Filter by:The aim of this study is to determine if treatment with Medical Air (21% oxygen in room air) compared to supplemental oxygen (100% oxygen) will lead to similar improvements in the central apnea-hypopnea index (CAHI) for infants with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Despite the vast amount of research investigating the cause of central sleep apnea, there remain gaps in knowledge, lending to further research efforts. The decision to compare oxygen to medical air is based on several theorized mechanisms. The first of which is the supposition that provision of medical air may act as an arousal stimulus for the hypothalamus, thereby preventing sleep disordered breathing. Secondly, the hypercapnic challenge performed by Livingston et al demonstrated a delayed hypercapneic arousal response in PWS subjects despite simultaneous hyperoxia, leading us to question if therapeutic oxygen really plays a significant role in treating CSA. Lastly, the delivery of medical air via nasal prongs may provide sufficient arousal to terminate the cycle of events leading to central apnea, as described by Urquhart et al. A deeper understanding of central sleep apnea is essential to ameliorating its adverse sequelae, which include symptoms of ADHD, impaired attention, behavioral problems, and academic difficulties.
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common peripheral entrapment neuropathy with involving compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. Rather than other progressive disease, CTS is characterized by remission and recurrence. The hydrodissection could decrease the entrapment of nerve to restore blood supply. In addition, the hyaluronic acid was proved to decrease adhension of soft tissue and nerve during operation. The investigators design a randomized, double-blind, controlled trial to assess the effect after ultrasound-guided hydrodissection with hyaluronic acid in patients with CTS.

The purpose of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of ARGX-110 and/or the recommended Phase II dose (RP2D) in combination with a standard dose of azacytidine (AZA) in Phase 1; and to evaluate efficacy of ARGX-110 when administered at a RP2D level established in Phase I in combination with a standard dose of AZA (proof-of concept) by evaluating overall response rate (ORR) in Phase 2.
The objective of this study is to measure sympathetic nervous system function and stress responses in patients with clinically documented and self-reported chronic fatigue that is worsened by stress, compared to healthy controls. Baseline norepinephrine (NE) levels and stress-induced NE levels in patients who fulfill criteria for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and who self-identify with stress induced worsening fatigue, will be compared to data from normal individuals pre and post-stress.

A single-center, self-control, open-label study of efficacy and safety of Iguratimod in patients with Sjögren's Syndrome
To identify new, simple and reliable biomarkers for bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC) for diagnosis of this disease.
RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY Patients with low functional capacity (frail patients) with cardiovascular disease, in particular those undergoing invasive procedures or suffering from coronary artery disease, have a much higher adverse events, death and re-hospitalizations. and complications, suggesting the need for a more accurate functional stratification and a more careful evaluation of the risk/benefit ratio of some invasive procedures. An early and ad hoc physical activity intervention could be improve functional autonomy of these patients early after discharge with benefit on long-term outcome. The present study is performed to assess the impact, evaluated by Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), of a program of physical activity early after discharge in elderly patients aged 75 years and older with low physical performance. This is an interventional, multicenter, prospective, randomized, phase III study. The present study is expected to enroll elderly patients admitted to hospital for acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary angioplasty and stratified with SPPB score predischarge. At the moment of discharge there will be a screening: patients with SPPB score 0-2 o 10-12 will be exclusively followed up by clinical visit every year. Patients with SPPB score 3-9 will be evaluated during the inclusion visit when SPPB will be repeated. If SPPB score will be 0-3 or 10-12, patients will be considered screening failure and will be followed up by clinical visit; patients with SPPB score between 4 to 9 will be randomized to standard of care (see below) or to an ad hoc physical activity program (see below). The aim of the study is to demonstrate 6 months later an improvement in the SPPB score (at least 1 point) in patients randomized to physical activity intervention versus patients randomized to standard of care. All patients will be evaluated until 3 years after randomization.
This phase II trial studies how well isavuconazole works in preventing invasive fungal infections in adult patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome and neutropenia. Isavuconazole may help to prevent invasive fungal infections in adult patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome and neutropenia.
