The purpose of this research study is to learn about different approaches to promoting healthy growth among infants, and understanding parents' likes and dislikes of an approach to reducing risk factors for obesity later in life. The study includes filling out some forms with questions about your baby and your thoughts about your baby's growth and health, and engaging in a pattern of changes in or prevention of risk factors in the first year of life. Parents will receive information about changes and some tools and materials to take home with them. Some parents may receive phone calls between visits as well. The study takes place from soon after birth through the infant's age of 9 months. The estimated total time of interaction between the study staff and parents during the study period is 4 hours.

A Research Study Looking Into Blood Levels of NNC0174-0833 in People With Normal and Impaired Kidney Function

The study looks at the blood levels of a new study medicine in people with normal and impaired kidney function. Participants will get the study medicine called NNC0174-0833. This is an experimental medicine and has not been approved by the US FDA. It is being developed as a new medicine for weight management. Participants will get 1 injection of the study medicine by a study nurse at the clinic. The injection will be with a needle in a skin fold in the stomach area. The study will last for about 9 weeks. Participants will have about 7 visits with the study staff or the doctor. At the visits, participants will have clinical checks done and blood samples taken. Participants will be collecting their urine several times during the study. Participants will be asked about their health, medical history and habits. People who are already in another research study cannot take part. Only women who are not able to become pregnant can take part in the study. Only men who do not plan to father a child during the study or 6 weeks following the dose administration can take part in the study.

The long term goal is to identify the potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of obesity and its associated disorders by studying the driving factors of activation of brown adipose tissue (BAT) in human adults. Whereas activation of brown adipose tissue (BAT) in human adults has been considered as a potential therapeutic target to battle obesity since it was identified in 2009, the underlying mechanisms of beige adipocytes appearance in human adults is unclear. The objective of this proposal is to investigate the role of autophagy in mediating the inhibitory effect of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) in regulating human brown adipocytes. The central hypothesis is that autophagy plays a critical role in regulating browning of white adipose tissue and mediates the beneficial effect of mTORC1 inhibition on thermogenesis in human brown adipocytes.

The Effect of Aerobic Exercise in Overweight and Obese Women

In the experimental group, participants (n = 17) received 8-week aerobic exercise intervention without nutrition modifications. In the control group, participants (n = 16) did not undergo any intervention and were instructed to maintain their regular physical activity and diet regime for 8 weeks. FTO Gene Variants and Diet in Obesity

Studies have shown that the effect of fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene on obesity is modulated by lifestyle factors. Hence, we aimed to determine whether two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the FTO gene are associated with obesity and to assess whether these associations were modified by lifestyle factors. The study included 200 obese and 200 non-obese individuals from Turkey. Our study suggests that the effect of the SNPs on obesity traits is likely to be influenced by lifestyle factors in this Turkish population.

The potato is a nutritious food that comprises approximately 30% of total vegetable intake in the United States (US). Consumption of pulses in the US is low but its contribution to health is frequently promoted. However, in the US diet, potatoes contribute as much dietary fiber, far more potassium, and a host of similar nutrients as pulses. When prepared to enhance its slowly digested starch content, potatoes produce a moderate glycemic response. In encouraging a shift towards plant-based foods and sustainable diets, the potato can partially replace meat in meat dishes to enhance the overall quality of the diet and reduce meat intake to recommended levels.

Neurocognitive Benefits of a Weight Management Program

This study will assess whether weight loss induced through diet and physical activity can change neural responses to high- and low-calorie food images. In addition, it will evaluate whether weight loss can improve neural function when performing the N-back task, a measure of working memory. Findings will address notable gaps in the literature by testing whether a scalable weight loss intervention can help protect and improve neurocognitive functioning and brain health in individuals with obesity. This study will also provide important information about the effects of weight loss on neuroplasticity in brain regions crucial for memory and cognitive functioning, which will help to inform future interventions aimed at promoting brain health.
