Evaluation of Low-level Laser at Auriculotherapy Points to Reduce Postoperative Pain in Inferior Third Molar Surgery

The association between low level laser and auricular acupuncture can be an alternative when conventional drugs are contraindicated or to reduce the quantity of these postoperative medications. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of low level laser at auriculotherapy points in reducing postoperative pain in lower third molar surgery. Eighty third molars surgeries will be performed in 40 healthy patients by a split-mouth design. Immediately after surgery, each side of the patient's mouth will be randomly treated with different regimens in a double-blind design: low level laser in auricular acupuncture points or simulation of its use. This treatment will be performed at 24 and 48 hours after surgery. The primary variable is the post-operative pain. The secondary variables are trismus, edema and local temperature. They will be assessed at baseline, 24 hours, 48 hours and seven days after surgery.The blood samples for analysis of systemic inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, interleukin 1, interleukin 6 and interleukin 8) will be assessed at baseline and 24 hours after surgery.

Evaluation of Post-endodontic Pain After Root Canal Treatment With Two Rotary Systems : Mtwo & Safe-sider

Post-endodontic pain (PP) still is major problem for endodontic patients, analgesics are routinely prescribed. Incidence of PP is reported extensively, and reviewed. PP is a complicated multi factorial process and is affected by factors related to patients, to the tooth and to the skills and experience of the dentist and because of that, if the interrelation of these factors is not considered in a PP, study data might be confusing. Any study trying to evaluate the effect of a specific technique or new device in the incidence or characteristics of PP should control all the confounding factors that have been described to be involved in the tested outcome. reports mention a variable prevalence of PP, ranging from 82.9 to 10.6%. These variations are because of the differences in study methods, and treatment procedures after root canal treatment, selection of patients or experience and skills of the dentists, vary when different studies are compared. Many studies had confirmed that chemomechanical debridement of the root canal results in extrusion of dentinal chips, pulp tissue fragments, necrotic tissues, microorganisms, and root canal irrigants through the apical foramen. All preparation techniques and instruments, regardless of maintaining shorter working length of the apical terminus have reported to be related with extrusion of infected debris, and some of them extruded less material and others extruded more. Periapical inflammation and postoperative flare-ups may result from apical extrusion of debris that is also referred to as the "worm" of necrotic debris A common outcome of the studies examining the amount of apically extruded debris was that the techniques involving a push-pull filing motion usually produce a greater mass of apical debris than those have rotational action Files which has reciprocating and in-and-out filing motion, may act as a piston, extruding more debris and irrigants. Ibuprofen Compared to Morphine as a Pediatric Postoperative Pain Management Tool Following Inguinal Surgery

Morphine is now the most commonly used opioid in children for pain management even though the safety of morphine use in children is a primary concern for parents as it is perceived to have more associated risks. Ibuprofen and other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) have also been shown to be effective for the management of postoperative pain with fewer associated adverse effects. However, there have been concerns that utilization of ibuprofen alone may lead to inadequate pain management. Evidence of whether ibuprofen is equally effective as morphine for postoperative pain control in pediatric inguinal surgery is lacking and needs to be further explored as a measure to potentially reduce opioid exposure in children. To determine which drug is more effective for relieving post-operative pain, this trial will compare the effectiveness of ibuprofen and morphine at reducing post-operative pain, and the amount of analgesic use required post-surgery.

Low Doses of Ketamine and Postoperative Quality of Recovery

There are evidences that intraoperative administration of low doses of ketamine may contribute to control the postoperative pain by acting on the NMDA channel, reducing the effects related to the tolerance and hyperalgesia induced by opioids. This study aims to evaluate the effects of administration of this agent not only as an analgesic but also its role in the quality of recovery from anesthesia, which includes observation of emotional, psychological and physical aspects. Patients who were scheduled to undergo total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) for laparoscopic cholecystectomy will be enrolled in this clinical study. After induction of anesthesia, patients will receive one of three solutions according to the randomly selected group: ketamine 0,2 mg/kg; ketamine 0,4 mg/kg or saline. In the recovery room and on the ward, data related to the presence of pain, analgesic consumption, the incidence of nausea and vomiting, dizziness or hallucinations will be recorded. The next day, the quality of recovery will be evaluated by apllication of the questionnaire QoR40.

Effect of Vitamin C on Postoperative Pain After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of Vitamine C supplements to be helpful to reduce the postoperative pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy through the double-blinded randomized controlled trial.
