NCT ID: NCT03557723 Completed - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Effect of Art Museum Activity Program for the Elderly on Health: A Pilot Observational Study

Start date: January 9, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Older adults, defined as 65 years or older, are increasing in number and representing a larger part of Canadian population. Assessing and addressing the needs of this growing number of individuals is essential. Practicing art and/or being involved in cultural programs could enhance health and quality of life of older adults. The overall objective of the proposal is to describe the characteristics (i.e.; socio-demographic, health condition and quality of life) and their changes in older adults participating in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA; Quebec, Canada) art activities program called "Les Beaux Jeudis". An observational, prospective, cohort study, before and after participation in MMFA art activities program "Les Beaux Jeudis" will be performed.

This is a study designed to evaluate efficacy and safety of Benralizumab in reducing the Oral Corticosteroid (OCS) use in adult patients with severe asthma who are receiving OCS with or without additional asthma controller medications.

NCT ID: NCT03556423 Completed - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

Neurophysiological Mechanisms Involved in Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: July 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Introduction: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an effective intervention to relieve people with osteoarthritis (OA). Nevertheless, 15 to 30% of patients continue to experience severe pain following surgery. Recent data suggest that central nervous system (CNS) changes may play a role in OA pain and possibly explain why some patients have poorer clinical outcomes following TKA. Objectives: Our main objectives are to explore the relationship between OA pain and (1) the integrity of corticospinal system, (2) the efficacy of descending pain inhibition circuits. Methods: Fifty-two patients waiting for TKA will be recruited. The integrity of the corticospinal projections will be measured using transcranial magnetic stimulation (recruitment curve of the affected quadriceps femoris muscle) and the descending pain inhibition circuits (bulbospinal projections) will be assessed by a counter-irritation paradigm (i.e., conditioned pain modulation with immersion of the arm in painfully cold water). Diffuse tension imaging (DTI) will also be used to quantify the strength of these corticospinal and bulbospinal projections. Clinical outcomes will be evaluated before and after arthroplasty with a series of validated questionnaires such as the WOMAC Scale, the McGill Pain Questionnaire and the Brief Pain Inventory. These different neurophysiological and clinical measures will be taken before surgery, 6 months after surgery and 1 year post-surgery. Anticipated results: The investigators expect a moderate association between pain and the strength of the corticospinal and bulbospinal projections. Moreover, it is expected that there will be a moderate association between the strength of the corticospinal/bulbospinal projections and the clinical evolution of patients.

NCT ID: NCT03556202 Terminated - Psoriasis Clinical Trials

A Long-term Study to Evaluate Safety and Maintenance of Treatment Effect of LY3074828 in Participants With Moderate-to-Severe Plaque Psoriasis (OASIS-3)

Start date: September 3, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and maintenance of efficacy of mirikizumab in participants with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

NCT ID: NCT03555955 Completed - Clinical trials for Acute Myeloid Leukemia

A Trial to Evaluate the Potential Impact of Renal Impairment on the Pharmacokinetics and Safety of CPX-351

Start date: November 20, 2018
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the pharmacokinetics and safety of CPX-351 in patients with moderate or severe renal impairment.

NCT ID: NCT03555734 Active, not recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Umbrella Review and Updated Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Pulses/Legumes and Incident Cardiometabolic Diseases

Start date: November 21, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) guidelines have not made any specific recommendations regarding dietary pulses. To update the recommendations, the Diabetes and Nutrition Study Group (DNSG) of the EASD commissioned an umbrella review and updated systematic review and meta-analysis using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach to summarize the available evidence from prospective cohort studies of the association between dietary pulses/legumes and cardiometabolic disease outcomes (incident cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension and overweight/obesity).

NCT ID: NCT03555422 Active, not recruiting - Endometrial Cancer Clinical Trials

Maintenance With Selinexor/Placebo After Combination Chemotherapy in Participants With Endometrial Cancer [SIENDO]

ENGOT-EN5
Start date: January 5, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized Phase 3 study. The purpose of the study is to obtain evidence of efficacy for maintenance selinexor in participants with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer. Participants with primary stage IV or recurrent disease who are in partial or complete response after having completed a single line of at least 12 weeks of taxane-platinum combo therapy will be randomized in a 2:1 manner to maintenance therapy with 80 milligram (mg) with selinexor once weekly (QW) or placebo until progression.

NCT ID: NCT03555136 Completed - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

Real-life Effectiveness of Vortioxetine in Depression

RELIEVE
Start date: November 17, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Worldwide Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) has significant negative personal, societal and economic consequences. Vortioxetine (Brintellix®) is a new antidepressant authorized since 2013. Despite evidence generated from clinical trials which demonstrate that vortioxetine is an efficacious, well-tolerated antidepressant, there is a need to determine the effectiveness of vortioxetine in real life routine practice. The study aim is to examine the real-life effectiveness of vortioxetine on functioning, depressive symptom relief, cognition and quality of life. This is an observational, multi-national, study in patients with MDD initiating treatment with vortioxetine. Information will be collected by the physician, from the patient and their medical record at three time points - baseline, week 12 and week 24 (end of follow-up). This study will be conducted in six countries. In total 2,100 patients are planned for enrolment.

Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The principal objective of this study is to compare migration patterns between the Attune and Attune S+ PS knee systems using model-based RSA over the first 2 post-operative years. Secondary objectives include; comparison of 2-year migration values against published thresholds for adequate short-term fixation, quantify changes in functional and health status of subjects following surgery and compare between study groups, and assess occurrences of complications following surgery.

NCT ID: NCT03554603 Completed - Clinical trials for Urinary Tract Infections

Modified Reporting of Positive Urine Cultures Collected From Long Term Care

Start date: November 5, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Asymptomatic bacteriuria (AB) is a condition in which bacteria are detected in urine culture without urinary symptoms. The inappropriate use of antibiotic treatment for AB selects bacterial flora to express resistance mutations. Reducing inappropriate antibiotic use for AB is difficult, since the microbiology laboratory cannot distinguish patients with AB. The investigators study will use a restricted laboratory report requesting the physician to call the laboratory for culture results. The restricted report may reduce the rate of inappropriate treatment of AB.
