Use of Incentives for Stressful Medical Procedures

Start date: June 2, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the use of incentives in pediatric patients requiring medical procedures. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Are incentives effective at reducing pediatric anxiety for medical procedures? - What is the best way to use incentives with pediatric populations requiring medical procedures? Participants will be provided support in preparation for their procedure and during the procedure by a child life specialist and might receive an incentive prize after their procedure. Participants distress levels during the procedure will be observed and they will be asked to rate their anxiety on a visual analog scale. Researchers will compare the anxiety of those who did or did not receive an incentive after their procedure to see if incentives reduced procedural anxiety.

NCT ID: NCT06249620 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Oral Supplementation With AM3, Hesperidin and Spermidine Supplementation on Immunity Response and Biological Age.

Start date: April 19, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this interventional study is to know the immune status of healthy participants and to obtain their biological age before and after two months of ingesting a dietary supplement. These individuals are compared with others who will be given a product of similar appearance, but without containing active components, being the constituents of the placebo group. The study has a duration of 8 weeks, with 2 interventional visits (complete blood samples will be collected) at baseline and at 8 weeks. In order to be included in the trial, the patient must read the Patient Information Sheet and sign the informed consent form. The dosage regimen is two capsules per day in a single dose.

Physiology of Human Brain Connectivity

Start date: February 6, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effective connectivity between different regions of the human brain in healthy participants, and the mechanisms which influence and modulate its development. Specifically, the investigators will examine the effects of cortico-cortical paired associative stimulation (ccPAS) which is induced by the application of brief (< 1 ms) transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) pulses separated by a short millisecond-level time intervals ("asynchrony") to two different areas of the brain. All techniques are non-invasive and considered safe in humans: TMS, electroencephalography (EEG), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Based on previous animal and human studies, it is hypothesized that ccPAS will increase or decrease effective connectivity between the stimulated areas depending on the asynchrony value. The main outcome measure is source-resolved EEG cortico-cortical evoked potentials (ccEPs) elicited by single-pulse TMS.

The Effects of Individualized Respiratory Exercise Device in Healthy Individuals

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Respiratory exercise devices can be grouped as respiratory muscle training (RMT) devices and incentive spirometers (IS). IS can improve pulmonary ventilation using visual feedback but cannot increase respiratory muscle strength. RMT devices strengthen the respiratory muscles by their resistance mechanisms but they cannot provide visual feedback. It has been stated that RMT increases exercise performance in healthy individuals. RMT devices usually allow only one of inspiratory muscle training or expiratory muscle training. The need to acquire 2 devices for combined training increases the cost. It is seen that the RMT devices available in Turkey do not allow combined training and a significant part of them do not offer sufficient loading range. The aims of the project are; to develop a multifunctional individualized respiratory exercise device originating in Turkey, and to analyze the clinical effects of an individualized respiratory exercise device on pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and functional capacity in healthy individuals. The device to be developed in this project will be the first multifunctional respiratory exercise device originated in Turkey. The device will have the clinical features of IS and RMT devices and can be individualized according to the desired purpose. With the same device, the individual will be able to both improve the ventilation of the lungs like the IS and strengthen the respiratory muscles in the direction of inspiration and/or expiration with wide loading intervals. A total of 46 healthy individuals will be included in the study. The healthy individuals included in the study will be randomly divided into two groups experimental group (n=23) and control group (n=23). The individuals in the experimental group will be trained with an individualized respiratory exercise device for 5 days a week for 8 weeks. The individuals in the control group will be trained with Threshold® IMT + Threshold™ PEP training for 5 days a week for 8 weeks. In both groups, pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and functional capacity will be assessed before and after the 8 weeks of training.

NCT ID: NCT06243627 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

A Study to Assess Safety and Improvement in Skin Barrier After Using 2 Facial Sunscreens in Adults With Sensitive Skin

Start date: September 27, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this trial is to evaluate 1) the dermatological tolerability of 2 facial sunscreens after 21 (+2) days of use under normal conditions on the half face by adult subjects with sensitive skin, 2) Compare the efficacy of investigational products (IPs) after 21 (+2) days of use in adult subjects with sensitive skin, under dermatological supervision through the following evaluations: the transepidermal water loss in the nasolabial region; the sensory perception of the subjects using the sensory perception questionnaire, after 21 (+2) days of use under normal conditions; the sensitivity of the subjects' skin after the first application of each product using a questionnaire on the perception of signs of discomfort.

NCT ID: NCT06243198 Recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

A Study to Investigate the Safety and Pharmacokinetics of Lebrikizumab in Healthy Chinese Participants

Start date: March 28, 2024
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The main purpose of this study is to determine the tolerability and side effects related to lebrikizumab comparing with placebo given as a single dose administered under the skin to healthy Chinese participants. The study will also assess how fast lebrikizumab gets into the blood stream and how long the body takes to get rid of it. Each enrolled participant will receive a single dose of either Lebrikizumab or placebo. For each participant, the total duration of the study will be approximately up to 21 weeks, including screening period.

Start date: October 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is being performed to evaluate the effect of different active workstations (e.g., standing, stepping, or walking stations) on work performance through the evaluation of neurocognitive function using reasoning, memory, concentration, and fine motor skills evaluation tools.

NCT ID: NCT06237530 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Interoception and Body Scan

Start date: July 26, 2023
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Body scan meditation has been assumed to be an interoceptive intervention, and the evidence for its effects on interoceptive processes is unclear. Although this mindfulness based exercise typically involves focusing on some interoceptive signals such as breath, it also involves other bodily cues, such as somatosensory cues. The present study aimed to (1) investigate the feasibility of three online delivered mindfulness practices that differ in the signals targeted: visceral body scan (VBS), somatosensory body scan (SBS), and external (non body) meditation (ECM), and (2) gain insight into the potentially different effects of these interventions on interoceptive and other psychological outcomes in order to inform future full scale randomized controlled trials (RCT).
