Filter by:Athletes experience an exhaustive routine of training, associated with the reduced time of rest, facilitates the appearance of muscle fatigue, which increases the risk of muscle injuries, especially during the execution of the jump. Low Level Lasertherapy is a technique that has been increasingly improved due to the physiological effects it provides in the muscle recovery process. However, there is still a lack of studies focused on the use of this technique in functional improvement, especially in jumping sports. Objectives: To evaluate the immediate and short-term effects of low-level laser on the functional performance of lower limbs of jumping athletes and to evaluate the short-term effects of low-level laser on the activation of the gluteus medius and quadriceps muscles. Methods: This is a brief, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Will be recruited 24 handball and volleyball players aged between 18 to 35 years. The primary outcome of our study is functional performance (modified hop test and modified SEBT), and as a secondary outcome (level of electromyographic activity). After the baseline assessments, the athletes will be randomized and allocated into two groups: Intervention Group (IG, n=12) and Control Group (CG, n=12) and submitted to a fatigue protocol, followed by laser therapy or placebo.
The study is a randomised controlled trial that aims to evaluate whether carbohydrate loading pre-endoscopy can improve patients' overall satisfaction and is not associated with negative impact on endoscopic quality or increased complications. A questionnaire will be completed by participants prior to endoscopy.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-I) is a common treatment for insomnia that does not use medications. While CBT-I is effective for insomnia, it does not tend to improve the waking symptom of fatigue. Another treatment, Bright Light Therapy, is used for treating seasonal depression and sleep disorders, and may improve fatigue and physical activity in individuals with PAH. The purpose of this study to assess the effects of Bright Light Therapy compared to CBT-I to treat insomnia and fatigue in patients with PAH.

Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) and cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) are among the most commonly reported disabling symptoms experienced by patients with advanced cancer. The investigators will conduct a Vanguard Randomized Clinical Trial (RCT) to estimate the effect of modafinil in managing CRF and CRCI, and to test the feasibility of carrying out the study.
Many studies have related the presence of dynamic valgus with several musculoskeletal injuries of the hip, knee and ankle. The weakness of the hip abductors is cited as one of the factors linked to this poor dynamic alignment of the lower limb, however, motor control can also be one of the factors responsible for the poor alignment of the lower limbs.
Fatigue is a common condition after an individual has a stroke. While the negative impacts of post-stroke fatigue are well known, the knowledge of the causes of post-stroke fatigue and effective treatments for post-stroke fatigue are lacking. This small study will investigate the possible benefits of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), which uses small electrical currents supplied by a 9-volt battery, on post-stroke fatigue and investigate tDCS' possible anti-inflammatory effects.
The purpose of this small preliminary study is to gather preliminary data to support a large randomized controlled trial of a fatigue reduction diet intervention among diffuse-large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) survivors. This study will provide nutritional counseling to 10 adult patients (18 years or older) with DLBCL who have completed their upfront chemotherapy treatment and remained in remission for 2 years prior to enrollment. The study will employ individualized dietary counseling, provided by a registered dietitian (RD), by phone or video teleconferencing in 8 sessions over 3 months. Dietary intake and fatigue will be assessed at baseline and 3 months. The objective of the study is to determine feasibility of the intervention and adherence to the fatigue reduction diet. Data obtained from this preliminary study would be used to support a well-powered future randomized trial of FRD vs regular diet in survivors of DLBCL.
The purpose of the study is to determine physical and mental health issues of U.S. embryologists related to their occupational characteristics, and how workplace fatigue and burnout may affect their quality of life, cynicism, interactions with patients, attention to detail, and lead to human error, the cause of the most severe IVF incidents that often make headlines and result in costly litigation. It will also correlate how the current manual workflows contribute to these health issues, and what measures can be taken to improve both working conditions and embryologists' health, and, therefore, improve patient care.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate differences in neuroimmunoendocrine response and quality of live in patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, with or without a co-diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
