal block (ACB) has the unique advantage of providing localized analgesia to the peripatellar and intra-articular aspects of the knee joint without reducing the patient's ability to perform a straight leg raise. However, it does not adequately address the incisional pain component on the anterior surface of the knee innervated by anterior femoral cutaneous nerve. This pain may be improved by addition of the anterior femoral block (AFB). Additionally, the ACB does not provide analgesia to the posterior aspect of the knee, which is commonly moderate to severe after surgery. This pain may be decreased by addition of the genicular block, also known as the iPACK block (interspace between the popliteal artery and the capsule of the knee). There is no study that has evaluated the potentially analgesic benefits of the AFB or the iPACK block combined with ACB after TKA. Therefore, the investigators designed this randomized, prospective, and double-blinded study to assess our hypothesis that the addition of the AFB and/or iPACK block to the ACB will improve analgesic effects, decrease pain scores, deceased opioid requirement, and as well as facilitate early recovery and improve patient satisfaction with pain management in patient after TKA.
The purpose of this study is to improve IV-Patient Controlled Analgesia (IV-PCA) technique for postoperative analgesia. Investigators are comparing between patient re-education and the background morphine infusion among patients who fail to achieve satisfactory analgesia using IV-PCA Morphine after laparotomy.
An angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2R) antagonist has been assessed for its efficacy in neuropathic pain with promising results. A considerable number of patients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia are hypertensive and receive drugs to control high blood pressure, including angiotensin II receptor antagonists. These drugs may attenuate the acute and/or chronic postoperative pain or decrease the analgesic requirements after surgery. The aim of the present study is to assess the early postoperative pain and analgesic requirements in patients treated with antagonists of the angiotensin II receptors for at least three months before surgery compared to normotensive patients.
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of subtenon block (SB)anesthesia with dexmedetomidine in combination with bupivacaine versus intravenous dexmedetomidine for postoperative analgesia and emesis control in infants undergoing cataract surgery.
The study will conduct to compare the efficacy of Magnesium sulphate & dexmedetomidine used as adjuvants to bupivacaine in caudal block to provide intra-operative anesthesia as well as post -operative analgesia in pediatric patients.
Patient will have usual appendectomy surgery with an injection of local or saline at incision site either before or after the incision at random. The clinical hypothesis of this trial is that pediatric patients who undergo a local anesthetic pre-incisional and/or post-incisional will reduce the amount of postoperative pain and therefore reduce the amount of analgesics required to keep the patient satisfied. Primary: To determine if local anesthetic reduces postoperative pain. Secondary: To assess the timing of local anesthetic injection affects postoperative pain.
