Filter by:In December 2019, the new coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) exploded in Wuhan (Hubei, China) and spread rapidly from one city to the whole world. This virus resulted in a total of 1679720 confirmed cases and 101734 deaths worldwide. All countries in the world are taking some precautions to prevent the spread of this epidemic disease, which World Health Organization (WHO) declared as "epidemic". Staying home and social isolation are among these precautions. For this purpose, it began to implement the curfew for all individuals on 10 March 2020, Turkey. However, not leaving the house and social isolation bring about the limitation of physical activity. Physical activity (PA) is defined as anybody's movement produced by WHO by contraction of skeletal muscles. Studies investigating the relationship between social isolation and health behavior report consistent findings. Individuals with smaller social networks report less healthy diets, excessive alcohol consumption, and less physical activity. Traditional exercises; It takes place outdoors in gyms or rehabilitation centers. However, with the increase in the time we spent at home due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, technologies have been used as an alternative method. Home-based exercise programs are also a viable solution to prevent various health problems that may be encountered in this direction. The decrease in physical performance is associated with loss of muscle strength, low quality of life, emotionalization, comorbidity, premature death, and increased health costs. When today's conditions are evaluated, technology-supported education programs are effective in increasing motivation for physical support. The purpose of this study; To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, to evaluate the physical activity levels of individuals between the ages of 18-40 who have social isolation due to the measures taken in our country and to investigate the effectiveness of their video-based exercises.
This research examine the effectiveness of a Pilates intervention for reducing the risk of falls among adults aged over 65 years. The effects were measured the Pilates classes with a supplementary home-based exercises in two phases: Phase I investigated (Mat Pilates supervised with a supplementary home-based Pilates exercise for the pre and post-test of 6 weeks intervention. Eligible 32 participants). The main study randomised controlled trial (phase II) investigate whether a Pilates intervention of 12 weeks with a supplementary at home program is effective in reducing falls risk factors. Rectal indomethacin and pancreatic duct (PD) stenting (PDS) are recommended for the prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP). However, the effects of the combination of the two methods on preventing PEP are controversial. We hypothesized that some group of patients with difficult cannulation might benefit from the combination of indomethacin plus PDS (IP) compared with indomethacin alone (IN).
Scientific evidence is growing on the health benefits of herbs/spices. The study is interested in understanding how various herb and spice blends influence the function of blood vessels. The study is also interested in how blood sugar, the insulin hormone and immune cells may be related to how well the blood vessels function. Herbs and spices have components called phytochemicals that may be related to how well blood vessels function. The study is planned to investigate these relationships. After qualifying to participate in the research study, participants will be asked to come to the Clinical Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) for four on-site Study Days, each lasting for about 8 hours with a 40 min followup to measure vessels' function the next morning. On each Study Day, different amounts of herbs/spices will be included in a breakfast meal. The herbs and spices are purchased in the grocery store and are Italian herbs, cinnamon, and a mix of pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg). All meals will be prepared in the CNRC's kitchen using foods and ingredients purchased at the local grocery store. Blood collection and blood vessel function tests will be performed during the Study Day using typical procedures used in hospitals, doctor offices, and clinics.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetic (PK) and safety of an age-appropriate tofacitinib Modified Release (MR) formulation with varying level of enteric coating. The effect of food on the PK of age-appropriate tofacitinib MR formulation with the lowest and higher levels of enteric coating will also be assessed.
