The primary goal of this study is to evaluate whether intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) is effective for treating depression in people who have depression and chronic hoarding disorder (HD). The study will also evaluate whether this treatment can improve HD symptoms, cognitive performance, and brain region connectivity. The study team will investigate how the treatment works for depression, as well as other factors that can enhance or hinder treatment, such as pre-treatment level of depression, cognitive performance, or brain region connectivity.

Living With Multimorbidity: CO-ORDINATE Program

Multimorbidity is common and is the coexistence of two or more chronic conditions in the same individual. People with multimorbidity suffer from a high symptom burden, directly affecting quality of life (QOL). Hospitalization can be a window of opportunity to initiate interventions to promote recovery and resilience and enhance QOL. However, interventions targeting the symptom trajectory and burden of patients with multimorbidity are lacking. Thus, the investigators envisage a nurse-led pre-discharge intervention augmented by telephone support, focusing on care coordination and symptom management. This approach is anticipated to help reduce symptom burden and improve QOL.

Supported Employment COVID-19 Rapid Testing for PWID

This community-engaged project aims to improve the accessibility of rapid tests through a supported employment program for people who inject drugs (PWID). The program is called Peer Connect2Test (PeerC2T). PWID will be recruited by a community partner who provides syringe exchange services. PWID will the trained by the community partner to become peer health workers (PHW) to distribute SARS-CoV-2 rapid tests to other PWID. Investigators expect that PeerC2T will improve knowledge, self-efficacy, and health behaviors among PHW (Aim 1). The study will use the RE-AIM framework in Aims 2 and 3 to evaluate whether PeerC2T improves SARS-CoV-2 testing uptake among other PWID (RE; Aim 2), and identify intervention considerations (AIM; Aim 3). The overall goal of this project is develop a transformative community-driven intervention in partnership with a community partner to promote widespread access to rapid testing among PWID.

Pilot Study of a MIND Diet Intervention in Women Undergoing Active Treatment for Breast Cancer

Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women. Systemic cancer treatments are an important contributor to dramatic improvements in the long-term survival of women with BC. However, cancer treatment can lead to cognitive impairment and declines in quality of life in women with BC. Many cancer survivors experience memory and brain function decline following chemotherapy which can last for years. A newer diet pattern, Mediterranean-DASH [Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension] Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND), was shown to help with protecting brain functions. The MIND diet is high in anti-inflammatory nutrients (e.g., omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), carotenoids, B-vitamins, and polyphenols) and limits the intake of brain-unhealthy foods (i.e., butter/margarine, cheese, red meat, fried foods, pastries, and sweets), which may help alleviate negative cognitive outcomes from cancer treatments. This randomized controlled trial aims to investigate the effect of the MIND diet on cognitive functions in women with invasive BC starting systemic therapies.
