NCT ID: NCT05323318 Recruiting - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

Neuropsychological Sequelae and Long COVID-19 Fatigue

PostCoV2Psy
Start date: April 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

An association of fatigue with post-viral neuropsychological disturbs has been reported. Among patients hospitalized with COVID-19 there is an increased incidence of anxiety and depression symptoms. In addition, a quarter of patients experience at least mild symptoms of acute post traumatic stress disorder. (Mazza, M. G. et al 2020). The prevalence of chronic fatigue syndrome had a correlation with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a study conducted after the outbreak of the COVID-19 in Iran (Silmani et al, 2021), that showed 5.8% of subjects suffering from PTSD after 6 months of SARS-CoV-2 infection onset. In this Study we propose to use a tool to quantify the degree of physical and psychological fatigue in post-COVID-19 patients, and assess the correlation of fatigue with the neuropsychiatric sequelae in hospitalized and non hospitalized patients.

Start date: April 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Multi-center observational study to assess the short-term response of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients initiated on Ozanimod with respect to fatigue. Patterns of brain changes on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that might modulate the effect of Ozanimod treatment on fatigue will also be assessed.

NCT ID: NCT05315739 Not yet recruiting - Fatigue Clinical Trials

Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Systemic Lupus Erythematous

SLE-VNS
Start date: May 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This trial uses a double blinded, randomized 1:1 (active:sham) placebo controlled, parallel group design, investigating the effects of transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The main objective is to evaluate whether adjuvant treatment with tVNS in SLE patients with signs of autonomic dysfunction and fatigue improves patient perceived levels of fatigue. Secondary outcomes include tVNS induced changes to: patient reported outcomes, autonomic nervous system function, SLE disease activity, immunologic profile, tolerability of pain and organ (cardiac, vascular and kidney) functions. Participants are randomized to received either active non-invasive transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) or inactive sham stimulation. The study period is divided in two periods. The first period investigates the effects of short-term, high-intensity tVNS treatment. The second phase investigates the effects of long-term, middle-intensity tVNS treatment.

NCT ID: NCT05310695 Recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

A Naturalistic Trial of the Norwegian Sickness Absence Clinic. The NSAC Efficacy Study

NSAC
Start date: January 16, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Norwegian Sickness Absence Clinic (NSAC) is a publicly funded specialist outpatient health service, which is uniquely available for the work force. The overall aim of the NSAC is prevention of sickness absence, promote return to work (RTW) among those on sickness absence and prevent long term disability benefit dependency. In addition to being a health service, the NSAC has a focus on work and functional recovery, including also non-health related factors. Patients can be referred by general practitioners for mental health problems and musculoskeletal problems. The NSAC has a lower threshold for severity than specialist health services generally, and in particular for mental health problems. The efficacy of this service is unknown. The NSAC Efficacy Study is a randomized controlled multicentre trial which aims to assess the effect of the NSAC service. "Helse i Arbeid" is the Norwegian name for NSAC, and the Norwegian abbreviation is "HiA". The Norwegian study name is HIANOR. The NSAC Efficacy Study involves five different NSACs across northern Norway, and will recruit 2500 patients, randomized to in equal proportions to three treatment arms: 1. NSAC - rapid: treatment at the NSAC at- or within 4 weeks 2. NSAC - ordinary: treatment at the NSAC after 10-14 weeks 3. NSAC - active control: monodisciplinary examination at the NSAC close to diagnosis-specific deadline for examination as suggested by guidelines (8-26 weeks, the majority at the end of this interval) The overall aim is to assess the effect of the NSAC service, with the hypothesis that the NSAC service is superior to what resembles treatment as usual (TAU) for outcomes such as return to work or improved health (waiting list control). Many of the diagnoses or problems for which patients are referred to the NSACs naturally improve regardless of health interventions, and - as of date - no research has been conducted to assess the efficacy of the service.

NCT ID: NCT05309603 Completed - Fatigue Clinical Trials

Alterations in Gait, Strength, and Power After Ruck Marching

SPARTAN
Start date: March 21, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine change in injury risk and performance variables in males and females after walking unloaded and carrying a load with two different distributions (high-pack placement and mid-pack placement) to identify differences in injury risk

NCT ID: NCT05309447 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

Effect of Muscle Fatigue on Spinal Imbalance and Motion in Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

MuscLSS
Start date: November 11, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study assesses spinal imbalance and motion in patients with sLSS and elicits fatigue via back exercises and compares spinal imbalance and motion before and after the fatigue exercise and compares these to healthy controls, allowing to associate sLSS-specific motion patterns to paraspinal muscle fatigue.

NCT ID: NCT05306015 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Application of Mindfulness Meditation Based on Brain Computer Interface in Radiofrequency Ablation

Start date: April 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In recent years, radiofrequency ablation has gradually become a first-line treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation. Radiofrequency ablation is an invasive procedure that lasts several hours, patients can experience varying degrees of discomfort and pain despite the use of analgesics. Mindfulness meditation requires the trainer to focus on breathing during the training process, while being non-critical and consciously observing various sensations on the body. It has a good effect in reducing pain, fatigue, negative emotions and strengthening coping with stressful events. With the rapid development of science and technology, meditation is no longer confined to traditional forms. The meditation method with the help of mobile communication technology and brain-computer interface technology can improve efficiency and convenience, and is more personalized. It has been recognized in many studies. The brain-computer interface is to establish a channel between the human brain and the computer that does not rely on conventional brain information output. Using techniques such as electroencephalogram, the spontaneous biopotential of the brain is amplified and recorded from the scalp. This study aims to explore the impact of mindfulness meditation with devices based on brain-computer interface technology on patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation. In order to improve the negative experience of patients during ablation, ensure the safety of patients during ablation, promote postoperative recovery, and increase satisfaction. The pain intensity, fatigue level, anxiety and depression of the meditation group and the control group were compared by the scale. Record relevant vital signs and adverse events. The investigators hypothesized that the pain, fatigue, anxiety and depression of the meditation group would be lower than those of the control group.
