Effect of Photobiomodulation on the Treatment of Soft Tissue Traumatic Injuries

Soft tissue injuries are directly related to the energy of the trauma and its repair is the main factor for bone healing and the recovery of the function of the affected limb. Photobiomodulation (PBM) is indicated as an adjuvant treatment to accelerate wound healing, however, there is still a lack of evidence regarding its effect on traumatic soft tissue injuries. This project aims to evaluate the effects of the application of PBM in the resolution of complex soft tissue injuries of traumatic origin associated with tibial fractures. 84 adult individuals, aged between 18 and 60 years, hospitalized with tibial fractures awaiting resolution of soft tissue injuries will be included to undergo definitive surgery. The subjects will be randomized in two groups: PBM (treated with a device with 144 LED emitting diodes at wavelengths of 420, 660 and 850nm, 3J per point for 10 minutes) and Sham (simulation of the LED application, with a device with characteristics identical to that of the PBM group, for the same period of time). Subjects will be treated daily until release for surgery. The primary outcome will be the assessment of the wound healing process using the BATES-JENSEN scale. Secondary outcomes will be: pain intensity; consumption of analgesic drugs; serum evolution of inflammatory markers C-reactive protein and creatine kinase, measurement of the lesion area, time needed for release for definitive surgery, presence of infection, and the cost-effectiveness of PBM. The evaluations will be carried out before the beginning of the intervention and daily until the participant is considered ready for surgery (which will be considered the end of the experimental period). Data will be analyzed statistically considering a significance level of 5%.

Magnetic Resonance Elastography in Patients With Acute Closed Traumatic Brain Injury

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health issue, and intracranial hypertension in the acute phase remains a critical scientific issue. Many patients with acute closed TBI received conservative, non-surgical treatments at first, while 5%~19% of which develops intractable intracranial hypertension that requires emergent surgery. Therefore, it is of great clinical significance to identify patients who are at high risk of deterioration in the early stage. Previous studies have found that brain compliance is a contributive factor to intracranial pressure, and might serve in the development of intracranial hypertension after TBI. We made assumption that intracranial pressure has a negative relationship with brain compliance providing that the volume of hematoma remains constant. However, few studies have applied magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) in evaluating brain compliance in patients with TBI. Therefore, this study is designed to enroll patients with acute closed traumatic brain injury who are initially treated non-surgically. Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) sequences are performed to non-invasively assess patients' brain compliances, in the hope of exploring the potential value of MRE biomarkers to predict the short-term outcome in patients with acute closed TBI who are initially receive non-surgical treatments.

Phage Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of Wound Infections in Burned Patients

The central aim of this trial is to investigate the safety and tolerability of Phage Cocktail-SPK as an adjunct to standard therapy for the prevention and treatment of burns susceptible to infection/or infected by S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, or K. pneumoniae species. It is hypothesized that no adverse events, clinical abnormalities, or changes in laboratory tests results related to the application of Phage Cocktail SPK Spray will be observed.

Hypnosis and Direct Autonomic Experience Influence on Chronic Symptoms

Study will look at a limited number of participants with various chronic symptoms. Investigating a new and novel form of hypnosis application called "Direct Autonomic Experience (DAX)" which is using combination of visualization, metaphor, post-hypnotic suggestion and anchoring. Purpose is to confirm that DAX generally appears to impact SUDS value and subjects report observed level of effect on short and longer term measurements. Most significantly, testing that DAX technique/action is reusable later if the measured SUDS value returns or increases.

Correlative Cohort Study on the Clinical Features and Prognosis of Drug-induced Liver Injury

This was a retrospective study of a clinical observational cohort. The patients were admitted and definitely diagnosed by liver biopsy as drug-induced liver injury from September 2014 to September 2019, in the Second Department of Liver Disease, Beijing Ditan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were enrolled, and these patients also met the RUCAM score and were clinically diagnosed as DILI. Baseline clinical data and follow-up biochemical data at 3, 6, and 12 months were collected. SPSS software was used to analyze the characteristics of clinical data and the dynamic changes of biochemical indicators. Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors associated with the chronicity of DILI. Bivariate Logistic regression model and ROC curve were used to obtain the clinical indicators for combined diagnosis of chronicity of DILI patients. Impact of Iron Stores on Wound Healing in Plastic Surgery

In breast reduction surgery, delayed wound healing may increase surgical site infections, cutaneous necrosis and may be related to psychological harm.Some risk factors have been identified : smoking, diabetes, overweight. A normal healing involve cellular and biochemical reactions in which iron plays an important role such as cellular respiration, redox reactions and regulation of genes involved in the cell cycle. This trial will study the relationship between iron stores and postoperative wound healing after bilateral breast reduction surgery in patients without preoperative anaemia.The primary outcome of this trial is the comparison of wound healing at post operative day 15, between patients with and without iron deficiency.

Neurogenic paraosteoarthropathies are peri-articular bone formations that may occur as a result of central neurological injury. Their occurrence limits reeducation and recovery capacities. Neurogenic paraosteoarthropathies sometimes cause complications (pain, joint stiffness, vascular and nerve compression, pressure sores) in patients already suffering from severe neurological sequelae affecting functional prognosis. A lot of clinical research work has been carried out within Dr Salga team. Subsequently, a collaboration was born with fundamental research teams (Pr Levesque, Pr Le Bousse Kerdilès, Pr Banzet, Pr Genêt) allowing translational work between humans and animals. The clinical application of recent research findings now makes it possible to launch the very first prospective study on neurogenic paraosteoarthropathies.
