There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The aim of the project is to develop the first alpha-synuclein (a-syn)-specific PET tracer. The research phase will exploit ACI's proprietary MorphomerTM library and extensively optimized screening workflow. Promising PET-tracer candidates will be tested for their ability in detecting a-syn pathology in patients with a range of Parkinsonian conditions with different a-syn levels and distributions, comprising hereditary forms of PD and other synucleinopathies.
Overall project aim: to develop, evaluate, and implement a digital behavioural health treatment to improve well-being in individuals with chronic pain. The treatment will be integrated into the nationally available 1177 web-platform, which will facilitate long-term use in clinical practice across Sweden. Within the project, the investigators will develop the digital treatment and match it to patients' needs using focus groups; pilot the treatment to evaluate its feasibility and acceptability, preliminary efficacy, and individual change processes using the single case experimental design (SCED) method; conduct a two-armed randomized controlled trial enhanced with SCED to assess the clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and maintenance of change of the treatment compared to treatment as usual; and monitor the implementation process of the treatment through a business model and stakeholder interviews.
The prevalence of elder abuse has been reported between 10-15% in international studies. Elder abuse may include both physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse as well as neglect and it occurs at the hand of both professionals and family members, including adult children and intimate partners. Elder abuse has been associated with psychological ill-health, disability, increased hospitalization, emergency department use and admission to nursing facilities. Elder abuse is however often unknown to health care providers. Older adults are hesitant to disclose abuse and health care providers are often reluctant to ask questions. In this study an interactive educational model for health care professionals about elder abuse will be tested. The model consist of theoretical lectures, brief films showing patient encounters, group discussions and forum play, a form of participatory theater. Both group discussions and forum play will be using case scenarios as a cornerstone. The validated questionnaire REAGERA-P will be used for self-reported measures
The overall purpose with this investigation was to increase access to cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) by examining CBT-I delivered through a smartphone application The first aim that will be addressed is to explore the efficacy of the smartphone delivered CBT-I on overall insomnia and on nighttime symptoms by comparing CBT-I to a waitlist control in a randomised controlled trial. The second aim is to investigate the effect smartphone delivered CBT-I compared to the waitlist on secondary outcomes related to insomnia, such as stress, anxiety, depression, quality of life and functional impairment. The third aim that will be addressed is to examine what patient characteristics that CBT delivered to a smartphone depend on to be effective with a treatment-moderator strategy. To investigate moderators, the following moderators will be assessed; age, gender, occupational status, level of education, initial insomnia severity, dysfunction, medication use, chronic pain, somatic/psychiatric co-morbidity, and proposed behavioral mediators of sleep restriction and stimulus control will also be employed as moderators. The fourth aim that will be addressed is to examine behavioural processes of sleep restriction and stimulus control as potential mediators of treatment outcome.
This study will look at participants body weight from the start to the end of the study. It will also look at how much pain participants have in participants knee from the start to the end of the study and how this affects participants daily life. This is to compare the effect on body weight and pain in the knee in people taking semaglutide with people taking "dummy" medicine. Participants will either get semaglutide or "dummy" medicine. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will need to take 1 injection once a week. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in a skin fold in the stomach, thigh or upper arm. During the study, participants will have talks with study staff about how to eat healthy food and how to be more physically active. The study will last for about 1 ½ years. Participants will have 14 clinic visits with the study staff. At the first clinic visit participants will have a blood sample taken. Participants will have an X-ray of participants knee taken at the first visit. If participants have had an X-ray recently, this may not be needed. At 6 of the clinic visits participants cannot take pain medications for 3 days before the visit. Participants cannot take part if participants have had a joint replacement surgery in participants knee. Participants cannot take part if participants have or have had diabetes. Women: Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period.
Regular exercise has been shown to have beneficial health effects in cancer survivors, including improving quality of life and other important health outcomes. However, providing people with cancer with easily accessible, high-quality exercise support and programs is a challenge. Therefore, there is a need to develop easily accessible exercise programs that draw upon the current evidence. Supervised, distance-based exercise programs have the benefit of reaching out to many people while providing the support of an exercise professional. The aim of the EX-MED Cancer Sweden trial is to examine the effectiveness of a supervised, distance-based exercise program, in people previously treated for breast, prostate, or colorectal cancer, on health-related quality of life (HRQoL), as well as other physiological and patient-reported health outcomes. Participants will be randomized to a 3-month supervised, distance-based exercise program or to a usual care control group. Testing timepoints are baseline, 3 months (end of intervention) and 6 months (3 month followup). At these timepoints, patients will be asked to fill in online questionaires, and and undergo physical tests. A selection of the particpants and personal trainers involved in the intervention will also be invited to participate in focus group discussion or interviews about the experiences of being involved in the EX-MED Cancer Sweden program.
This second feasibility study aims to adapt a protocol usually run in the laboratory in the Psychology Department for healthy participants (including the trauma film paradigm (James et al., 2016) and a simple cognitive task intervention) to remote (online) delivery. The motivation for this was restrictions to running in person laboratory experiments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Non-clinical participants will view film footage with COVID-19 related and potentially traumatic content (e.g. of seriously ill or dying patients in hospitals). Following film viewing, participants will be randomly allocated to either the experimental condition (simple cognitive task intervention, i.e. a memory cue followed by playing the computer game "Tetris" with mental rotation instructions) or the control condition (attention placebo, i.e., a memory cue followed by listening to a podcast for a similar duration). Any intrusive memories induced by the film (analogue trauma) will be monitored in a daily diary. It is predicted that the film (analogue trauma) will generate intrusive memories. If intrusive memories are generated, then it is predicted that participants in the experimental condition will report fewer intrusive memories related to the film (analogue trauma) during the following week than participants in the control condition. The development of this paradigm may inform the future development of a simple technique to prevent intrusive memories e.g. after repeated media consumption related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mortality within one year after intensive care unit (ICU) admission with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will be assessed. Risk and risk factors for one year mortality in ICU patients will be compared to patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 and general population controls. The ICU population comprises all Swedish ICU patients with COVID-19 with at lease one year of follow up. The hospital admitted cohort comprises four hospital admitted patients with COVID-19 per ICU patient, matched on age, legal gender and region. The general population controls are matched to the ICU patients in a one to four fashion on age, legal gender and region. ICU patients are identified in the Swedish intensive care registry. The hospital admitted patients are identified in the national patient registry and the population controls are identified in the population registry. Data on socioeconomics and income are provided by the Statistics Sweden. Data on comorbidity, medications and death are provided from the National board of health and welfare.
The purpose of the study is to evalute the efficacy, safety and tolerability of rozanolixizumab for treatment of adult participants with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disease (MOG-AD).
This is a multicenter, open-label, fixed dose, 26 week study of patients with MDD. Eligible patients from the lead-in studies will enter the Open-label Safety Study at the Screening/Baseline Visit (Visit 1/Day 1), at which point patient eligibility will be assessed and informed consent obtained.
