Filter by:Primary : To determine the effect of Rimonabant 20 mg on changes in, HDL-Cholesterol (HDL-C), triglyceride levels over a period of 12 months when prescribed with a mild hypocaloric diet in abdominally obese patients with dyslipidemia with or without other associated comorbidities. Main Secondary : To determine the effect of 12 months Rimonabant treatment versus placebo on changes in waist circumference (WC), body weight, glycemic and lipid parameters. To assess the safety of 12 months Rimonabant treatment versus placebo in these patients. In selected sites, a sub study will be conducted to determine the effect of 12 months of Rimonabant on additional lipoprotein and inflammatory parameters.
The objective of the study is to evaluate the effect of Rimonabant 20mg in comparison to placebo, on HDL and VLDL lipoprotein kinetics, over a 12 months period. Primary objectives: - To assess effect of Rimonabant on HDL ApoA-I fractional catabolic rate (FCR). Secondary objectives: - To assess effect of Rimonabant on HDL ApoA-I production rate (PR) and on other lipoprotein kinetics. - To assess effect of Rimonabant on lipids, glycemic and inflammatory parameters - To assess effect of Rimonabant on body composition - To assess safety of Rimonabant
Primary objective: To determine the effect of Rimonabant 20mg on the co-primary endpoint including Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG), HDL-Cholesterol (HDL-C) and triglyceride (TG) levels over a period of 12 months when prescribed with a mild hypocaloric diet in abdominally obese patients with impaired fasting blood glucose and with or without associated comorbidities. Main Secondary objectives: To determine the effect of 12 months Rimonabant treatment versus placebo on changes in waist circumference (WC), body weight, glycemic parameters and lipid parameters. To assess the safety of 12 months Rimonabant treatment versus placebo in these patients.
The purpose of this study is to examine the long-term weight loss and safety of CP-945,598 in obese adults
It is estimated that up to 20% of patients who have Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) surgery will not meet their weight loss goal, or may even regain some of the weight they initially lost. One possible explanation is that the opening between the stomach pouch and the intestine becomes stretched. If this opening becomes too wide, food may be able to pass from the stomach to the intestine too quickly - causing patients to feel less full after eating. For some patients, doctors may recommend additional invasive surgery to tighten the opening between the stomach pouch and the small intestine. Although this may help patients resume their weight loss, the risk of complications during a second surgical procedure is significantly higher than the risk during the original gastric bypass. The purpose of this study is to evaluate an incisionless procedure for patients who have either had inadequate weight loss or have regained weight following gastric bypass. The procedure is designed to tighten the opening between the stomach pouch and the small intestine, which may slow down the passage of food to help patients feel full longer after eating.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether including a PDA decision support tool plus distance support enhances the outcomes attainable by the MOVE2! (Managing Obesity for Veterans Everywhere) standard care alone. Primary hypotheses are that obese patients with chronic pain who are randomized to MOVE2! + PDA + Support will a) lose more weight by 6 months, b) show greater maintenance of weight loss at 12 months, and c) display greater reduction in pain intensity and pain-related disability than those randomized to Standard Care. Secondary hypotheses are that MOVE2! + PDA + Support, compared to Standard Care will result in: a) improved quality of life, b) greater treatment adherence, and c) reduced care utilization.
