Filter by:In breast cancer patients, limitation of shoulder joint movement may occur following cancer treatment. Shoulder limitation causes a significant decrease in the patient's participation in activities of daily living. The aim of the study is to define these limitations, to evaluate in detail all the structures that cause the problem, and to determine the causes of the limitations in patients with shoulder joint movement limitation developed after breast cancer survivors.
In breast cancer patients, limitation of shoulder joint movement occurs following mastectomy surgery. Studies have reported that damage to the fascia on the pectoralis major muscle during mastectomy surgery contributes to the development of the limitation. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of release techniques applied to the fascia on the pectoralis major muscle and the fascial chain on the incerasing of shoulder joint range of motion.
This pilot feasibility study aims to set the foundation to investigate the applicability of QPOP drug selection followed by CURATE.AI-guided dose optimisation of the selected azacitidine combination therapy for solid tumours using CURATE.AI within the current clinical setting. QPOP will identify drug interactions towards optimal efficacy and cytotoxicity from the pre-specified drug pool based on ex vivo experimental data from the individual participant's tissue sample model. With these drug interactions, QPOP will identify the optimal drugs for the specific participant whose biopsy provided the cells for the ex vivo experimentation. Subsequently, CURATE.AI will be used to guide dosing for the selected combination therapy for that participant. Individualised CURATE.AI profiles will be generated based on each participant's response to a set of drug doses. Subsequently, the personalised CURATE.AI profile will be used to recommend the efficacy-driven dose. CURATE.AI will operate only within the safety range for each drug pre-specified for each participant. This pilot feasibility study will inform the investigators on the logistical and scientific feasibility of performing a large-scale randomised controlled trial (RCT) with the selected azacitidine combination therapy regimens and response markers. A secondary objective is to collect toxicity and efficacy data using established and exploratory response markers within and in-between cycles as exploratory outcomes.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer amongst women in terms of frequency, with more than 50 000 newly diagnosed cases per year in France. The average 5-year survival rate for women with breast cancer is around 85%. Surgical treatment by total mastectomy concerns around 30% of cases. For patients who have been treated for breast cancer by total mastectomy, secondary breast reconstructions are often carried out via excess abdominal fat flaps of DIEP type. Postoperative partial fat necrosis is a common complication of breast reconstruction. This necrosis is qualified as pathological when it is palpable or when there are symptoms leading to pain, deformation, or leakage. Necrosis occurs in the first 6 months after surgery. Diagnosis is carried out by the detection of a nodule of fat necrosis measuring at least 5 mm on the ultrasound. Partial flat necrosis results from ischemia reperfusion (IR) to the fat tissues during reconstruction. IR leads to inflammatory lesions, edema, capillary occlusion that can lead to tissue necrosis. The deleterious impact of IR has been shown on the organs (liver, kidney) on muscular, cutaneous and adipose tissues in humans and animals. Ischaemic preconditioning is a procedure used in organ transplant surgery, allowing a better tolerance of the graft for ischemia reperfusion, without further complications. It is used in usual practice for kidney or liver transplants; short cycles of ischemia reperfusion are carried out on the organ pedicle before harvesting using cold ischemia (out of the donor's body) pre-transplant. Ischaemic preconditioning before reconstruction has been studied in animal models but not in human reconstruction surgery, although it seems to be beneficial. For patients undergoing total mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer, we hypothesize that ischaemic preconditioning, usually used for organ transplants, could decrease adipose tissue lesions caused by ischemia reperfusion after breast reconstruction with DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) flaps.
Differential immunogenomic signatures from peripheral blood CD14 (phagocytic) and CD2 (non-phagocytic) cells have been associated with multiple cancers and disease states. In particular several large clinical studies at Immunis.AI have demonstrated robust immunogenomic signatures in early-stage prostate cancer. Immunis.AI therefore hypothesizes that a peripheral blood immunogenomic signature will identify patients with various stages of breast cancer from healthy negative controls.
Introduction Due to improvements in diagnostics and treatments, the 5-year survival for patients with breast cancer is 80-90% after initial diagnosis. During treatments, patients typically have consultations weekly and then gradually reduce to annual visits. During this transition from hospital-based care to health self-management, the breast cancer survivors are encouraged to e.g. exercise because of accumulating evidence for the efficacy of exercise training in cancer survivorship, and in the majority of cases, adhere to endocrine treatments to reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence. Design and methods The study is a one-arm convergent parallel mixed-methods feasibility intervention study. The quantitative data will be the use of the Bone@bc app (intervention) and questionnaires (n=50) and the Qualitative data will be semi-structured interviews (n= 15 - 20)
Worldwide, Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women,where 1.7 million new cases diagnosed in 2012 . In 2020 number doubled as 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer. According to ACS 1 in 8 women in United states will develop breast cancer in her life . Similarly again, In Egypt breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women about 22,700 new cases recorded in 2020. Accounting for 38.8% of cancers in this population and forecasted to be approximately 46,000 in 2050 . Post-operative radiotherapy is fundamental part of treatment after either conservative surgery or mastectomy . Conventionally fractionated radiation therapy (CFRT) ,Delivering 45-50 GY in 1.8-2 GY daily fractions for 5 days per week over 5-7 weeks was the standard schedule to eradicate sub clinical disease ,sparing normal tissues .After the publication of long term results of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing safety and effectiveness of hypo fractionated RT (HFRT)delivered in3 weeks ,vs. CFRT in node negative BC has been implemented . in 2008 numerous international guidelines recommended HFRT as the new standard being Cost effectiveness ,limited resources ,excessively long RT waiting lists ,Another important argument for HFRT utilization ,even assuming alpha/beta of 1.5GY ,is biologically milder or isoeffective for healthy tissues compered to CFRT . Cardiac toxicity is potentially long or short term complication of various anticancer therapies systemic therapy as anthracyclines or biological agent implicated in causing irreversible cardiac dysfunction. This study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of the motivational interviewing technique applied to menopausal women on their participation in breast and cervical cancer screenings. This is a randomized controlled intervention study in which the study sample will consist of 120 menopausal women, who visit the health care centers in the city of Kutahya. There will be one intervention group with a total of 60 participants and a control group with the same number of participants. The intervention group will have motivational interviews whereas the control group participants will follow the normal protocols.
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a new method of treating solid tumours by thermally ablating them. It has been used in a number of different types of cancers but there is little information on its use in invasive breast cancer (IBC). The investigators aim to assess the efficacy and safety of HIFU in the treatment of IBC. In this study, fifteen otherwise healthy women diagnosed with small, early stage IBC will be treated with HIFU prior to conventional surgical treatment. The effects of HIFU on the resected tumour will be analysed pathologically and correlated with radiological findings. Immune response and participant experience will also be evaluated
This study will assess the objective response rate (ORR), safety, progression-free survival (PFS) , overall survival (OS), 6-month survival rate, 12-month survival rate, 18-month survival rate, 24-month survival rate, disease control rate (DCR), clinical benefit rate (CBR), duration of response (DOR) and Time to Response (TTR). Injection of A166 for HER2-positive patients with refractory unresectable locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who have failed previous ADC drug therapy.
