Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The ADDITION study comprise 2 parts: screening for Type 2 diabetes and intensive treatment compared to standard treatment. 1. In the screening study, the feasibility and results of country specific models to identify undiagnosed individuals with Type 2 diabetes will be evaluated. 2. In the treatment study the effects of routine care in general practice according to local and national guidelines will be compared with an intensive ADDITION protocol, including structured lifestyle education (dietary modification, increased physical activity and smoking cessation) and intensive treatment of blood glucose, blood pressure and lipids, and prophylactic aspirin with or without motivational interviewing, on mortality, macrovascular and microvascular disease. Furthermore the impact of treatment on health status, treatment satisfaction and health service costs will also be assessed.

NCT ID: NCT00235846 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Arteriosclerosis

Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting During Coronary Bypass Surgery

Start date: December 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Conventional open vein harvesting from the legs during coronary artery bypass surgery result in wound complications among 30% of the patients. Endoscopic harvesting decrease the complication rate, but it remains to be shown whether this is also a fact among patient in whom only short segments of veingraft material is needed from the leg. We hypothesise that the rate of wound complications will be reduced and the patient satisfaction will be increased also among patients in whom only short vein segments are endoscopically harvested compared to conventional open vein harvesting.

NCT ID: NCT00235417 Completed - Myocardial Ischemia Clinical Trials

Stem Cell Therapy in Chronic Ischemic Heart Failure

Start date: October 2005
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether intracoronary bone marrow transplantation can improve left ventricular ejection fraction in patients with severe ischemic heart failure and no other option for standard therapies (revascularization and drugs).

NCT ID: NCT00235261 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Effect of Paracetamol, Pregabalin and Dexamethasone on Pain and Opioid Requirements in Patients After Hip Operations

Start date: October 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Patients scheduled for primary total hip replacement needs postoperative pain treatment: i.e. morphine. Unfortunately morphine has side-effects: nausea, vomiting, sedation and dizziness, which is unpleasant for the patients and sometimes keeps them at bed longer time than needed. We investigate in new combinations of analgesics for postoperative pain, hoping to minimize the need for morphine and improve the patients pain score after operation.
