Filter by:stress. Notably, several studies reported that stress could alter impulsivity, source monitoring, and time perception. Several mechanisms are involved in the response to a stress factor, among them the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. The cortisol reactivity (it means the cortisol secretion after the exposure to a standardized stress factor) is a reliable tool to assess the function of HPA. Cortisol secretion is bidirectionally influenced by the prefrontal cortex (PFC), which is involved in the expression and regulation of stress as well. The asymmetry of the alpha band (AFα) is a well known electrophysiological parameter to assess the function of PFC. More precisely, AFα is arising a growing interest, as it is believed to be correlated with the cortisol reactivity. Modifying this asymmetry could influence the stress response. Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS) consists in delivering a sinusoidal alternating current between two electrodes placed on the scalp at a predefined frequency. Previous studious reported that tACS, if delivered at the alpha frequency, increased the alpha band in the stimulated areas
This prospective, randomized crossover trial will enroll adult healthy volunteers. Initially, the subject's peak inspiratory flow will be measured using a mask connected with a respiratory monitor. Subsequently, the volunteers will undergo HFNC treatment at different flow settings while their peak inspiratory flow will be continuously monitored. The primary outcome of this study is the lung aeration with different flow settings. Secondary outcomes include the lung aeration with different devices, subject's comfort at different flow settings, and the correlation between the subject's peak inspiratory flow measured by HFNC and by a mask connected with a respiratory monitor.
The aim of GENESIS clinical study is to map the HLA genomic region in the Greek population and evaluate possible correlations with selected underlying diseases.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the acute effects of static stretching on the shoulder joint position sense of overhead athletes.
The purpose of this study is to to verify the immediate effects of dynamic cupping on shoulder active range of motion (AROM) of senior male handball athletes.
This is a single-center, open, randomized, single-dose, two-cycle, two-sequence, crossover pharmacokinetic study in healthy adult subjects. The trial is planned to enroll 24 healthy subjects. Subjects will be randomized to one of two groups (Group A: T-R, Group B: R-T) according to the randomization table. The washout period (dosing interval) between doses will be at least 7 days. For example, for a washout period of 7 days, all subjects will receive the appropriate drug according to the randomized schedule on Day 1 of Cycle 1 and Day 8 of Cycle 2 of the trial.
Threonine is an essential amino acid and must be obtained from the diet. The body's capacity to maintain adequate mucin synthesis is directly related to the bioavailability of certain amino acids, including threonine, serine and proline (1). Moreover, the rate of mucin synthesis has been demonstrated to be directly related to the availability of dietary threonine in healthy rats (2) and piglets (3,4). Intestinal inflammation is known to increase gastrointestinal threonine uptake and mucin synthesis in enterally fed minipigs (5). Additionally, in animals, mucin function/barrier has been shown to decline with age, leaving them more susceptible to bacterial penetration. Thus, with advancing age (6), a higher dietary supply of threonine may be needed for maintaining intestinal mucosal health. Despite this, the current threonine requirement is based on studies conducted exclusively in young adults. Thus, there is a need to determine the threonine requirement directly in older adults.
The study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of CS32582 after single or multiple oral administration, as well as the food effect on the pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects.
This is a Phase 1, FIH, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and PK characteristics of ENC1018 after single and multiple oral dose administration in healthy adult subjects. The study will be conducted in two parts: Part A -Single ascending Dose (SAD) and Part B - Multiple ascending dose (MAD). A Food Effect Cohort will be conducted within Part A. Part A is for the single dose use of IP, while Part B is once daily use for 14 consecutive days. Approximately 72 healthy adult subjects are planned to be enrolled. Each subject will be enrolled in only one cohort of either Parts A or B of the study, to receive only one dose regimen during the study. Part B may be initiated in parallel or prior to completion of Part A, at the discretion of Safety Review Committee (SRC), upon reviewing safety and plasma PK data.
The goal of this observational study is to to evaluate the validity and reliability of the "Postural Stability Test", "Stability Limits Test", "Sensory Integration Test" and "One-Leg Standing Test" tests of the newly developed patented balance assessment system in healthy young adults. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Are the "Postural Stability Test", "Stability Limits Test", "Sensory Integration Test" and "One-Leg Standing Test" tests in the newly developed balance assessment system a valid method for healthy young adults? - Are the "Postural Stability Test", "Stability Limits Test", "Sensory Integration Test" and "One-Leg Standing Test" tests in the newly developed balance assessment system a reliable method for healthy young adults? Participants will be evaluated with the "Postural Stability Test", "Limits of Stability Test", "Sensory Integration Test" and "Bilateral Comparison Test" within the AlBalance Balance Evaluation System and Biodex Balance Evaluation System. Participants will be asked to sit in a chair and rest for 5 minutes before starting the tests. To calculate the test-retest reliability and validity of the devices, these measurements will be made by the same evaluator in two sessions, 7 days apart. To eliminate the learning effect, participants who try AlBalance first in the first session will try Biodex first in the second session (reverse test order will be used). Participants who complete all evaluations with the first device will rest for 5 minutes and move on to the other device. Then, parallel clinical tests will be applied to the participants, "Functional Reaching Test" and "One Leg Standing Test".
