Filter by:In current practice, packing in the vagina overnight after vaginal surgery is typically used to prevent post-surgical vaginal bleeding. The vaginal packing is usually coated with either estrogen cream or bupivacaine at the investigators' hospital . There are reports in the literature that show nasal packing soaked with local anesthetic after nasal sinus surgery reduces post-surgical pain. To date, no studies have evaluated local anesthetic soaked vaginal packing after vaginal surgery and if this is associated with a reduction in post-surgical pain scores. The investigators seek to investigate if vaginal packing soaked with a local anesthetic reduces post-operative pain while providing the necessary action of minimizing potential post-surgical bleeding.
Auricular neurostimulation is a potential novel and non-invasive method of pain control following liver transplantation in a growing patient population with the probability of significant impact on economics and morbidity. The investigators propose a pilot study to investigate the effects of auricular neurostimulation in patients receiving a liver transplantation. The investigator will investigate the effects of auricular neurostimulation with this novel device and compare it to the current standard of care for pain management following liver transplantation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of intravenous acetaminophen (Tylenol) for post operative pain control in patients undergoing craniotomies (brain surgery) and spine surgery. Studies have shown that intravenous acetaminophen is useful for post operative pain control in some operations but there have not been studies to evaluate the use of acetaminophen in craniotomies or spine surgery.

To comparison of efficacy of Bupivacaine for relief postoperative pain in women undergoing laparoscopic gynecologic surgery
This study will evaluate the safety and tolerability based on the incidence of adverse experiences of buprenorphine sublingual spray (0.5 milligrams [mg] three times daily [TID]) compared with standard post-operative narcotic therapy in participants with postoperative pain. Standard post-operative narcotic therapy is defined as morphine intravenous (IV) injection (4 mg TID) followed by oxycodone hydrochloride tablet (10 mg TID).
This study compares post-operative incisional pain on post-operative days 1 and 7 who will undergo gynecologic laparoscopic operations. Half of participants will undergo conventional fascial closure, while the other will undergo fascial closure by Berci Fascial Closure (Karl Storz, Belgium).
With ongoing advancements in healthcare leading to prolonged life expectancy, orthopedic surgeries are increasingly performed in elderly patients. Total knee arthroplasty, in particular, has been increasing with the growing demand for improved mobility and quality of life. Total knee arthroplasty is performed on patients with advanced and painful osteoarthritis of the knees, but it can result in moderate to severe postoperative pain during the recovery period. To relieve anxiety or stress during surgery under regional anesthesia, sedation can be provided. Dexmedetomidine is a sedative-analgesic agent acting as α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, and its analgesic effect has been well established in various procedures or surgeries. Magnesium has been reported to produce important analgesic effects including the suppression of neuropathic pain, potentiation of morphine analgesia, and attenuation of morphine tolerance. Although the exact mechanism is not yet fully understood, the analgesic properties of magnesium are believed to stem from regulation of calcium influx into the cell and antagonism of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors in the central nervous system. In this study, investigators will evaluate the reducing effect of magnesium on the post-total knee arthroplasty pain in patients sedated with dexmedetomidine under spinal anesthesia.
The trial will estimate post-operative pain management in elective surgical patients using the PMD-200 device. The device measures physiological parameters by placing a non-invasive sensor on a fingertip and displays an objective pain level in a 0-100 scale. The pain level will be estimated before surgery (baseline), after surgery and during administration of parenteral analgesia. Treatment and analgesia will be given according to clinical considerations and standard ward protocols. The device measurements won't influence the treatment.
75 female patients were randomly allocated into one of three equal groups. Group I(GI) received Dulox 60 mg orally and 100 ml 0.9% sodium chloride solution (NS) intravenous infusion (IVI) over 15 min, group II(GII): received combined Dulox capsule 60 mg orally and Dex 0.1mg/kg mixed with 100 ml NS IVI and group III(GIII) received identical placebo duloxetine capsule and 100 ml NS IVI as a placebo for Dex, 2 hours preoperatively. Patients` vitals, VAS and sedation score were assessed at 30 minutes, 1h, 2 h, 6h and 12h postoperatively. Total pethidine requirements, plasma cortisol, PONV and patient`s satisfaction were recorded.
