A Study in Adults With Advanced Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cHL) in Brazil Treated With Brentuximab Vedotin Together With Chemotherapy Compared to Chemotherapy Alone

The main aim of this study conducted in Brazil is to understand if there is a difference in the length of time that Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cHL) does not grow or spread further (also called progression free survival or PFS), and in the length of time that participants live with cHL if they are treated with Brentuximab Vedotin in combination with chemotherapy (A+AVD) or chemotherapy alone (ABVD). A+AVD includes Brentuximab Vedotin + Doxorubicin + Vinblastine + Dacarbazine; ABVD includes Doxorubicin + Bleomycin + Vinblastine + Dacarbazine. The study will be conducted by reviewing and collecting already existing medical records.

Research Study to Compare Semaglutide Tablets With Empagliflozin or Metformin Tablets in People With Type 2 Diabetes

This study compares the medicines semaglutide with empagliflozin or metformin in people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. This study will look mainly at how well participant's blood sugar and body weight are controlled when they are taking the study medicines. Participants will either get semaglutide tablets, empagliflozin tablets or metformin tablets. Which treatment participants will get is decided by chance. Currently, doses of 3 milligram (mg), 7 mg and 14 mg semaglutide tablets (Rybelsus) can be prescribed in some countries. 25 mg and 50 mg semaglutide tablets are new doses. 10 mg and 25 mg empagliflozin tablets (Jardiance) can be prescribed in some countries. 500 mg metformin tablets (STADA) can be prescribed in some countries. Participants will get 1 to 4 tablets per day for 104 weeks. The study will last for about 2 years and 7 weeks (111 weeks). Participants should not have been treated for weight management 90 days before screening or never been treated with any medicine for type 2 diabetes (except diabetes during pregnancy) before screening. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to get pregnant during the study period.

Fixed-dose Combination of Etoricoxib + Cyclobenzaprine for Pain Relief After Third Molar Extraction in Brazil

Etoricoxib and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride are active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) already registered in the country as mono-drugs. These products are widely used for the proposed indications, and their safety and efficacy profiles are known in daily clinical practice. Once the absence of a pharmacokinetic interaction between etoricoxib and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride has been confirmed in relative bioavailability studies, this phase 3 study will be conducted for demonstrating the superiority of the new FDC over etoricoxib 90 mg (Arcoxia®) and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride 15 mg (XL - Mitrul®) in the treatment of moderate to serious pain associated with muscle spasm. The purpose is to provide a new, effective, and safe therapeutic option to address these cases. SIG-005-121 is a FIH, Phase 1/2, multi-centre, open-label, sequential dose-escalating study to assess the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of SIG-005 in adults with MPS-1. The study will evaluate up to three ascending dose levels of SIG-005 in male and female patients with attenuated MPS-1 (Scheie or Hurler-Scheie), 18 years of age or greater, who received Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) for a minimum of 12 months prior to the study entry. Each cohort will include 3 patients.

The Use of Photobiomodulation in the Management of Radiodermatitis in Patients in Palliative Care. A Prospective Study.

It is estimated that there will be 670,000 new cases of cancer worldwide in 2020-2022 and it is known that the most commonly instituted treatments in cancer are chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. However, these treatments have undesirable side effects, such as Radiodermatitis after Radiotherapy (RD). In fact, the prevalence of possible side effects after radiotherapy is estimated to be 80 to 90%. Radiotherapy complications are associated with a negative impact on patients' quality of life and few supportive measures are available for such complications. Thus, the management of these side effects has been studied in the literature until the present day. On the other hand, Photobiomodulation (PBM) has an important role in wound repair and tissue regeneration, as it influences the different phases of lesion resolution, including the inflammatory phase, the proliferative phase and the remodeling phase. Thus, the aim of this study is to report a case series of Cancer Patients diagnosed with radiotherapy-induced acute radiodermatitis on Palliative Care, treated with PBM. This is a case series report and the study data will be extracted from the medical records of forty cancer patients with grade 2 or 3 RD followed up from September 2023 at the Laser Therapy Outpatient Clinic in a Universitary Hospital. The outcomes are the size of the lesion, the presence of pain assessed by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), the Portuguese Version of WHOQOL BREF Scale and the RTOG Scale (Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Scale) to assess the degree of Radiodermatitis before and after PBM therapy. The data will be subjected to a statistical analysis and will be discussed. Data with positive or negative results will be reported.

BCG Re-vaccination for Primary Tuberculosis Prophylaxis in the Prison Population

In the last decade, the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) has declined in much of the world, but has increased in Central and South America. Since 2000, the prison population in these localizations has grown by 206%, the highest increase in the world. In the same period, the reported cases of TB among the prison population (PP) increased by 269%. The extraordinarily high risk of acquiring TB within prisons creates a health and human rights crisis for PP that also undermines broader TB control efforts. Same studies identified an annual incidence of 26,000 per 100,000 for latent TB infection (through conversion of the tuberculin skin test) and of 4,000 per 100,000 for active TB among the PP in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. In view of the combination of a high rate of infection and development of active disease and a short period of incarceration (on average 3 years), primary prophylaxis with BCG revaccination may be a cost-effective alternative associated with mass screening for control of the disease. Recently, in a phase 2 clinical trial, the BCG vaccine was shown to be 45% effective in preventing sustained IGRA conversion in adolescents in South Africa. With this study, the investigators aim to evaluate the effectiveness of BCG revaccination for primary TB prophylaxis in healthy individuals exposed to an environment of high disease transmission. This is an open-label, randomized phase IV clinical trial involving 760 individuals from three prisons in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Participants will be monitored for 26 months to calculate vaccination effectiveness to reduce latent tuberculosis infection as measured through sustained IGRA conversion. By carrying out this clinical trial, the researchers intend to obtain scientific evidence that can contribute to the tuberculosis control policy in Brazil.

Adjuvant Effect of Photobiomodulation in the Treatment of Incontinence-associated Dermatitis in Adults

Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is an inflammation of the skin that occurs as a result of urine or feces contact on the perineal or perigenital region in adults. Lesions are typically located in the convex regions covered by diapers. The perineal region is the most affected, bringing pain and discomfort to the participant. The prevention and treatment of IAD must essentially follow two interventions: the control of incontinence/dampness and the implementation of a structured regimen of perineal care, seeking results for the restoration of skin integrity. Therefore, the gold standard for the treatment of IAD is skin hygiene, moisture control, and the use of a skin protector to restore skin integrity. Photobiomodulation has been used with excellent results in restoring skin integrity in acute and chronic wounds, but so far it has not been tested for IAD. To evaluate the effect of photobiomodulation in the treatment of incontinence-associated dermatitis in adults. A total of 78 with participant who developed lesions that present erythema with intact skin and erythema with loss of continuity, resulting from IAD, will be included in the study. Participants will be randomly divided into 2 groups: Control group use of liquid protective film in spray + FBM simulation (placebo), Experimental group (n=39) - use of liquid protective film in spray + FBM. FBM will be performed with a 660 nm 100mW diode laser, 2 J per point, in 8 points and radiant exposure of 707 J/cm2. FBM will be applied once a day every 24 hours for 3 days in a row. Both groups will continue with standard daily skin care and diaper changes every 3 hours. The primary endpoint was chosen for the 7-day IAD lesion cure rate study. A photographic record of the lesion area and measurements will be performed using a disposable ruler with the participant in a lithotomous position on the days of the evaluations. For the classification and characterization of the severity of IAD, the Ghent Global IAD Categorization tool will be applied. In addition, the size of the area will be analyzed using ImageJ software program. For pain assessment, the visual analog scale will be used in conscious participants and the BPS scale in participants with cognitive impairment and who are intubated. All outcomes will be evaluated at baseline, at 24 hours, 3 days, and 7 days.
