There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Phase IV, retrospective, single-center, clinical trial, chart review to evaluate the safety and efficacy of poly-L-l-lactic acid [PLLA-SCA, Sculptra®] in women who underwent at least one treatment for skin flaccidity of the labia majora and/or pubis region for safety evaluation and three treatment sessions for efficacy evaluation.
Evaluate the effect of the use of elastic tape in chest wall and abdomen in the physical capacity, psychosocial distress levels, quality of life and anxiety, and depression symptoms of individuals with moderate to very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) undergoing pulmonary rehabilitation.
Gait changes appear and become the main cause of disability, loss of independence, falls, fractures and reduced quality of life for patients with Parkinson Disease. Optimal gait management is complex and challenging. Some characteristics, such as gait variability, postural instability, and postural changes, continue to worsen over time despite optimal dopaminergic treatment, suggesting that additional interventions are needed. Given the physiology of gait and postural control in humans, spinal cord stimulation is a potential target for neuromodulatory approaches to gait and postural disorders. Repetitive transspinal magnetic stimulation ( rTSMS) has attracted a lot of attention, due to the possibility of modulating motor and sensory networks in a non-invasive way, activating directly the dorsal ascending pathways and projecting to the thalamic nuclei, cerebral cortex, and brainstem nuclei, thus stimulating descending motor tracts and interrupting aberrant oscillatory activity in corticobasal nuclei circuits. The combination of non-invasive neuromodulation with other therapies can enhance the effectiveness of rehabilitation, increasing plasticity and clinical efficacy, offering a greater and more sustained effect than either therapy alone. It's recommended that patients with PD perform a specific exercise for walking, such as treadmill training (tt), that imposes an external rhythm and concentration of attention on gait, acting as an external cue or marker, promoting a more stable gait, reducing gait variability and decreasing risk of falls. It is proposed, in this study, to develop a new treatment model through the integration of two promising and complementary approaches to improve gait disorders in PD: rTSMS and tt. Thus, the investigators idealized the realization of the first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel, phase III clinical trial that will evaluate the efficacy of tt associated with rTSMS in patients with PD.
This prospective, international, multicenter observational study will include hospitals performing pediatric surgery in participating Latin American countries. We aim to assess the incidence of hospital postoperative complications in pediatric surgical patients < 18-years-old in Latin America. We will recruit all consecutive pediatric patients under the age of 18 years who were admitted to participating hospitals undergoing elective and nonelective surgery. The primary outcome is in-hospital postoperative complications up to 30 days after surgery.
Background: The Fontan operation has been used to treat complex cardiac anomalies with a single-functioning ventricle. A study performed by Instituto do Coracão-Hospital das Clínicas-Universidade de Sao Paulo (InCor/HCFMUSP)-Brazil, Hospital das Clínicas of Ribeirão Preto-Brazil, department of the University of Aarhus, and Rigshospitalet, Denmark demonstrated an impairment peripheral lymphatic function in Fontan patients compared with healthy controls. However, the ability to increase the frequency of contractions is impaired when stressed by hyperthermia. Lymph vessels in Fontan patients were unable to respond usually. The participants were only able to increase the frequency of contraction twice during stress, compared to a five-fold increase among healthy controls. At the microcirculation level, Fontan patients filtered less fluid into the capillaries interstitial space than healthy controls at venous occlusion pressure. Studies carried out at InCor/HCFMUSP demonstrated that supervised aerobic exercise training improves the functional capacity and neurovascular control in Fontan patients compared to the non-training control group. However, the effect of aerobic exercise and light muscle resistance performed through online rehabilitation has not yet been demonstrated in peripheral lymphatic function and microcirculation. Aim: Evaluate the effects of an aerobic and light muscle resistance exercise program on peripheral lymphatic function, capillary filtration, functional capacity, and quality of life in adults with Fontan circulation. Methods: The function of the superficial lymphatic vessels in the lower leg will be investigated during rest in supine and standing positions, using near-infrared fluorescence imaging using Indocyanine Green (ICG; Verdye, Diagnostic Green GmbH, Germany). The variables analyzed are contraction frequency (contraction/minute), pumping Pressure (mmHg), and packet velocity. Venous congestion plethysmography will perform to analyze the capillary filtration and cardiopulmonary exercise test for functional capacity. The quality of life will be evaluated using the SF-36 Short-Form questionnaire. Expected results: the physical training improves peripheral lymphatic function, capillary filtration, functional capacity, and quality of life in patients with biventricular compared to the control group (no exercise training)
Gum disease require a lifetime supportive periodontal care aiming at preventing additional inflammation and bone resorption. During this phase it is also relevant to keep germs under acceptable levels through proper daily hygiene although patient's cooperation tends to decrease over time. There are conflicting opinions regarding combination of dental scaling with antibiotics. This is why the present study was designed to evaluate the clinical and microbiological effects of combined therapy 1 year following supportive periodontal care. Fifty patients who voluntarily decide to participate will receive dental scaling associated with two different antibiotics or placebo capsules. Paper points will be used to collect dental plaque samples and levels of bacteria will be determined. Dental specialists will also perform clinical examinations. Patients would be available for 4 dental appointments: prior to and 3, 6 and 12 months after dental scaling.
The purpose of this study is to learn if V940 which is an individualized neoantigen therapy (INT; formerly, called messenger ribonucleic acid [mRNA]-4157) with pembrolizumab (MK-3475) is safe and prevents cancer from returning in people with high-risk melanoma. Researchers want to know if V940 with pembrolizumab is better than receiving pembrolizumab alone at preventing the cancer from returning.
The investigators will study the Ileal interposition to the treatment of weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, assessing weight loss, body composition, quality of life, metabolic biomarkers, inflammatory biomarkers, and incretin hormones
Nutritional status is a measurable and modifiable factor that is often not considered during treatment and its clinical impact undervalued due in part to the heavy demands on clinicians in low and middle income countries to deliver therapy to large numbers of patients. The proposed study will create a biobank of clinical data and biological specimens which will foster future studies on cancer progression and prognosis as well as toxicities during treatment which may impact survivorship and late-effects. Eligible patients must be between 3 years and 18 years of age at time of assent/consent, have newly diagnosed B- or T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia or mixed phenotype acute leukemia confirmed by pathology report, and must be receiving treatment at one of the participating centers. Patients receiving hematopoietic cell transplant will be excluded. Institutions were selected to ensure representation of several global health indicators related to nutritional status and wealth classification according to the World Bank. Data related to demographic variables (socioeconomic status, food security), lifestyle habits (diet, physical activity), nutritional anthropometrics (height, weight and arm anthropometry), and nutritional biological indices (stool and blood) will be collected at designated timepoints throughout treatment and one year after the end of treatment.
The purpose of this study is to is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of retatrutide in participants with type 2 diabetes in participants who have obesity or overweight (J1I-MC-GZBK master protocol) including a subset of participants who have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) (J1I-MC-GSA2). The study will last about 89 weeks and will include up to 24 visits.
