Filter by:In this study, participants will receive, in randomized, double-blind fashion, an intragastric bolus administration of either (i) 300 mg quinine, (ii) 5 g L-isoleucine, (iii) a combination of (i)+(ii), or (iv) control, before 350 ml (500 kcal) of a mixed-nutrient drink, to evaluate the effects on postprandial blood glucose, gastric emptying, and the hormone, and appetite, responses to the mixed-nutrient drink. Study visits will be separated by 3-7 days and participants will receive one treatment per visit. On each study visit, the participant will be intubated with a nasogastric feeding tube. At t= - 60 min (08:30 am), a baseline blood sample, visual analogue scale questionnaire (VAS), and breath sample will be collected and quinine or control will be administered through the feeding tube. 30 min later (at t= - 30 min), L-isoleucine or control will be administered over 2 min after which the feeding tube will be removed immediately. At t = -45, -30, -15, and -1 min further blood samples will be collected and VAS completed. At t = -1 min, participants will consume, within 1 minute, a mixed-nutrient drink, labeled with 100 mg of 1-13C-acetate for measurement of gastric emptying by breath sampling. Blood samples, VAS, and breath samples will be taken at regular intervals between t = 0-180 min.
This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, cross-over study with 4 arms. Healthy and GH deficient adults ages 18-45 years will be studied. Arms will consist of 21-day treatment periods and be separated by 8-week washout periods. Subjects will receive, in random order: i) GH alone, ii) GH with liraglutide, iii) liraglutide alone and iv) placebo. Each phase of the study will consist of a 7-day baseline period including 2 days of testing and 21 days on therapy with visits on days 2, 7, 14 and 21. Testing before, during and at the completion of each arm will include blood sampling and assessments of insulin resistance, energy expenditure and body composition.
This is a placebo-controlled study conducted to investigates the safety and efficacy of products containing marine collagen peptide and CoQ10 in enhancing skin rejuvenation of Malaysian women. The study duration is 28 days and the skin assessment will be carried out at baseline, Day 14 and Day 28.The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. The effect of product on skin hydration of women in Malaysia. 2. The effect of product on skin elasticity of women in Malaysia. 3. The effect of product on skin wrinkle of women in Malaysia. 4. The skin brightening effect of product on Malaysian women. 5. To observe any adverse effect occurrence with the consumption of the product.
The goal of this clinical study is to learn about disease-risk and age-associated changes in DNA methylation patterns associated with disease risk or age in healthy women aged 30-60 in response to health-promoting lifestyle intervention (intermittent fasting or smoking cessation). The main questions the study aims to answer are: - Are the scores of DNA methylation in epigenetic signatures associated with age, women's cancer risk, or risk exposure reduced after 6 months of lifestyle intervention compared to baseline? - What are the dynamics of DNA methylation changes during or following intervention, and do differences in changes between different sample types exist? - Which other biomarkers of health and disease, including metabolic changes, microbiome, clinical, mental, or inflammatory parameters, are altered following intervention? The investigators also aim to explore whether DNA methylation changes are associated with changes in other biomarkers mentioned above. Participants will be allocated to intermittent fasting or smoking cessation based on inclusion criteria. Intermittent fasting encompasses a 16:8 intermittent fasting schedule. Food intake is limited to an 8 h window per day with fasting for the remaining 16 h. Within the intermittent fasting study, participants are randomised to receive a ketogenic supplement (medium-chain triglyceride fibre) or not. Participants in the smoking cessation study will be guided to stop smoking. All participants will receive 1:1 personal coaching throughout the study, and will be provided with an optional exercise programme. All participants will also receive nutritional advice from a professional dietician throughout the study. Participants are invited to donate samples every 2 months for 6 months. Researchers will compare signatures at the start and after 6 months of intervention. Within the intermittent fasting group, researchers will compare effects in individuals that received the ketogenic supplement to those that did not.
This study with low-dose LSD comprised 2 substudies in healthy subjects. Subjects who met all inclusion and no exclusion criteria provided written informed consent. Part 1 was an open-label dose-escalation study in hallucinogen non-naïve subjects with significant prior experience with hallucinogens, during which each subject received a single dose of LSD: 50, 75, or 100 µg. Part 2 was a double blind, placebo controlled, randomised, crossover study in hallucinogen naïve subjects with no prior experience with hallucinogens in the last 7 years, during which each subject was assigned to 1 of 8 cohorts and then randomly assigned to receive single doses of LSD 50 µg followed by 75 µg, or placebo followed by 75 µg, with dosing separated by at least 7 days. Subjects were followed up on the day after each dosing, and 1 week and 1 month after the last dose of study treatment. A total of 32 subjects were enrolled.

This type of study design is required to evaluate the performance of pulse oximeters based upon the ISO 80601-2-61 standard which is also adopted and referenced by the FDA.
The purpose of this study is to understand if ARV-471 affects how a medicine called, dabigatran etexilate, gets absorbed or processed into the body in healthy adults. All participants in this study will receive one dose of dabigatran etexilate alone by mouth in Period 1. In Period 2, everyone will receive one dose of dabigatran etexilate by mouth approximately 90 minutes after receiving one dose of ARV-471 by mouth. The levels of dabigatran in Period 1 will be compared to the levels of dabigatran in Period 2. This will help us to determine if and how ARV-471 affects dabigatran gets absorbed into the body differently in healthy adults. All participants will stay at the study clinic for approximately 8 days and 7 nights.

The goal of this clinical trial is learn about motor imagery training (i.e. imagining a task) with healthy older adults. The main question this clinical trial aims to answer is: • Will imagining a task improve control of force during an elbow flexion muscle contraction in healthy older adults? Participants will: - Complete questionaries about general activity levels and ability to imagine tasks - Perform either motor imagery training or watch a documentary - Perform maximal and submaximal elbow flexion contractions Researchers will compare the motor imagery training with the control group to see if control of force is improved in the motor imagery training group.
