NCT ID: NCT03039517 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Deep Vein Thrombosis

Post Thrombotic Syndrome Prevention Study

Start date: January 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a two arm, prospective, single center, randomized clinical trial. Subjects will be randomly assigned into one of two groups using block randomization technique in a 1:1 ratio. The control group will receive care using elastic compression stocking and the intervention group will use the ACTitouch device. Stratified randomization will occur based on whether the Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) has iliac or non-iliac involvement. Subjects will be followed for 2 years with clinic visits occurring at 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 months.

NCT ID: NCT03036657 Completed - Clinical trials for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Local Effects of Acupuncture and Nerve Conduction Studies

Start date: October 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Thus study aims to characterize the local, nerve-specific effects of acupuncture on the median and ulnar nerves in the forearm, using nerve conduction studies and quantitative sensory testing. All participant will have carpal tunnel syndrome and the affected median nerve will be compared to the healthy ulnar nerve. Additionally, we aim to compare the local, nerve-specific effect of manual acupuncture to that of low-frequency electroacupuncture and of high-frequency electroacupuncture.

NCT ID: NCT03036332 Completed - Metabolic Syndrome Clinical Trials

Exercise Training and Metabolic Syndrome

Start date: June 1, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present study aimed to determine the effects of 16 weeks of aerobic interval training on quality of life and a set of clinical biomarkers.

NCT ID: NCT03035149 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Exercise Capacity and Dyspnea in Obese Patients With Metabolic Syndrome: Effects of Weight Loss

Start date: May 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dyspnea is a common complaint in obese patients. The mechanisms behind this dyspnea and the effects of weight loss on dyspnea are not completely understood. The objectives of this study were to examine the relationships between exercise parameters and dyspnea in obesity and assess the effects of weight loss. The investigators compared pulmonary function, exercise performance and dyspnea in 34 patients with abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome (MS) against 34 age and sex-matched controls. The study also assessed within-group changes in physiology and symptoms in a subset of patients following participation in a weight management program. Because obesity is a heterogeneous condition, with variable genetic associations, co-morbidities and distributions of adipose tissue, the study focused on patients with abdominal obesity who met diagnostic criteria for metabolic syndrome.

NCT ID: NCT03034681 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Lumbosciatic Syndrome: Vojta Therapy vs. TENS

Start date: January 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This pilot "pre-post" quasi-experimental study evaluates for the first time the effectiveness of Vojta Therapy in treating lumbosciatic and compares it with the transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) procedure. Patients who agree will be distributed alternately in order of arrival to a Physiotherapy Unit, in such a way that half of the sample will be treated using TENS and the other half with Vojta.

NCT ID: NCT03034512 Terminated - Clinical trials for Alpers Huttenlocher Syndrome

Alpers Huttenlocher Natural History Study

Alpers
Start date: January 2014
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a natural history study of Alpers Huttenlocher Syndrome. Patients will be followed over time to assess clinical symptoms for the purpose of expanding knowledge of this disorder in the medical community.

NCT ID: NCT03033823 Completed - Clinical trials for Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome

MAGnesium Adjunction in Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome: a Multicenter Assessment (MAGMA)

MAGMA
Start date: November 16, 2017
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study examine the efficacy of oral magnesium supplementation as an adjuvant therapy for decreasing intensity of alcohol withdrawal symptoms among inpatients requiring pharmacological treatment of their AWS. This double blind randomized multicenter clinical trial planned to treat half of participants as usal plus placebo and the other half as usual plus magnesium.

NCT ID: NCT03033173 Completed - Clinical trials for An Innovative Diagnostic Method for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Ratio of the Cross Sectional Area of Median Nerve to Ulnar Nerve in Diagnosing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Start date: January 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

An innovative diagnostic ultrasound method for carpal tunnel syndrome was proposed and compared between carpal tunnel syndrome patients and healthy volunteers.

NCT ID: NCT03032055 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Acute Chest Syndrome

Validation of a Predictive Score of Acute Chest Syndrome

Presev2
Start date: January 1, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Vaso-Occlusive Crisis (VOC), the most common manifestation of sickle cell disease (SCD), is the first cause of death, particularly when complicated by an acute chest syndrome (ACS). The PRESEV score could help the physicians to better manage VOC and could be used for future therapeutic trials. This predictive score of secondary ACS has to be validated in a multicenter international study.

NCT ID: NCT03031821 Terminated - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

Metformin in Patients Initiating ADT as Prevention and Intervention of Metabolic Syndrome

PRIME
Start date: July 12, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a multi-centre, double-blind, randomized phase III trial comparing metformin to placebo in patients with advanced prostate cancer starting (or have recently started) androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
