Filter by:The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) can impact muscle fatigue. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does tDCS of the left DLPFC increase the time that a fatiguing contraction can be maintained? 2. Does tDCS of the left DLPFC decrease the rate of increase of muscle activity, force error, and standard deviation of force during a fatiguing contraction. Researchers will compare tDCS of the left DLPFC to a SHAM stimulation (a type of stimulation that feels like real tDCS but does not elicit physiological effects) to see if tDCS of the left DLPFC works to reduce the progression of muscle fatigue. Participants will: Performing two experimental sessions held 3-10 days apart (usually 7 days) Perform a 9 hole pegboard test, maximum voluntary contractions, and a fatiguing contraction.
This study adopted an experimental research design to explore the effects of a warm water foot bath program on fatigue, sleep, and heart rate variability in patients with heart failure. The subjects of the study were heart failure patients in the cardiology outpatient department. The patients were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. The control group received routine care and wore an actigraph. The experimental group received 4 additional care in addition to routine care and wearing an actigraph. Weekly warm water foot bath, data collection includes subjective sleep quality and fatigue level, physiological measurements: sleep quality-sleep time and efficiency, and heart rate variability index.
This randomized controlled trial was designed to examine the effect of hand massage on the level of fatigue in patients receiving BT therapy. Randomized controlled trial was conducted in the radioterapi outpatient clinic of university hospital located in a large city in Turkey. When 12 patients were included in each group, it was determined that the power was 90% at the 5% Type I error level, and a total of 24 women with gynecological cancer were included in the study. The primary outcome of this study was the mean difference in fatigue scores between the groups following the three brachtherapy cycles hand intervention. Patient Information Form and Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) used. This study predicted that hand massage applied in each session, starting from the first session of brachytherapy application, would reduce the level of fatigue in women.
Summary Introduction: Prolonged standing brings with it various health problems such as extremity pain, fatigue, cardiovascular abnormalities. According to the Ergonomic Tool 4 guideline of the Perioperative Registered Nurses Association (AORN); If a staff member has to stand for more than two hours, stand in the same position for more than 30% of the working day or while wearing a lead apron, ergonomic intervention and alternative methods are recommended. Purpose: The aim of this thesis study is to examine the effects of anti-fatigue mat use and footbath on fatigue and lower extremity pain among operating room nurses. Method: This study, which was designed as a pretest posttest single-group quasi-experimental type, will be carried out with 27 nurses working in the operating room department between September 2022 and June 2023 at Bartın State Hospital, Bartın Gynecology and Childhood Diseases Hospital and Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Health Practice and Research Center. Introductory Information Form, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Visual Similarity Scale for Fatigue (VAS-F), Lower Leg Circumference Monitoring Form, Lower Extremity Edema Monitoring Form, Anti-Fatigue Mat, Materials for Foot Bath will be used in data collection. During the data collection process, the basic measurements of the operating room nurses will be made and then the measurements will be repeated using an anti-fatigue mat. The collection of data will be interrupted for 1 month, and basic measurements will be taken again and the nurses will be provided with a foot bath. After the footbath applications, the measurements will be repeated and recorded. Data will be saved in SPSS 22.0 Program. In the evaluation of the data obtained, tests evaluating the normal distribution of the data will be used as well as descriptive statistical methods. According to the normal distribution of the data, the data will be analyzed with parametric or nonparametric tests. Conclusion: At the end of the study, it is expected that there will be significant differences between the two applications in terms of fatigue, pain in the lower extremities and edema, and it will be beneficial. There are very few studies on the use of mats and foot baths in operating room nurses. There is no study evaluating the combined effect of both. It will be an example for the literature and future studies.

There is no approved treatment for fatigue in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), a condition with as many as 2.5 million people in the US. Initial case studies have shown an improvement in fatigue in ME/CFS with anhydrous enol-oxaloacetate (AEO). This randomized, double blinded, placebo controlled trial will seek to further evaluate the efficacy of AEO to reduce fatigue in ME/CFS, based on change in the Chalder Fatigue Score (Likert Scoring) of the AEO group against the placebo group at 90 days. As secondary evaluations on other core ME/CFS symptoms, the investigators are measuring the health related quality of life as assessed by the SF-36, hours of upright activity, functional capacity (activity, steps, cognition, and heart rate variability), and general health status (global change, vitals) Finally, this test will gain preliminary insights on the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of AEO in ME/CFS patients.
Fatigue is a common feature in patients with rheumatic conditions. Fatigue can lead to a decline in physical function, self-confidence, cognitive status, and work performance and significantly impact the quality of life. While pain and inflammation of arthritis can be well controlled nowadays attributed to the advances in anti-rheumatic medications, fatigue remains a challenge. Even with proper therapies for arthritis, the prevalence of severe fatigue is more than 30%, which is a significant burden to both physicians and patients. However, there is no regimen to alleviate fatigue among patients with inflammatory arthritis. Finding a way to combat fatigue will significantly help improve patients' physical and mental state and family society. To investigate the efficacy of Jing Si Herbal Tea Liquid Packets on fatigue in patients with inflammatory arthritis, the investigators propose a two-year research project to recruit approximately 150 patients with fatigue and inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriatic arthritis. This project is designed as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The recruited patients will be randomized to receive Jing Si Herbal Tea Liquid Packets or a matching placebo in combination with the background regular anti-rheumatic therapy. The severity of fatigue will be obtained by questionnaire. Clinical parameters, including demographic data and disease activities, will be collected during each visit.
The aim of our study is to compare the effects of foam roller plus dynamic stretching and kinesiotape plus dynamic stretching on performance parameters,pain and fatigue in football players. The results of our study will show the effects of the best choice between applications and help to reduce waste of time.
With increasing awareness about physician fatigue and its effect on patient safety, residency programs are increasingly transitioning to a night float call system. In other industries, multiple night shifts in a row can cause a disruption in the circadian rhythm, sleep debt, shift work disorder, that is related to chronic medical conditions such as obesity and cardiovascular disease. We will evaluate the effect of different call structures on resident activity, sleep and self reported measures of wellness using a commercially available Fitbit device.
