The hypothesis is to demonstrate the analgesic non-inferiority of the ultrasound-guided geniculate nerve block when compared to the local infiltration analgesia (LIA). It is expected to maintain the quality of analgesia with a selective blockade of the nerves responsible for the sensitive innervation of the knee, reducing the total dose of local anesthetic and adrenaline very markedly.

Low-Dose Naltrexone for the Treatment of Painful Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetes affects more than 30 million people in the United States and is a leading cause of morbidity. Over 25% diabetics also suffer from debilitating painful diabetic neuropathy in the lower legs and feet. This pain can be severe, difficult to control, and have a significant negative impact on quality of life. Opioid medications have historically been a mainstay of treatment for this pain, despite the risks. As the death toll from the U.S. opioid epidemic continues to rise, the need for quality alternative non-opioid medications to treat pain becomes more urgent. One of these potential medications is Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN). This drug is reported to work by enhancing the body's natural pain relieving mechanisms and decreases inflammation by targeting specific cells called microglia which have been shown to influence chronic pain. LDN has been shown to be a safe medication with minimal side effects. Its efficacy has been demonstrated in other painful conditions but has never been fully studied for treating painful diabetic neuropathy. The goal of this randomized, placebo-controlled trial is to determine if LDN is effective for treating the pain caused by diabetic neuropathy. LDN's mechanism of action is well suited to treating painful diabetic neuropathy, and LDN shows significant promise as a safe, non-opioid alternative that can decrease pain and improve quality of life for those suffering from this painful condition.

The study will assess the safety and efficacy of multiple doses of MEDI7352 compared to placebo, as well as the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and immunogenicity of MEDI7352 in subjects with moderate to severe chronic pain persistent for 3 months or more not adequately controlled by standard of care treatments.

Dressing repairs cause distress and pain in children. Although drug analgesia is commonly used, some young children experience pain, distress and agitation. In these cases, the practice of care is not in line with a child-centred approach (CCC). In addition, the use of non-pharmacological methods is recommended to optimize a child procedural pain management . In addition, the use of non-pharmacological methods is recommended to optimize a child procedural pain management in pediatrics. For this reason, interactive music can be proposed during the course of care. We suggest that interactive music transforms behaviour, attitudes, beliefs and convictions of the child, parents and caregivers during the dressing process, thereby altering the perception of pain and the overall experience of care. The aim of this qualitative study is to explore what happens when children receive dressings in the presence of a musician trained in interactive music distribution in a hospital. Qualitative data will be generated through observation of clinical procedures by non-participant observers (n25) and semi-structured interviews with the musician, healthcare professionals, parents and children to explore this phenomenon from the participants' perspective. The data will be analysed by constant comparison. We will examine the actions, inactions and interactions of healthcare professionals, parents and children during dressing changes through the central theoretical concept of 'Child Centered Care'.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the interest and feasibility of telemedicine in the management of pain in patients undergoing treatment for advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Relaxation-VR: Implementation of Virtual Reality for Children in Hospital

Although on an international level, accumulating evidence supports the feasibility and effectiveness of VR for pain and anxiety management, in Belgium, adoption of VR in clinical practice is limited and local trials are scarce. In order to improve translation from research to practice, the current study will focus on the feasibility, acceptability, tolerability and preliminary effectiveness of 'Relaxation-VR', a VR application aiming to reduce anxiety and pain for children admitted to hospital, as experienced by both patients and clinical staff. This study will take place at the paediatric wards of two hospitals interested in adopting this innovative technology for improving both patient care (e.g., anxiety and pain reduction) and staff workload (e.g., shorter procedure times), UZ Brussel and AZ Sint-Maarten.

One-third of the participants will undergo ABM training away from affective pain stimuli. One-third of the participants will undergo ABM training away from sensory pain stimuli. The rest of participants will be the control group.
