Filter by:The objective of this study is to test the efficacy of a Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) adapted for use with victims of terrorism in Spain who are diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depressive disorder and/or anxiety disorders subsequent to direct or indirect exposure to a series of terrorist attacks that occurred 20 years prior to treatment on average. Spanish victims who meet the criteria for long-term posttraumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, and/or anxiety disorders related to direct or indirect exposure to terrorist attacks that occurred 20 years ago, on average, will be randomly assigned to 16 weekly sessions of TF-CBT (experimental group) or waiting list control (control group) conditions. Between groups comparisons related to diagnostic rates and posttraumatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms will be made immediately after the intervention. Pre- follow-up comparisons related to diagnostic rates and posttraumatic, depressive, and anxiety symptoms will be carried out for the experimental group. It is hypothesised that participants receiving TF-CBT will have significantly lower diagnostic rates and mean levels of posttraumatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms than the control group immediately after the intervention, and that they will experience significant pre-treatment to 6-month follow-up decreases in diagnostic rates and in posttraumatic, depressive and anxiety symptoms.
Implementation and evaluation of video consultation in psychiatric outpatient treatment. The study will focus on patients' experiences regarding the use of VC. The study will also examine important aspects of the telepsychiatric consultation such as therapeutic alliance, consultation content, psychopathology and satisfaction levels compared to face-to-face consultations.
Our study aims to evaluate the role of depression in blood pressure control in ambulatory hypertensive patients.
Individuals with stroke commonly experience both depression and cognitive difficulties. The goal of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a treatment that combines a digital therapeutic (an iPad-based cognitive training program) with learning cognitive strategies. The hypotheses are that this treatment will improve cognitive skills, depression symptoms, daily function, and brain connectivity. In the short-term, the findings will inform the efficacy of the intervention and in the long-term, may support the use of the intervention to improve co-occurring cognitive and mood difficulties after stroke.
There are many common pharmacological treatments for major depression disorder (MDD), however the efficacy of these drugs often fails in severe cases. Intravenous (IV) administered ketamine may offer the potential for remission of the symptoms in patients with MDD; however it has not yet been approved by FDA for this purpose. This study will make use of an electroencephalography (EEG) machine to measure the brain's activity and response while the IV ketamine is being delivered. The objective of this study is to characterize the change in EEG response of patients with MDD, during and 4 weeks after a course of IV ketamine infusions.
The purpose of this study is to use fMRI to evaluate the effects of brexpiprazole as add-on therapy to antidepressants on brain connectivity in individuals with MDD and symptoms of anxiety, aged 18 to 65.
Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a highly prevalent psychiatric condition associated with significant disability, mortality and economic burden. A large proportion of MDD patients are treated in primary health care (PHC) in the municipalities and represent a challenging group. Attentional Bias Modification (ABM) training in combination with antidepressants (SSRIs) could be an effective treatment. The overall aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that adding an ABM procedure to regular treatment with antidepressants in PHC will result in further improvement of symptoms compared to treatment with antidepressants alone (treatment as usual, TAU) and as compared to an active comparison condition. Methods: A total of 246 patients with a diagnosis of MDD will be included in this study. The study is a three-armed pragmatic randomized controlled trial comparing the efficacy of ABM as add-on to treatment with antidepressants in primary care (ABM condition) compared to standard antidepressant treatment (TAU condition). In a third group participants will complete the same schedule of intermediate assessments as the ABM condition in addition to TAU , but no ABM, thus controlling for the non-training-specific aspects of the ABM condition (SSRI Active comparison group). Discussion: The clinical outcome of this study may help develop easy accessible, low cost treatment of depression in PHC. Moreover, the study aims to broaden our knowledge of optimal treatment for patients with a MDD by providing adjunct treatment to facilitate recovery and long term gain
Despite experiencing higher rates of depressive symptoms (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020) and similar rates of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD; Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 2019), Latino adolescents in the U.S. are significantly less likely than their non-Latino White peers to receive treatment for MDD (SAMHSA, 2019). The purpose of this study is to identify a stakeholder-preferred implementation strategy that may improve psychotherapy attendance among Latino adolescents. Latino adolescent-parent dyads and healthcare providers will be recruited from healthcare settings and social media. Focus groups will be conducted with healthcare providers (n=5), and individual interviews will be conducted with Latino adolescents with a diagnosis of depression (n=15) and their parents (n=15).
Depression is a kind of mental illness with high incidence, high recurrence and high disability. But so far, treatment remission rates for depression remain low. Therefore, it is necessary to develop more new treatments. Light therapy has been shown to be effective in treating depression with seasonal patterns. Although most studies have reported that light therapy is also effective in patients with depression without seasonal patterns, high-quality clinical studies are still rare and the conclusions are still controversial. In particular, it remains unclear whether light therapy is effective in treating depression without seasonal patterns in the Chinese population. In addition, there is a lack of biomarkers that predict the efficacy of light therapy. In conclusion, this study intends to conduct an ADD-ON randomized controlled study to clarify the efficacy and safety of light therapy as synergistic therapy in patients with depression without seasonal patterns, and to screen peripheral biomarkers related to efficacy using transcriptome sequencing technology. It is expected that this study can confirm the effectiveness and safety of light therapy as synergistic therapy, provide an evidence-based basis for the research and exploration of light therapy in Chinese depression population, and provide more options for the synergistic treatment of antidepressants in Chinese depression population.
Adolescents with mood disorders experiencing major depressive episode have poor efficacy of medication treatment. High-Definition Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (HD-tDCS) has been proven adjuvant efficacy in patients with major depressive episode. However, the optimal evidence-based stimulation parameters have not been clearly defined, which greatly limits the efficacy of HD-tDCS in the treatment of major depressive episode.This trial will compare a novel form of accurate and personalized HD-tDCS treatment protocol guided by neuroimaging biomarkers to the routine stimulation(stimulation target is L-DLPFC, central electrode is anode).The personalized selection of stimulation site, central electrode polarity will be determined by neuroimaging biomarkers. The study aims to propose a novel personalized neuroimaging-guided HD-tDCS strategy, to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment, further to understand the biological mechanism of the personalized HD-tDCS treatment.
