The Effects of Exercise Intensity on Mood and Wellbeing

The study will adopt a between-within group design where participants will exercise at 1 of 4 intensities for 30 minutes at SportsPark Reading. Mood, mental health (e.g., state anxiety and immediate depressive feelings) and physiological parameters (heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature) will be assessed before and after exercise intervention to compare the acute change across time for each intensity condition (no exercise (control), low, moderate, high).

Effect of Game-Based Phone Application on Nursing Students' Knowledge and Skills on Intestinal Stoma and Peristomal Care

Purpose: The purpose is to determine effect of game-based virtual reality phone application on nursing students' knowledge and skills on intestinal stoma and peristomal skin care. Material and methods:This study will be conducted as a single-blind randomized controlled experimental study between March-April 2023. The students in the experimental group will play the developed mobile game on stoma and peristomal skin care as much as they want for 5 days, while the students in the control group will perform skills on stoma and peristomal skin care on the model in the skill laboratory for only one day. After performing the inteventions, the skills and knowledge measurements of the students in both groups will be measured by the researcher through the forms prepared in accordance with the literature. After four weeks, the permanence levels of the students in both groups regarding stoma and peristomal skin care will be measured and the data collection process of the study will be terminated.

Effects of Intragastric Quinine, Alone or Combined With L-leucine, on Postprandial Glycaemic Control

In this study, participants will receive, in a randomized, double-blind fashion, an intragastric bolus administration of either (i) 300 mg quinine, (ii) 5 g L-leucine, (iii) a combination of (i)+(ii), or (iv) control, before 350 ml (500 kcal) of a mixed-nutrient drink, to evaluate the effects on postprandial blood glucose, gastric emptying, and the hormone responses to the mixed-nutrient drink. Study visits will be separated by 3-7 days and participants will receive one treatment per visit. On each study visit, the participant will be intubated with a nasogastric feeding tube. At t= - 60 min (08:30 am), a baseline blood sample, visual analogue scale questionnaire (VAS), and breath sample will be collected and quinine or control will be administered through the feeding tube. 30 min later (at t= - 30 min), L-leucine or control will be administered over 2 min after which the feeding tube will be removed immediately. At t = -45, -30, -15, and -1 min further blood samples will be collected and VAS completed. At t = -1 min, participants will consume, within 1 minute, a mixed-nutrient drink, labelled with 100 mg of 1-13C-acetate for measurement of gastric emptying by breath sampling. Blood samples, VAS, and breath samples will be taken at regular intervals between t = 0-180 min.

A Study to Test How BI 1015550 is Taken up in the Blood of People With and Without Kidney Problems

This study is open to adults aged 18 years and older. People without kidney problems and people who have moderate or severe kidney problems can join the study. The purpose of this study is to find out how a medicine called BI 1015550 is taken up in the blood of people with and without kidney problems. Kidney problems may change how a medicine is taken up in the blood. All participants take a single tablet of BI 1015550. Participants are in the study for about 2 weeks. During this time, they visit the study site 6 times. On the second visit, participants stay overnight at the study site for 4 nights. At the visits, doctors take blood samples to measure the levels of BI 1015550 in participants' blood. Then they compare the results between the groups of participants with and without kidney problems. The doctors also check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

Refractix DSP and TS Meter-DSP Measurement Comparison

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the serum plasma measurement results between the FDA cleared TS Meter-DSP and investigational Refractix DSP. Study participants will be individuals being screened for plasma donation in a plasmaphereris center. The main question the study aims to answer is whether the measurement taken on the investigational Refractix DSP device is equivalent, defined as within +/- 0.3g/100ml, of the measurement taken on the TS Meter-DSP. Participants will be asked to provide a second capillary tube of blood (<0.085ml) from the fingerstick that is part of their routine pre-screening for plasma donation.
