Digital Care Chains in Health Care - a Study of Care Consumption, Care Quality, Work Environment and Well-being

Start date: January 17, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Digital healthcare has developed rapidly to meet demands for accessible healthcare, streamline care and meet future challenges with increasing healthcare needs and reduced labour force in Sweden. Developers and stakeholders in Sweden want to exchange the praxis of phone triage to digital or semi-digital triaging tools, to relieve staff's workload and utilize better resource use that would benefit all patient groups. However, previous studies have showed demographic differences in utilization rate and an increase of simpler care matters when digital healthcare options are offered. Also, little is known of medical accuracy of digital triage tools and of the work environment in digital healthcare. More research is needed on this, as well as on care consumption, care quality and of patients' experiences of digital healthcare. The overall aim of the research project is to study a new digital healthcare platform being introduced in 2021/2022 in the County of Gävleborg, Sweden. The studies will focus on care consumption, healthcare outcomes, care quality and patient safety as well as explore the digital work environment in the digital healthcare platform. Data will be collected before and after the introduction of the digital healthcare platform, using register data and questionnaires. The data from the two time periods will be analyzed with descriptive and inference statistics, to explore if the digital healthcare platform has brought differences on group levels in care consumption, healthcare outcomes, care quality and patient safety as well as in work environment aspects such as the staffs' well-being.

NCT ID: NCT05205915 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

Home-based Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) for Major Depressive Disorders (MDD)

Start date: February 2, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is an open label pilot feasibility telemedicine study. This pilot will involve a total of 37 at-home stimulation sessions (30-minutes each) of multichannel excitatory tDCS targeting the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) administered over 8 weeks, with a follow-up period of 4 weeks following the final stimulation session.

NCT ID: NCT05196152 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Postpartum Depression

MomMoodBooster VA Program

Perinatal MMB
Start date: March 3, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The MomMoodBooster intervention is an empirically validated treatment for postpartum depression symptoms. The intervention was created by Brian Danaher and Milagra Tyler, who have continued to update the intervention technology and content. The intervention is now available for pregnant and postpartum Veterans, and it is accessible on browsers via computer, tablet, or mobile phone. The intervention contains six cognitive-behavioral modules that span six weeks, and it includes identification of pleasant activities, tracking mood and thoughts, and identification of goals. The current trial is an expansion of a nationwide service delivery project that has been ongoing for six years with the goal of offering the intervention to postpartum Veterans nationwide. Within that study, Veterans completed the online modules in concert with weekly phone coaching calls wherein coaches applied the content to the Veteran's current life. In addition, two booster modules and associated coaching calls were developed to continue application of the skills beyond the six-week intervention period. The present study seeks to investigate the incremental utility of the phone coaching component of the intervention by randomizing pregnant and postpartum Veterans to the MomMoodBooster intervention or the MomMoodBooster intervention plus phone coaching. Primary outcomes will include depressive symptoms, behavioral activation, and negative automatic thoughts.

Acceptability and Feasibility of an 8-week Online Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Program Among Undergraduate Students

Start date: September 23, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Mental health problems -particularly depression- are the main cause of morbidity in young people (1), which has a known association with different health and social problems, such as increased alcohol consumption and drug dependence, adolescent pregnancy, school dropouts , criminal behavior, self-harm, and even suicide (2-4). MBCT is an intervention that has been shown to reduce depression, stress and anxiety in the adult and university population; however, its duration and time demands make it difficult to implement. The available evidence of mindfulness interventions in university students is heterogeneous, with various methodological flaws, and is based on self-applied programs such as Mindful Mood Balance (MMB), without the participation of instructors. The current study aim to explore the acceptability and feasibility of an intervention based on a Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) program with training in mindfulness strategies for 8 weeks. The adapted MBCT intervention will consist of eight weekly group sessions of 1 hour and 30 minutes, led by a certified instructor, to address the depressive and anxiety symptoms in the university population. In addition, the intervention will be complemented with the inclusion of audiovisual material, aimed at guiding self-applied daily exercises.

To Evaluate the Effectiveness of a Virtual and Telephone Intervention for the Prevention of Postpartum Depression in Women at Risk

Start date: November 9, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Women's perinatal mental health problems can create a cascade of short- and long-term negative influences for the mother, child, and the family as a whole. To prevent these impacts, preventive online and telephone interventions exist, but need to be tested and improved to develop this type of support to women in Quebec. The Parents & Babies program, which is a distance learning course, followed during pregnancy and accompanied by telephone follow-up, aims to improve the mental health of future parents. The investigators seek to evaluate the effect of the intervention of the Parents & Babies program offered with telephone support compared to the course offered without telephone follow-up.
