NCT ID: NCT04789330 Completed - Surgery Clinical Trials

Norepinephrine vs Phenylephrine During General Anesthesia

VEGA-1
Start date: July 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

50 million patients undergo surgery each year in the United States. Postoperative mortality is considered the third leading cause of death worldwide. Hypotension during surgery have been linked to increased postoperative morbidity and mortality. Episodes of hypotension during surgery are associated with an increased risk of acute kidney injury, stroke, cardiac events and death. Treating or preventing hypotension during general anesthesia and major surgery was found to improve outcomes. At this time, it is unclear what is the best vasopressor to maintain blood pressure during surgery under general anesthesia. With this pilot pragmatic trial, the investigators will explore the impact of norepinephrine (NE) or phenylephrine (PE) on post-operative events in patients undergoing major surgery with general anesthesia and needing vasopressors infusion to maintain their systemic arterial pressure.

NCT ID: NCT04789200 Completed - GI Disorders Clinical Trials

Phase 2 Study of NX9 for Delineation of Bowel Anatomy

Start date: August 1, 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate marking and distention of the bowel of the oral contrast agent, NX9, at CT of the abdomen and pelvis, VLDCT with no contrast will be followed by VLDCT with NX9 contrast followed by CT with NX9 and standard IV contrast. Eligible subjects will have cancer or other GI disorders for which CT is typically used to assess their disease. This is an open label study with efficacy evaluated in a masked fashion following completion of the entire study. Results of the NX9 scans will not be used for treatment decisions. PK will be evaluated in a subset of subjects at a single center.

NCT ID: NCT04789174 Completed - Clinical trials for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Solriamfetol's Effect on Cognitive Health in Apnea Participants During a Randomized Placebo-controlled Study

SHARP
Start date: May 17, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of study JZP110-405 is to determine whether solriamfetol is effective at improving cognitive function in participants with excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) associated with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) plus impaired cognitive function.

NCT ID: NCT04788758 Completed - Clinical trials for Malignant Solid Neoplasm

Geriatric Assessment Screening Tool for the Identification of At-Risk Older Adults Who Are Undergoing Cancer Treatment

Start date: January 29, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This phase II trial investigates how easy it is to incorporate a nursing led geriatric assessment screening tool into a busy oncology practice, in order to identify at-risk older adults being evaluated for cancer treatment. This screening tool may help identify at-risk patients who can be referred for more in depth assessment, allowing for the creation of an individualized treatment plan that puts the patient's safety and personal goals as a priority.

NCT ID: NCT04788537 Completed - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Services to Enhance Social Functioning in Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorders

Start date: February 16, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test a novel, three-part cognitive behavioral treatment strategy to improve social functioning in adults with autism spectrum disorder. The treatment, named TUNE In (Training to Understand and Navigate Emotions and Interactions), includes components to address the many behavioral domains involved in social functioning, including social motivation, social anxiety, social cognition, social skills, and generalization of the skills to community settings. The Investigators will test the efficacy of TUNE In to improve social functioning in adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), using a randomized controlled trial using the SRS-2 as the primary outcome measure.

NCT ID: NCT04788511 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Research Study to Investigate How Well Semaglutide Works in People Living With Heart Failure and Obesity

STEP-HFpEF
Start date: March 16, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will look at how the participants daily life is affected by their heart failure. The study will also look at the change in participants body weight from the start to the end of the study. This is to compare the effect on heart failure symptoms and on body weight in people taking semaglutide (a new medicine) to people taking "dummy" medicine. Participants will either get semaglutide or "dummy" medicine - which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will need to take 1 injection once a week. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in a skin fold in the stomach area, thigh or upper arm. During the study participants will have talks with the study staff about healthy lifestyle choices including healthy food and physical activity. The study will last for approximately 59 weeks. Participants will have 11 clinic visits and 1 phone call with the study doctor. Women: Women cannot take part if they are pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period.

NCT ID: NCT04788329 Completed - Post Operative Pain Clinical Trials

The Effect of Mindfulness Programs on Postoperative Pain

Start date: February 15, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Participants undergoing hand surgery will be assessed and compared for postoperative pain. The patients' experience of going through surgery will be evaluated. The patient satisfaction and patient assessed outcomes will be measured.

NCT ID: NCT04788264 Completed - Lung Carcinoma Clinical Trials

Exercise Training and Behavioral Modification for the Improvement of Physical Activity in Head and Neck Cancer Patients Undergoing Cancer Treatment

Start date: March 28, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This clinical trial evaluates the tolerability of a physical activity program in head and neck cancer patients who are undergoing cancer treatment. The goal of this trial is to give patients exercises prescribed by a physical therapist that they are able to complete regularly at home. Increasing physical activity may help patients reduce fatigue, improve mood, increase physical performance, and decrease joint pain.
